Great hotel, superbly located in the middle of the arty Freidrichstrasse district. We stayed in a really impressive room with funky decor, all the rooms are individually designed by an architect.
The hotel is right in the middle of the bohemian area of the city and has various groovy bars and restaurants at a short stagger, as well as various art exhibitions and outdoor sculptures etc. Also v close to the tube and the rest of Berlin.
I highly recommend the hotel and would certainly stay there again next time I visit Berlin.

Our stay at the Arcotel Velvet did not start well, as there had been a mix-up with our room booking by our online booker - not what you want to hear at 11pm, tired from travelling.
However, the staff on reception were very friendly and managed to book us into a room with the minimum of fuss.
Our accommodation, whilst fairly basic, was immaculate and uniquely designed (we especially liked the walk in bathroom!) and for the price we paid, a very good deal.
The Hotel bar was a really chilled out space (with free Internet access - always a bonus) and we usually started our evenings there.
The Hotel is located on Oranienburger Strasse in the heart of Berlin's Jewish Quarter.
This was perfect, as the street contained several bars and numerous restaurants covering all the cuisine's you could think of. We only spent one evening of our 4 night stay anywhere else than Oranienburger Strasse as a result!
The Hotel is only a relatively short walk from all the major sites e.g. 20 minutes stroll to Unter Den Linden, Brandenburg Gate etc.
All in all, I would (and have) recommend Arcotel Velvet to people - perfect as a city break base.
