Ommaroo Hotel

stayed in this hotel for a longweekend was ok, but the hotel is very dated looked great from outside but inside needs full update, can imagine was the place to stay 20yrs ago! the staff are friendly the breakfast was great but make sure your down on time as is taken away at 9.30 on the dot, the whole hotel was very smokey and the smell hits you in the face as soon as you walk in even our room was very smelly! rooms were of a good size clean and serviced well each day but again very out of date. I wouldnt stay again nor would i reccomend it... more

This hotel was excellently located in St Helier. The staff were extremely friendly and they couldn't do enough. We received a warm welcome on arrival and the manager made a complete fuss over my six year old. The food here is excellent. We stayed for the new Year Gala dinner and the six course meal was divine. A hearty breakfast followed the next morning, served by extremely delightful staff, who had worked long hours over the festive period. We stayed at the Ommaroo for a week in late September and we were quite disappointed after the favourable reviews that we had read on here. Our room was spartan and pokey and not particularly clean. The bathroom was awful with the enamel covering coming off the bath in handfulls! The 'double' bed was merely two singles shoved together with a huge ridge down the middle. We booked the Ommaroo independantly for 8 nights in August and taking everything into account we were pleased with our experience of the Hotel. Taking that Jersey Hotels are expensive anyway then the Ommaroo is more reasonable than most. It is well situated on The Havre des Pas, handy for beaches and for walking into town, there are plenty of decent restaurants closeby. My husband & I, our two teenage children and his mother, stayed here for 5 days. Our rooms were basic (with a bed & breakfast feel about it), but were very clean. We got a single room for my mother-in-law, and boy, was it small! It was a narrow room with enough space for a single bed against the wall and some furniture. But our other two double/twin rooms were of a good size. But we could hear other people talking in their rooms across the corridor from us, let alone when they were walking up & down it. Stayed for a long weekend with friends 1-4 july. Although requested rooms together (3 in total) were placed apart. Hotal deal was done direct and we thought we had booked sea view but had not it seems. Rooms were clean but very basic. Food was excellent value for evening meal £12 for 3 courses and coffee but was served in a very rushed way. Breakfast buffet was good but if you did not get your cooked food on your plate by 9.30 the burners under the hot plates were turned off prompty at 9.30 and the remaining food immediately removed.... more

I have stayed at the Ommaroo every summer for the past 15 years. The room is perfect, with an excellent view of sea and cliffs, perfectly clean and well-kept. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the bar and restaurant are good with tasty food and friendly service. The location is great, 2 minutes to the beach and 10 minutes to the town centre. All in all it is, in my opinion, the best hotel in Jersey.

I have to start by saying how friendly and helpfull the staff in this hotel were. We booked a post Christmas break expecting a seaside family friendly hotel. Travel cot in bedroom fine, high chair in restaurant had no safety straps - a common problem we found across the island. The hotel offers a free baby listening service so we were able to enjoy a drink in the bar and leave our baby asleep in our room. But the hotel is not geared up for families. We like to eat as a family and children are not allowed in the restaurant in the evenings.... more

I stayed for about 4 months at the Ommaroo hotel, while working on Jersey. A perfectly good hotel, nice rooms, good food in the restaurant and a very pleasant bar. The Ommaroo made me, and my colleagues, feel very welcome and was most definately the best hotel we stayed in on Jersey over a year. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels.Excellent value for money.
