Unique Hotel Dom

I used to stay at Hotel Dom regularly. However I found that it was becoming noisier and noisier so I stay somewhere else in Saas Fee. The location is great from the point of view of being right in the centre and convenient for everything. Unfortunately being in the main square means being woken by the church bells. Also, the popcorn bar and living room bar attracts lots of party-goers who are not bothered how noisy they are when they leave in the early hours. I spent 5 nights half-board in the Unique Dom and found the rooms to be bright and clean. Unfortunately, the time of my visit coincided with a music festival that went on all day till the early hours of the morning and as my room looked onto the square I didn't get any sleep for 3 nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), so it wasn't much of a holiday, more a punishment. Unique Hotel Dom is a basic hotel in the centre of Saas Fee. If wishing to go to Zermatt by the early bus, do NOT rely, as I did, on the receptionist, who told me the ski store was open 'all the time'. It certainly is not and I wasted two hours and missed buses while someone was located to open it. Hotel: The hotel Dom is situated in the heart of the little village of Saas Fee. It is the perfect location for the ski lifts and bars (note it’s opposite a church so you will be woken up early by the bells which are annoying for such a lively hotel). I think that the hotel Dom is one of the best hotels in saas fee. It caters for everyone,young and old. the popcorn bar is a fun and friendly place to be which attracts a lot of people.There is also the living room with its releaxed attitude wich is perfect after a long day skiing. the staff cant do enough to help.And the food is beatiful

Stayed here in Jan 05 with boyfriend. Had a lovely room with windows on two sides and a huge balcony. Very well heated and lovely cosy quilts. Great to have a stereo but I was lucky the BF didn't bring any playstation games. Good service in the restaurant with a nice selection for breakfast. Dinner not great for vegetarians though. My husband and I stayed here for 7 days just before Christmas 2004. Since we snowboarded most of the time, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. We reserved it with breakfast and supper which saved us a ton of money... In the mornings, there's fresh sliced meats, cheeses and bread, with cereal, juice and coffee. After reading all the reviews in various newspapers about how cool and trendy the Dom was, we were disappointed. We stayed for two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period. The staff are great, the food good but limited. The funky lounge area shown on their website had been turned into an internet corner and doubled up as cloakroom (complete with scaffolding) for the Living Room bar in the evening. We stayed in Unique Dom over the New Year period. We thought the standard of the hotel was more on the scale of a two star and the service by the staff to very lacking and at times abrupt. We booked half board and found the meals to be okay. The rooms have wooden floors so you can here everything from the room above. We didn't get a bath in our room which would have been good after a day's skiing. The location is right in the middle of the village close to the shops and a short walk from the ski slopes.

Funky, trendy, and very relaxed. The Dom has many features which will make for a memorable stay. Public lounges display decor which is a little odd, but certainly memorable: A piano hanging from the ceiling, a mock elephant's head trophy and a fountain in in the bar give the hotel a unique feel which draws in the younger element from around the saas fee resort.
