Sleepless in Seattle
We booked this hotel very last minute as we could not find anywhere else to stay, in hind site, it may have been better to stay at home. We arrived at the Seattle hotel and were somewhat shocked to find that the entrance to the hotel is nestled between a series of very low grade restaurants and shops. On entering the reception, after having worked out where it was, we were greeted by various young people dressed in jeans sitting behind a glass table, they rather looked like they were not really meant to be there, but were perhaps... more
First class service
A thoroughly enjoyable stay from start to finish. The stylish decor does justice to the picturesque setting provided by the Brighton Marina. First class service in a low-key way which extended not only to catering for the needs of my wife and I, but for those of our 2 young children also. The baby monitoring service allowed us to leave the children in the room whilst we enjoyed dinner in the hotel's restaurant. The meal proved to be the high point of the stay. Great local seafood, decent portions and classy, unfussy presentation. And the... more
Great atmosphere, large rooms. Lovely view.
I stayed here for one night on a business trip, we did obtain a good rate for the rooms and also a free upgrade - so my review is based on a cost of £100 per night (room only). The hotel is unusual - it feels like walking into someone's living room at first! The design throughout is boat themed, with sweeping curves and airy spaces prevalent. The room was large, clean and uncluttered. The view onto the marina great and overall feel very relaxed. The bed was enormous and very comfortable and bathroom clean and well... more
Very Relaxed Atmosphere
Stayed in this hotel, this weekend (23rd March) having been here before. I really like this hotel and the location. The weather was typical English, rain one minute and sun the next, however the hotel offers a nice relaxing atmosphere. Looked at the prices for a standard room on Late Rooms and they were advertising the price as £85. I called the hotel direct to see what price they were offering and they quoted me £110. I explained that I might as well book it with late rooms and immediately they offered me the room for £85. A... more
Mostly fine....
A group of us stayed at the Seattle for the New Year weekend. I was a little concerned having hear the complaints about the noise thinking that surely it would be worse than ever at New Year! Anyway, as a result we booked an inland facing room to try to escape some of the marina noise. We also paid a bit extra for a bigger room and I’m glad we did – our friends booked into a standard room and it was very small. Ours was huge, with a lovely comfy bed and very well fitted bathroom. Our main complaint would be that it was... more
A bit choppy!
A bit choppy! I can never recall which film that's from in which Angela Lansbury sways from side to side, readjusts her immaculate hair and recovers from the sudden sideways shift with unmistakable glamour and dexterity. And where was she? Was she on a train, a boat or a plane? Well, much the same can be said for this quaint hideaway in Brighton's Marina. And yes, it is a hideaway. Whilst the long barren entrance resembles a makeshift supermarket entrance, mainly brick and glass from what I remember, the hotel reception, via a lift, is open... more
So much for a good night's sleep!
I wish I'd read the reviews here before booking to stay at this hotel. There are many good things about this hotel which other reviewers have mentioned: - the beds - so comfortable! - the decor and furnishings - minimal but clean and everything you need - bathroom - a modern delight with a showerhead as big as a dinner plate! - lovely views. - impressive breakfast in Cafe Paradiso. BUT ... NOISE is the big problem. We had a room immediately over a function suite (not that we knew that) and there was a... more
Great relaxed atmosphere
We just returned from a two-day training event at the Seattle. It was very successful due to the great relaxed atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. We all enjoyed the funky rooms (though noise from the yacht parties in the Marina kept some awake), fabulous food, attentive staff and well serviced meeting room. The staff were amazing about remembering names and accommodating our wishes. Be sure to visit Simeon in the Black and White Bar for the best MaiTai this side of Trader Vic's! Thanks for a great experience.
food a real let down
We chose to spend 2 nights at this hotel specifically because a baby listening service was offered so that we would be able to enjoy a meal together without having to worry about the children. The hotel rooms and staff were welcoming and pleasant but the food in the restaurant, both for the evening meals and breakfast was a real let down.Bizarre combinations of almost inedible food were the choices on offer on the menu which literally made me unwell and unwilling to take the children there even for breakfast.Disappointing.
Tiny rooms but perfect location
Went for a 2 night Alias the Weekend package 14/15 July for my birthday. Booked a marina/sea view room. Parking is easy in the free marina car park - with a walkway to the boardwalk in front of the hotel from level 6. Check in was smooth - after reading reviews here we asked if our room was above Kharma - it must have been as they gave us another room - top floor and opposite end from the Kharma - room 241. The room was small and no, there is not much storage room, but for a weekend it was fine - and what I really wanted I got - a... more
Over-styled and over-priced
We stayed at this hotel for one night in July as from reviewing the hotel website it seemed to be quite a funky place to stay but in all honesty it was a bit of a disappointment. Firstly, we did not realise from the website that the hotel was so far out of Brighton - it is about a 5-10 minute drive but is too far to walk - admittedly this was perhaps our fault for not researching it better in the first place. Secondly, the room that we stayed in did not have airconditioning and the corridors/reception areas were also very hot and... more
