Athina Repose Suites

Athina Repose Suites is in a truly spectacular location. The outside is 5 star with an awesome view, and breakfast, lounge and pool setting, but the inside is kind of 2 or 3 star in that it's average. Is it worth it? Yes, I think so, at least for a night or two. It's like going to the Grand Canyon, you should see the caldera in different light -- morning light, bright afternoon, sunset -- and take a million photos (ferry coming in, ferry going out. . .). We stayed here for 6 nights. We had a really nice room with a lounge area at the front and bedroom at the back which was a good size. The bathroom was a bit small but OK. some of the other rooms have the bedroom at the front and lounge at the back which means the lounge area is very dark so you would never use it so doesn't make sense so ask not to be in one of those. This hotel is great. The rooms are wonderful, the staff is helpful, and the pool and view are amazing. The view itself is worth the stay. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We were greeted with a bottle of local wine and a plate of fruit. There was someone who greeted us off the transfer bus and carried our heavy bags down the steep 130 steps! AMAZING. The beds were comfortable and the location was dynamite. I'd stay here again and again!

Loved the Athina! When we arrived we were greated by one of the hotel staff who carried our bags down the challenging stairs to the hotel. A complimentary bottle of wine and some fruits were then delivered to our room. The room itself is simple but fairly spacious and had a small kitchen. The bathroom was however ridiculously small but you get use to it. Breakfast was simple but good. A huge let down! The view spectacular but the hotel lacking in any sort of quality or comfort. Staff failed miserably in every aspect of customer service. It felt like it was a hassle to be there for the staff. Rooms now looking very drab and in urgent need of refurbishment. Stains on all fabrics didnt make for a pleasent stay. Breakfast very poor quality, a few dryed up pastries and mouldy fruit - not very appealing. Overall, very poor value for money - not the place for a romantic or relaxing break.

Arriving at Santorini from Athens via Olympic Airlines, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Of course, I had seen the gorgeous pictures of Santorini and had wanted to visit for quite awhile. But I was also concerned that it would be built-up, overrun by tourists, and maybe a bit tacky. I was pleasantly surprised! We stayed May 2006. One of the best hotels we have stayed at. Service was amazing, the staff go out of their way. Yes, there are many steps to climb, but because the location is so central, you are mins from everything in city centre. I dreamt of having a balcony, breakfast, a view to die for. My dream came true when i stayed here. My husband and I will go back again this year, we will spend 2 1/2 weeks just here. Best place on earth.

My husband and I were married in Santorini in July and stayed at Athina Repose Suites where we also had the ceremony. The hotel is right on the caldera with absolutely magical views. The hotel is five star and has a gorgeous pool right on the edge of the caldera with lovely sun lounges surrounding the pool. This is a lovely small and quiet hotel. Me and m friend went there for 2weeks in august was not sure what we were expecting after reading the previous reviews but nothing like anyone wrote bout it. It was good for the money we paid, although we didn't see the owner once in 2weeks but our rep was very helpful. The pool was fairly cold but was a nice rectangular size and had plenty of sunbeds round there. There was a lot of couples staying there would say its more of a honey mooner hotel than anything else. Beautiful, romantic hotel. very clean and inviting. Heard about it from a colleague who stayed there. Be prepared to climb a lot of steps up from the hotel to the town. Going down to the hotel is the easy part, the winding steps up is quite the wokout. The view is spectacular at night of the caldera. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the island. spend a little extra and go for the studio. the basic rooms are a little too small. buffet breakfast is good but the same everyday and could be a bit boring.if you are planning for a... more
