Hotel Casolare le Terre Rosse

We stayed 4 nights in a small but very clean and nice room with a beautiful view. Hotel personnel was very nice and they helped us plan our daily routes, so we visited so many nice places in Tuscany and bought some excellent wine! We'll come back again definitely! Maybe they just renovated but our room was great, up to date and beautiful view. The rates were unbeatable. This was the nicest hotel and the second least expensive out of five visited in a a 15 day trip in italy

The staff were very helpful but the restaurant was very ordinary , it seemed the food was pre-prepared. Probably because both nights we were there large coach parties were in residence. The alternative restaurant (Fuori Parta) we were taken to on one night (as restaurant closed) was even more average - maybe because of a limited menu choice for our plan? The Pool and gardens were nice but there was a definite problem with drain smell in our room (part of annex) which was quite overpowering.

We arrive to the outstanding location of the hotel. We stayed in one of the beautiful two bedrooms apartments. The staff could improve their attitude, the breakfast was disappointing and the worst part was the micro air conditioner which obviously could not help at the hot August night, so it was a sauna, this was after I have asked specifically and they respondent that all the hotel is air conditioned.

Enjoyed our stay in Le Terre Rosse. Ok the small negative issues first! There were some issues with our air conditioning ie the smell was awful but they did get this sorted eventually. Whilst most of the staff were friendly some could be better, the caretaker seem to spend all his time walking around mumbling and giving out to anyone who would listen! Stayed for 3 nights at this fairly well located, but basic hotel. Hotel was very clean and breakfast was fine, but not memorable. Pleasant, helpful waitstaff. We didn't eat dinner there. The pool looked nice, but we didn't have a chance to use it due to the weather. Got off to a bad start when they showed us to a tiny twin bed room though we had booked a superior king. We traveled to Italy to visit Tuscany area and Florence. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and we loved it. The owners were very nice and the staff too. The hotel is very quiet and we slept all night long... the only sound we hed was the birds singing! We didn't stay in the hotel during the day but there is a nice pool and a huge garden. I stayed at this hotel as a part of a Tuscany-based painting class I took in July 2006. There was not enough room at the Agri-Tour hotel down the road (a charming farmhouse called Fattoria San Donato -- where they make their own wine and olive oil), so our teacher suggested we stay at Casolare. I loved it (as did one other woman who also got shut out at the Fattoria). The main building is not really that beautiful, in fact it's a little too 70's flat/modern but it's the right Tuscan color (a warm yellow) and the gorgeous landscaping... more

Stayed there in August 2005. Nice location if a little remote which isn't ideal for travelling in the twisty, hilly road to San Gimignano for food and drink at night time. Food in the restaraunt was excellent even if the waiting staff were a little brusque -perhaps the fact that everything goes on your bill until you check out at the end of your stay and they don't necessareily get tipped has something to do with it. We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Casolare Terre Rosse. The hotel is located only minutes from San Gimignano, midway between Firenze and Siena. The hotel is modern (1997), yet built as a typical tuscan farmhouse. The location is very relaxing, the swimming pool is huge and rooms are very clean. Don't miss the onsite restaurant either, that's where we had our best meals in Italy, and prices are very reasonable, too!
