Kildonan Lodge Hotel

The Hotel is well located on a main road, easy to reach and only a simple bus ride away to the centre of town. A 30 min walk however is recommended which by-passes several pubs, shops and restaurants. Anyway back to the Hotel....Staff are very pleasant in welcoming guest and extremely helpful. The rooms were clean and the showers worked a wonder. Decent size car park at the rear. Definately a recommendation for Family and Friends. PPatel

6 of us travelling together booked 3 rooms and were put in the lodge behind the hotel so we could be together. We had the place to ourselves, including a living room with TV & fireplace, plus a conservatory. Rooms and baths were significantly better than what you usually get in England: hot water with good water pressure, modern fixtures, better decorated than most. Just got back from a wonderful 11 days in Scotland. The last 3 days we spent at the Kildonan Lodge Hotel. Six adults, three rooms and we had the Lodge, the building behind the Hotel, to ourselves. The rooms (and the fact that we had the building to ourselves) were wonderful. We could not have been happier. I must say that Heather and Sean were outstanding in helping us set up our reservations and then after we arrived, helping us with directions and setting up dinner and tour reservations. Recently i´ve been in this hotel with my wife and children and i must fully recomend it. Rooms are clean and modern. Staff is very helpul and pleasant City Centre is quite near, 15-25 minutes walking. Breakfast is delicious And children are welcome In conclusion, a very nice place to stay in your visit to edinburgh

The hotel staff is courteous and warm. The room that we got was OK, but not perfect. It is spacious, extraordinarily naturally lit by its huge windows, but we experienced a few drawbacks: 1. One of the chandeliers seems to be on the verge of collapsing from the cracked celieng it is attached to. I hope the hotel management consulted with an engineer to make sure a serious accident is unlikely. 2. We stayed here for two nights in July. Situated just outside the city centre this hotel provides a great location. Bus journeys into the city are cheap (£1 each way), quick (approx 10mins), and frequent (every few mins a bus seems to pass the bus stop directly across the road from the hotel). We stayed at the beginning and end of a scotland round trip at this hotel. Nice house, friendly staff, good breakfast. Easy to find, ~ 2 miles from city center. Parking space is available at the back of the hotel. Several bus lines run from the bus stop in front of the house. Restaurants and pubs are available within walking distance (we preferred 'New Bell').

The Kildonan Lodge Hotel was by far the nicest, most comfortable place we stayed in our three country vacation. To top it off, the nightly rates were better than the other places we stayed! We found the Kildonan through tripadvisor and I can honestly say I was skeptical. But it truly felt like coming home. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The breakfast was abundant and cooked to order. the location/parking were perfect. I would happily return to this lovely home away from home.

the stay we had at the kildonan lodge was by far the best we had in europe, it was like being home. heather was my all time favorite, she was so friendly and helpful it made me feel right at ease. maggie was also very nice and helpful. all the staff gets a big thumbs up from me. the food was great ! the rooms were very nice. when i arrived in paris i wanted to go back to the kildonan lodge, but my family had plans, reservations, etc.complimentary sherry and shortbread every day in the room. they also had everything you need for tea right in... more
