Holiday Inn Brentwood

The hotel is pretty average with some areas looking shabby, but overall it's what you expect. The reason for my writing a review is that my car was broken into in the car park which i discovered myself at 6.45am as i had an early start. The night porter (or duty manager) was incompetent to say the least and could not have been more dis-interested. The car was left in their car park which has a fence around it and cameras. I held my 40th birthday party here for 85 people and was very happy with the result. The whole event went smoothly, according to plan and was very well organised. The service was faultless and the very pleasant staff were always on hand to help with any request or enquiry. 18 of my party stayed the night and we had no complaint. Breakfast the next morning was very good and there was an abundance of catering staff on hand to ensure that people were seated quickly and that there was plenty of food on hand. The hotel was very dated with worn fixtures and fittings. The corridorrs were tatty and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for the past month. However, the room was large and spacious, but when you can only open the window 5 centimetres and the temperature is above 35C, it does not make a pleasant night. I can't beleive that the Holiday Inn would be associated with this hospital looking excuse for a hotel. The only reason I stayed was for the convienance of the M25, UNAWARE THAT THERE IS A FOUR STAR HOTEL 2 MINUTES DOWN THE SAME ROAD THAT MY COLLEAGUES STAYED, APPARENTLY THE RATES WERE REASONABLE TOO AND THE BREAKFAST WAS COOKED TO ORDER WHICH MEANS IT WAS HOT!!!. I must admit the holiday inn rooms were not so bad but neither is camping when you go for one night.

While the room we stayed in was excellent we were shocked at the state of the corridors. Filthy broken net curtains were just about managing to stay up. The bar/restaurant was booked for a private party so we couldn't eat or get a drink in there. Just as well as the rowdy crowd and smoke would have been a major turn off. Hotel is located just off the M25 motorway - so if that is where you want to be - it is a great location. There is ample parking although no obvious security or barriers. Our room was clean and had been fairly recently refurbished - the scheme was pleasant and contemporary. As said by other visitors - corridors are looking very worn. Size of bedroom and bathroom was fine if on the slightly small size. Shower was excellent. Towels were very threadbare though - definately time to replace them! Was concerned about staying here after previous reviews, but soon started wondering if I was staying at the same hotel as everyone else. Admittedly the corridors were not the most modern looking and the lift could do with replacing, but everything else seemed to have been modernised recently, including the room and the leisure club. I got an excellent rate on the Holiday Inn website, and this really could not be beaten for price.

My husband and I had the worst meal ever in the restaurant "Traders" at Holiday Inn, Brentwood. Sensationally bad, we were left speechless. It wasn't even cheap as a sort of consolation. Do not go.

I stayed at the hotel for one night in August 04. In consideration of the fact that I was charged £120 for a double room I found the hotel to be in a poor state of repair, especially once you were away from the reception area. The corridors needed a good lick of paint and the doors needed replacing. The furniture in the room was okay but the bathroom suite seemed old and discoloured. Stayed at the Holiday Inn in Brentwood for 3 nights with my wife and 6 year old daughter. Inside it's a nicer hotel than it looks on the outside, don't let the weak online pictures put you off, physically it's a decent hotel. Has a restaurant and bar on the premises and is very convenient to the M25. The problems we had with this hotel were almost entirely in the area of reservations and charges to our bill.
