Hotel Lauria

This hotel is everything you need- clean, centrally located, and quiet. It's a great value, feels safe, and has all the basics (safe, clean bathrooms, decent beds, etc.) The staff is friendly and helpful.

We have just returned from 4 days in Tarragona staying at the Hotel Lauria. We booked this hotel online at a great price of £36 a night per room. The hotel is on the main Rambla so in a very good location to get around Tarragona. The room was basic but clean. The maids cleaned the room everyday we were there. We had a room with a veiw of the sea. You also looked straight into other peoples apartments but it was nice to be able to see the sea from our room. As if it wasn´t the first time we stayed at this hotel is how we felt when we entered at the reception desk. A magnificent entrance with white marble steps is what you first find at the inside. Afterwards we knew that 50 years ago this was a private house and it was reconverted into a hotel. I can´t imagine how the owners lived there... There was even a theatre inside!! The price ($60 USD/night) and location of this place are good. I would pay more, though, and get a place that is more comfortable. Our room was not clean (hairs on bed and towels!). I don't mind old furniture and was expecting it, but they could at least update the bedding and towels. They felt like they were from the 1970's still. It didn't feel old and charming, just old and dingy.

Highly recommended. An amazing price, super-friendly staff, great location (right on the Rambla Nova). Rooms in the back have a view of the sea from a private balcony. Nice pool on site as well. It's tricky to walk to the ocean from anywhere on the Rambla, but that's not the fault of the hotel. You can walk to the Coliseum and Circus Maximus from this hotel.

We stayed for 4 days. The Lauria is one of the few hotels in Tarragona that accepts pets, which was why we chose it. The staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful. Our accomodation was comfortable and well serviced. The decor is a little old fashioned, as other reviewers have pointed out, but so what? Location can be everything and the hotel is very handily placed for restaurants, tourist attractions, shops and public services. Don't be put off by the 60s decor! Rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly and efficient. Good value for money.

This hotel is a great value in a wonderful location on the main street - Rambla Nova - in the center of Tarragona. The rooms are a bit worn and dated, but large enough and completely functional, including TV, bath, safe, etc. We traveled with our two teenagers and gave them one room and we took the other - for about $72 / room in late June 2004. Excellent location on main rambla, though quiet as almost to sea view. Excellent service and stylish. Rooms comfortable and relatively traditional. Good deals in winter.

In a convenient spot in the heart of town. Staff are friendly and efficient and the bar and lounge areas spacious. Rooms are good sized with all the facilities although, if I'm to be critical, could benefit from a face lift. Good value at the price (54 euros, Dec 2003) gains it the rating.
