not impressed
from weekendersEdinburgh
We stayed in this hotel for one night. We felt it lacked in staff and atmosphere. We did not feel welcome when we arrive and when we where leaving my husband handed in the card for the room and thanked the girl in reception, she however completely ignored him and answered the phone. And unless you have a credit card to leave behind reception you cannot get a drink after hours. the breakfast wasnt all that good either. Nobody seem to care weather you had a good stay or not. The only good thing i could say about the place is although a bit...

horrific hotel wouldnt recomend
from emily1996
after going with a coach trip i arived to see that the hotel was run down and decreped. in need of a refurbishment. the rooms did not apear to be clean at all, with filthy toilets. i decided to go to the bar where i was to find the drinks ridiculously expensive. eg. 2 vodka & coke £9.00. the dining room looked in need of a new carpet and a but of tlc. i would not recomened this hotel to my dog; and only go if you are desperate for a night. overall the worst hotel i have ever stayed in.
No Staff
from gordonufo
Having gone on a coach trip with the elderly, we were met with a welcome smile, but that was about it. No staff were available to do anything apart from the young reception desk manageress who filled in on every job going. Bless her smiles through gritted teeth. Forget this place for a coach tour. It is all self service, what little staff were around to help with breakfast duties, were not too pleased if you asked them for any help. Don't pre-book a single table if you're on a coach party as you'll be asked to give up your seat to a...

from ANONTyne_Wear
Having read not so good comments on trip advisor about this hotel before I stayed there...Decided to write our views on it after staying there...We stayed with a coach trip for one night....very organised on arrival no probs at all...Hotel was pleasant with friendly staff...nice room, with very clean comfy bed, evening meal and breakfast were fab...Hotel seemed to be out on a limb but wasnt that bad, bus route into Bolton town ...there was a pub/restaurant 5 mins walk called 3 pidgeons (food looked nice) very busy too...no negative points...

WATCH OUT! Spurious credit card charges followed me
from Field0
The hotel as per other reviews is as expected. It serves a purpose and for an overnight stoppver is good value as long as you have a car for mobility. However, my warning stems from a credit card charge that arrived 2 weeks later allegedly for breakfasts that I had had while at the hotel. I hadn't. Trying to get a refund or explanation has been difficult and if you don't want to go through this hassle thik twice about handing over your card details. I am handing my complaint over to my credit card fraud company as its been 2 weeks now and...

Perfectly adequate
from Flossy77
This is the kind of place which is perfect if you are just looking for a place to kip whilst you away on business. Comfy bed, very helpful staff, lots of parking and very easy to get to and then on into town. Who could ask for more when you only pay £39 a night?!
nothing around
from annalaurenalison
stayed with a coach party would not recommed the place , its on the edge of housing estate there is NOTHING to do, see or walk to. l could image its good for commercial travellers who need bed and breakfast but absolutly no one else. bar prices phew, steep. lt was quiet at night ,rooms absolutley fine, carpets in halls yukky. b breakfast spot on
It's ok
from LanceScotland
Stayed here on 31 July for business purposes. I believe the hotel has changed hands many times. Some problems with seemingly short staffed (reception area was un-manned for periods of time). Overall, ok stay. Breakfast was fine and bar reasonably priced. The hallways leading to bedrooms the carpets were really grubby (same also in the rooms) and there was obviously some minor building work going on. Room was ok, small but fine, windows didn't open much so limited natural fresh air. Bathrooms really grubby (embedded dirt and grime in...

Friendly Hotel
from GreatGal
This hotel is good value for money.I recieved good service.Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean.Excellent breakfast and evening meal was adequate.I paid £138 for dinner bed and breakfast for 4 nights. So no complaints from me.I agree that you need a vehicle when residing at this hotel. On the other hand, there is a local bus stop reasonably near by.Bus takes you into Bolton. If you get a deal with this hotel, then I would also recommend its use.
It does just what I want - I wonder if anyone else wants it though!
from Owch
I remember this hotel being built in the early 1970's (as 'The Crest Motel') and wondered then 'who would stay here?'. It's been through a variety of ownerships since, steadily getting tattier and more decrepit... until now! The place has been 'done up' quite well. The rooms are bright, clean (and this is a Britannia hotel remember!) and comfortable. They are, however, small. There is a lively bar/function area at the front of the hotel that seems to cater for coach holidays. The bedrooms are in a separate block at the back so there's...
