wonderful!
We loved this place: what a gorgeous location, building and owners. The decor-although in the room a little dated-is very homely and shows a lot of history. Didn't even see the front walk along the river until we left and we definitely agreed that we would love to return: much better and more frindly than a hotel and the owners made us feel really welcome into their home.
lovely cosy house
Just back from a week end stay and can only compliment the place with excellent breakfasts and service to match, the room was clean and the bed most comfortable, though the television was a bit past its sell by date and quite small, it was just about adequate but that would be my only negative comment, the house was very well furnished and the breakfast room was delightful with full table decs etc, nice fresh towels supplied daily and tea and coffee facilities were adequate, room was heated if needed and with plenty of hot water in the... more
Wonderful stay at Victoria Spa Lodge with kids
We stayed at the Victoria Spa Lodge for two nights with two children, under six, and grandparents as well. There were also at least two other families there with children, although our kids were the youngest. We had two family size rooms situated on the 2nd floor. These are the only rooms on this floor, and it was so nice for the kids to be able to go back and forth between the rooms. The rooms were a great size and had a double bed and two twin beds in each room. Each room had its own bathroom as well. The bathrooms are small,... more
Nice place
The hotel is in a great location and the staff was very nice. It is a short drive from the city centre and very close to a new Park and Ride. Our only complaint was the very small bathroom.
excellent stay, fine for families
We stayed at the Lodge for 2 nights in April 2007. We found the place to be excellently located for our visit to Warwick Castle, and the Tozers were extremely hospitable, especially considering our late arrival and somewhat unruly children. Our room was a family room on the top floor (with a double bed and two twins). It was small but perfectly comfortable for 2 nights. The breakfasts were delicious and Dreen was very accommodating about having our daughter's hot breakfast ready right at 8am on our morning of departure when we needed to... more
Efficient as well as pleasant
We arrived late Friday afternoon, and stayed for two nights as we were going to see the Wars of the Roses plays at the RSC (Henry VI Part 1 on Friday evening and Henry VI Pts 2 & 3 and Richard III on Saturday). Victoria Spa Lodge is about 2 miles out of town, but has the benefit of parking, unlike some establishments in the town centre. Parking in the town centre is expensive, difficult to find and often limited to one hour. There is a park-and-ride bus station (£1.30 return to the town centre) close to the Victoria Spa Lodge, but... more
Excellent Choice!
This is a gem of a place to stay! We stayed here with our three year old daughter for two nights and found the Victoria Spa Lodge to be very welcoming to families. Paul and Dreen Tozer are very helpful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The place is spotless. The beds are comfortable and the hot water never runs out! The rooms are furnished in a traditional style- our family room had exposed beams and plenty of room. Breakfasts are really good with only the best produce. We had the kippers one morning and they were... more
Fab for families
went here for a weekend break and it really was a good find, owners were lovely we took up 3 rooms which were perfect with all the facilites you would want. We found a great taxi firm that ferried us all into the town about £4.50 one way and would totally recommend the Sorrento Italian resturant in Straford it was super. All in all a reasonable priced guest house which was fantastic.
Great Family Lodging
We are a family of 2 adults and three children 9, 8 and 6. It was extremely difficult to find accomodation in the UK for a family of 5, and the Victoria Spa Lodge was perfect for our family. We would definitely recommend the Lodge as perfect accomodation not only for a family, but also for couples looking for a nice quiet place to stay. The breakfast was excellent (best scrambled eggs ever!) and the room rate was perfect too! We'd say this was our best accomodation on the entire UK leg of our trip.
Comfortable, and fun
I've stayed at Victoria Spa Lodge several times over the past few years. It is a large, comfortable homely bed and breakfast guesthouse. The rooms are well furnished. The en-suite bathrooms are clean and there is plenty of hot water. Being situated out of central Stratford the house is quiet and parking is not a problem. Breakfast is served in the large and beautifully furnished dining room, at communal tables where talk is encouraged. It's a great way to meet fellow travellers. Breakfast is generous, and a full English "fry-up"... more
