Hotel Orestias Castorias

We stayed one night on our way home from Trikeri Island, on the recommendation of someone we met whilst on holiday. The staff were very friendly and helpful, carrying the suitcases up the stairs for us, we were on the 1st floor, and letting me use the reception computer to print our return boarding passes as the guest computer in the lounge did not have a printer attached! This was a great hotel it was my first time in Thessaloniki and there was such a selection to choose from and I picked this based on previous reviews. Its family run and the staff are lovely and friendly. They don't serve breakfast but that was not a problem as it in a great location. There are bars/cafes literally a 5min walk away. Great little hotel in the center of town. Very friendly and helpful. Let 5 (3 little kids) of us stay in one room which was totally awesome. Had to leave at 4:45am and they had the coffee and cookies ready for us. Lots of Cafes and shops nearby. Rooms were clean. Would definitely return.

Great location, clean rooms with high ceilings, friendly staff, nice bathroom, internet and wifi access. All that at a good price. Brilliant!

We were 2 families with teenagers. We stayed 2 nights in early June. This hotel is old and kind of funky. The rooms were clean and our rooms were quiet. The staff were great. They let us check-in at 10:30 AM and even offered us cookies and coffee while one of the rooms was being cleaned. They also kept our luggage after we checked out until we could pick it up on the way to the airport that night. The location is excellent. We walked to all the sights we wanted to visit. The price is great.

Excellent location! If you get a room with a balcony on the side street on the left you see an archaeological site and on the right the St. Demetrios church. Being on a small side street you do not have much noise. A 15 minute walk to Galerius Arch or just over 5 minutes to Aristotelous Square. Rooms are basic but spacious, bathrooms are acceptable. No elevator but staff are helpful with luggage. Also, no fridge in the room. Very friendly staff. All in all, one of the cheapest accommodations you will find in Salonica, excellent value for money.

Very nice hotel with modest prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable. And in all rooms there is free internet access via W-Lan - the code will be provided by the reception.

We stayed in the Orestias Kastorias Hotel in Thessaloniki, Greece in Sept 2005 at the end of our holiday in northern Greece. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room we got was great with high ceilings. It was very clean with lots of light form the big windows (which all have shutters). The airconditioning was working great. At night the area was nice and quiet. We probaly were lucky to get one of the bigger rooms overlooking the Ancient Roman forum but the other rooms we seen looked fine.<br... more

My husband and I have stayed at Orestias Castorias quite a few times (we are currently living only a few hours away) - it is very basic, 2 twin beds with airplane type bathroom, but you can't beat the price or location. It is right across the street from an archeological dig and a nice park, in the center of town. It does not have air conditioning though, so for a cheap, basic hotel during the summer try Nea Mitropolis (it is basically the same). If you want a good cheap hotel close to downtown Thessaloniki, then this is the place for you. Rooms are perfectly adequate (comfortable beds, ensuite bathroom, colour TV) and in April/May 2003 cost 36-40 euros per night. The hotel does not have a bar or provide breakfast. However, there is an excellent eatery within 50m where you can purchase breakfast for no more than 5 euros.
