More cons than pros
We stayed here as part of a National Holidays visit to Cornwall. The staff were excellent and couldn't have been bettered. However, the accomodation was poor. The (pink) bath and wash basin should have been thrown out years ago, the bed sloped and the decor was very shabby. The food was edible but very bland and uninspiring. If you want a 'retro' holiday stepping back to he 1950's this is for you.
Disappointing
Used to stop at Barrowfield Hotel but decided to try somewhere new due to their recent change of ownership. This hotel was clean and tidy but to be honest the bedrooms desperately need refurbishing. Having a sink in the main part of the bedroom (especially a family room!) not sectioned off in the bathroom is just weird! The food left a lot to be desired. Most of it was pretty bland and tasteless. Entertainment reembled something seen at a holiday camp and when they wheeled out the bingo machine on Sunday night that was the... more
Oh Dear...
Fabulous view, great staff, who could not be more helpful. The food was very traditional British home cooked and very good. However, overall the decor was tired and shabby, and the rooms very dirty with peeling paint on the walls, mould growing nicely on the shower curtains, and carpets edged with about a month of dust.
View to Die For
18th september 07. just spent 4 days in Newquay. Cool view from The Narrowcliff hotel overlooking Tolcarne Beach. This hotel is in desperate need of a refurb, very 70ish. Bedrooms a bit scary, 4 poster bed with lace adorning it, looked like something out of a Jane Austen play. Breakfasts were good, Shona was lovely who served us, nothing too much trouble and very bright and cheerful. The lady on the bar at night was very nice also. Very strange dinners, cress on everything?? even gravy. Needs a lot of... more
Exellent service
We have just returned from a great week at The Narrowcliff. From the moment we checked in till we left 5 days later, everything was superb. The receptionist,Ray, could not have been more helpful. He found bus times and gave us lots of information. The dining room manager, Elaine gave us a great table and the waitress was always friendly and helpful. The food was hot, plenitful and delicious at all times. The choice of food was fantastic and there was nothing the staff could not find if you wanted it. The room had a great view across the bay... more
very dissapointed
rooms very cramped, dirty and not of very good decorative order. chamber staff very uncooperative. no fresh towels for whole stay, 3 days. breakfast dissapointing and staff very surrly especialy the person who purported to be in charge. check in was o.k. night porter was fine. (Emma) who worked behind the bar would be the only person to receive any credit. she was always efficient and genial. There seemed to be a lack of interest from most of the staff as to the comfort and welfare of our stay.
Dissapointed
Must say staff in the resturant were excellent.but the rooms were awful dirty stains on bathroom carpets, wallpaper peeling of,beds not made properly, and were not very comfortable. I would not stay there again.
Friendly Staff
Stayed here in a double room for two nights for bed & breakfast in August. Positive points are that the staff are friendly, the hotel is in an excellent location (near the beach and only a few minutes from the centre of Newquay, but not too close to the clubs), and the room was basic but clean. Negative points are that the bathroom was rather small and only contained a shower cubicle, not a bath-tub, breakfast was a little disapointing with little choice available from the buffet, and check-out is quite early at 10:30am. However, overall a... more
Disappointing
We expected facilities that matched the charges, and were most disappointed. OK rooms, Average food and LOTS of noise from the very busy road outside. I'm afraid the view did not compensate.
Home Comforts
My family and I found the Narrowcliff to be everything we wanted (exept the youngest who was disappointed that ther was no pool)The rooms (family - 2 rooms)were comfortably furnished, with a beautiful sea view. Tolcarne beach, 20 yards across the road, and everything else we needed, to hand. The food was excellent. Always home cooked, and cooked to perfection. Staff also were courteous and always willing to help.Wont be there this year tho, coz they're fully booked!Highly recommended A+++++
