Nice hotel - shame about the food
We booked this hotel for our 1st wedding anniversary after reading all the glowing reviews, especially regarding their food. Unfortunately we have to disagree; the hotel itself is fine and our deluxe room was lovely with private garden. We had booked to dine at the hotel for the evening of our anniversary and was a little disappointed with the rather average menu selections but even more disappointed when it arrived. The starters were rather small and lacked presentation, but the main course was awful. My husband ordered the steak... more
Charming and Special
We had such a great time at the Dial House! We loved our room which was very pretty, and we loved the huge garden in the back of the hotel. We sat back in the garden one evning with a glass of wine and just soaked in the beauty of the grass and flowers. The breakfast was just fantastic with an excellent fruit plate and a hot, flaky croissant. There is parking too! Highly recommended.
Perfect!
The Dial House was a perfect retreat in the English countryside. We fell in love with the hotel the moment we saw it from the street. We felt we had the most charming hotel in the town. The hotel is set back from the street with small shops on either side. The garden in the back made me want to stay on for a couple of days. It was the most perfect cottage garden. The hosts - husband and wife - were simply wonderful. Eager to please and extremely nice. We very much enjoyed both our dinner and breakfast in the charming dining room.... more
Peaceful Retreat
Just returned after a weekend away without the children ! We stayed in one of the 4 poster rooms (Room 1) which overlooks the village. Beautiful room, well furnished and spotlessly clean. Service was excellent, very attentive staff who were interested without being intrusive, a rare skill. The bar and restaurants were small but we didn't find it a problem at all, if anything it added to the cosy atmosphere of the place. The location was faultless, in the middle of the village but set back from the main road. Great walks... more
A great traditional English hotel
The hotel is full of character gained over hundreds of years with carefully refurbished rooms. Adrian and Jane, who own and run the hotel, are charming and were attentive to our every need. The food is especially good. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay their again next time we are in the Cotswolds.
Could have been better
We stayed here last year in a room in the annex. Although the room was nice, but not spectacular, we were kept awake by an incredibly noisy boiler chugging away all night. The owner was extremely attentive and moved us to another room the next day but we were put in the only room available at the time which was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen! Lovely decor, but a banquette style bed which my tall husband found difficult to get into. The food was great and the service good but not the best hotel experience.
Characterful Little Gem!
I have recently returned from a trip to England and must say that my stay in the Cotswolds, at the Dial House Hotel was one of the most memorable parts of my visit. The decor in the hotel is divine and its clear that it has been lovingly done with a real eye for detail. We stayed in the Red Room with the biggest (and most comfortable bed) I have ever slept in! The owners Jane and Adrian are superb hosts and really made us feel welcome and relaxed throughout our stay. The location is also excellent, right in the heart of the town.<br... more
Small Room
We were rather shocked to find our room so small during our November 2004 visit. Also, we found the lounge area quite crammed and not especially comfortable or attractive. Of course, the location can't be beat.
Haven of tranquility
I visited Bourton On The Water with my Grandfather in September this year as he needed a well earned rest. I read the reviews on the Hotels and decided to stay at the Dial House. We were by no means disappointed. The service and hospitality were the best you could imagine, the food divine and the beds to die for. You could also not dream of a better location, as it is right in the heart of Bourton. This was definately an experience to remember.
Fantastic hotel
A lovely hotel - fantastic staff, great food and central location. Our room was very clean and comfortable; just one tiny thing - to make it 'perfect' the outbuilding rooms could do with a makeover - lose a few frills and ornaments.
