Quiet & Comfortable
After reading some of the reviews on the website I was a little worried about my stay at the Georgian which I had booked due to its location near relatives. However I experienced a very pleasant stay. I agree with the fact that some of the décor is a little tired but our room was still quiet, clean and comfortable and although some areas could do with a lick of paint we understand that refurbishment work is being done. Overall the hotel is in great location and the staff are very friendly taking the time to talk and take interest. I think... more
Only as a last resort.
I had stayed here some years ago, and remember it as being a little down at heel so only booked in as a last resort, but hadn't expected the owners to have given up completely in the intervening period. The overall effect was cramped, dingy, shabby and run-down. Admittedly there was evidence that an attempt at refurbishment was underway somewhere, but there's no getting away from the rather distressed atmosphere and the suggestion that someone's been to great lengths to conjure up lots of rooms with an imaginative use of... more
Poor
Very tired accommodation, everything smells of shake & vac. Admittedly they are doing some decorating, but that doesn't mean that guest should have to walk through debris left on the staircase at the end of the day!. None of the doors have door closers on them and consequently you get awoken regularly by almighty bangs - if the owners read this then PLEASE FIT DOOR CLOSERS. My room was in need of refurbishment. Cornflakes for breakfast due to slow service (couldn't afford to wait for staff to show up). Should’ve cost... more
Well appointed:hardly, cramped:definitely
Maybe the suite shown on their website is roomy, but the double room we had was tiny. There was not enough space for a standard double bed, let alone a queen or king size, and we spent a fitful night in a 3/4 size bed woken periodically by other residents returning scrunchily over the pebble beach that has been transplanted from Brighton and serves as a car park. They have crammed so many rooms into too small a space, so that there was not even space for a TV except mounted up high on a wall. As an economy single room it may just pass, but... more
A very nice hotel
We have just returned from a one night stay and after reading the reviews on trip advisor about this hotel, i felt confident it would be nice. We had a comfortable family room. The furnishings etc., were very nice and the toilet and shower very clean. The breakfast was especially good and the staff friendly. I would definately go back again and recommmend it.
Well worth staying there
My wife and I have just spent a very enjoyable Easter weekend at this charming hotel. The room was adequate and quiet but had no view to speak of. The food was very good served by very friendly staff. The breakfast room could be bigger when the hotel is full but breakfast was well worth the short wait. A handy hotel for the city centre as you can leave the car there and not worry.
Convenient but pricey for what it was
Stayed here for two nights March 2005 and dined in first night. We didn't think the food was extra special, the soup needed more flavour and the pork was too dry. The portions were good , though, and the staff throughout the hotel were helpful and friendly. We thought our room (no.7) was very small and poky for the price, and the bathroom was minute - the shower was one of the smallest we have experienced and the loo was right in front of the wash-basin. We knew from a conversation when we were checking in that the hotel was full, so... more
What a Wonderful Time!
As a business man who moves around the country a great deal I found the Georgian House Hotel one of exceptional value and convenience! The hotel is situated right in the centre of the city making it an easy hub to get around and hit ever part of Norwich with easy. The staff we're great to deal with and I've never had a happier lady in the breakfast room.... which did serve up a perfect Full English! The bar staff, what can I say.... guys/gals you were class acts all round, thanks for the nights! All in all a wonderful stay and... more
Great Hotel
We also stayed at the Georgian House on the weekend of 14/02/04 and we loved it. It's close to the town centre, the breakfast and dinner was excellent and the staff are really friendly. They often have special offers on their website too.
