Good so Far... Returning this year...
We stayed at the Eldorado Royale (5 star) in 2001 and decided to stay in Playa for our 2002 vacation. Our friends were staying at the Continental Plaza so we decided to stay there also.. We went for the free tickets by hearing a timeshare presentation and bought in at the Fisherman's Village. They agreed to let us stay there while we were on vacation. We paid Continental Plaza but stayed at the Fisherman's Village. It was wonderful. The place is just beautiful. As one person wrote in the guest book , "a little piece of heaven". We had... more
Fishermen's Village, August 23 - 30
We liked the place, our room was on the first floor just a few steps to the beach. We were lucky to have three days of nice weather.Sunday, (inspite of all the reviews that we read about Fishermen's Village), we went to the sales pitch. We liked the place so much we became owners after a couple of hours of negotiations. This is kind of an upgrade of what we have right now, we own a timeshare in Branson, Missouri, and although it nice, Fishermen's Village is a lot nicer than ours. We liked the view, the beach is clean and well maintained... more
e-mail address
Does anyone have the e-mail address of Fishermans? All I have is a Fax number, which doesn't work. I'm getting worried about going there with all of the bad reviews I've read. I'm planning to go next February.

4 Star Location 2 Star Accomodation
My fiancees mother owns a time share at Fishermen's so we joined her for a week in June - remember to include the cost of a chiropractor in your vacation if you plan to sleep on the sofa bed. The beach was one of the nicest for swimming and sun bathing that we have been to (we have travelled to Indonesia, East Africa, and Pacific Mexico) quiet, nice sand, good depth for inexperienced swimmers. We went to the grocery store and cooked most of our meals. If you intend to vacation like this then we can really recommend the hotel. However, when we... more
Be Extremely Wary
Stayed at the Fisherman's Village for the first time since buying into it during our last visit to Playa last year. Although we love the Playa area, the abundant deceptive sales practices combined with the difficulty in making reservations as well as the extreme ineptitude or fraudulent billing practices have seriously soured us on this place. In a nutshell, we were told at the time of buying, that all places are the same. They are not. Upon arriving we were given a place much different than what we were shown. Upon complaining, we were... more
got the sales pitch...
We never actually stayed at Fishermen's Village, but we did get sucked into the sales tour. My husband and I were staying a few hotels down and decided to take a walk on the beach early one morning. As we were passing by FV, a sales guy stopped us and talked us into getting the "tour" and lunch. So we agreed since we were at the end of our vacation and had enough of the hot sun for a while (we had plans on staying in most of that day anyway). We were also promised $100 in cash, a $100 gift certificate toward the spa, 2 t-shirts and a... more
Fishermen's Village
My husband and I had a great experience at Fishermen's Village. The accomodations were excellent, we had a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath condo. The food was OK. I recommend just eating breakfast and lunch there. There are so many great places in town to eat at and what a fun place to people watch. Our service was impeccable, our maid even made different animals out of towels wach day including a huge swan, an elephant, and a mouse. The grounds were well maintained and the ongoing construction is just about complete. I'd say about 2 weeks to go. The... more
Timeshare Owners Return
We own a timeshare unit at Fishermen's, but I wanted to post this to give people the scoop on how it all works. We took a heinously early flight and arrived in Cancun around 10:30am. I chose this flight due to paranoia that if we checked in late, Fishermens would try to farm us out to the Royal Sunset in Cancun, which is a frequent complaint. However I do think that most who made those complaints were people who booked hotel rooms through Expedia and other sources, so they were not timeshare owners. BUT, I wanted to be safe, and not sorry, so... more
Bad, bad never again. April 15
We booked our stay at the fishermans through EXPEDIA. The picture that Expedia shows in their web page is of a room with an ocean view. It is not true, the villages al have ocean view, but the rooms dont, not a single room has ocean view, because of this we feel Expedia and the hotel lied to us.But the worst thing was that the room they gave us was in front of a construction and was full of dust and noise all the time. If I opened the curtins the workers at the construction would saw everything inside the room. The service didnt quite met... more
Stay Away Re-Comfirming Stay Will Not Secure Your Reservation!!!!!!
We booked our stay at the Fisherman's through expedia, and reconfirmed our stay via email to the hotel. We recieved a return email from the hotel confirming our reservations. When we arrived, big suprize (we heard this might happen, thus the pre email) they had no room for us and tried shipping us off to cancun. promising all inclusive--watch out the hotel is 3 blocks off the beach and is at least a 5 min taxi ride(6-8$us) from any swimable beach. We choose to cancel our reservations and found at great hotel just by walking the beach.... more
