I Expected Better And Was Disappointed
I never book a hotel without checking reviews here on Trip Adviser and had begun to consider these reviews as a form of guarantee. Well I had my confidence severely jolted by a recent weekend stay at Redesdale Arms. I paid "book" price of £95 per night for a room in the new annex. Other rooms were £85.00. It was rather motel like in that one parked right outside and the entrance door from the courtyard opened into the room without a small hall or vestibule. Thus there was a certain amount of coming and going late at night; irritating but... more
Nice but...
I recently stayed at this hotel and overall it was pleasant but not without some flaws and I would probably spend the extra money and stay across the street at the Manor House. Our two room accomadation was located in the building to the rear of the main hotel, so you had to walk outside to enter the restaurant and bar area. Not a problem for us but others may not like this. The room was less than desirable, right on top of a side street and constant traffic noise and dogs barking. I think if you were located in the interior of this building... more
A Fantastic Find!!!
It's old meets new - wooden floorboards in the lounge bar with roaring fireplace alongside trendy zebra print and leather sofas. The main bar has what looks like the original flagstone flooring accompanied by beamed ceilings. The staff were well turned out, friendly and attentive, without being annoying (I can't stand people demanding if I'm okay every 5 seconds). The food was excellent - along the lines of the Boxwood Cafe in London. I had scallops with cous-cous to start, my partner had Duck followed by slices of lamb on a parsnip... more
the lovely redesdale
i loved every moment of my stay at the redesdale the manager is a lovely man and all the staff were great! It's is so nice to enjoy professional yet casual and friendly service...Meeting the gorgeous Maggie was also a high light!
quite luxurious
Travelling by train around the UK, we chose Moreton-in-Marsh as the handiest Cotswolds location served by rail. We stayed at the Redesdale Arms for three nights. Our room was one of those adjacent to the courtyard and, if we'd been driving, we'd have been able to park right by our door. This courtyard room was large and luxurious. There was a kingsize bed and a separate sitting area. The bathroom was large. We ate breakfast each day at the hotel and had two dinners there as well. All were excellent. The check-in process seemed a... more
Class...,real class.
I wanted to book a single night, mid-week, start of Sept 05, in the heart of the Cotswolds for my partner and I. I couldn't have chosen anywhere better than the Redesdale Arms. Situated on the main street, The Redesdale Arms has that typical English country feel about it when you walk into the bar. With oak beams, oak panelled walls and stone floor, the quailty speaks for itself. The bar itself was modern but warm and friendly with the staff young, fresh and attentive..(and mainly South African, which made for interesting... more
A great find!
We stayed at the Redesdale Arms for a week end in August. The location was perfect, being in the centre of the market town, yet the hotel itself provided a tranquil base from which to explore. Accomodation was excellent - modern, whilst still retaining some lovely traditional touches (the complimentary sherry and beatiful log fires came at the top of the list!). Our 11 year daughter loved the luxury of the whirlpool bath and we appreciated how welcome she was made to feel. By way of an example, the chek "tweaked" one of the dishes on the... more
Nice place, contempory but still traditional
Had a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel. Great location, Nice rooms, yes they are a little small but it's the UK and all rooms are small here. Great food served and good food options in the village if you seek alternative options. Good friendly staff and a relaxed but professional enviroment created by the staff. Free bottle of whiskey in the rooms was a nice touch and free water and biscuits also nice. Would reconmend this to anyone wanting a break in the countryside
relaxing but right on spot
Our stay at the Redesdale Arms Hotel in the pretty town of Morton-in Marsh was a really enjoyable one.We found everyone there very pleasant and helpful We had some enjoyable country walks across the fields to Batford House ( which were recomended by the staff) were one of the most enjoysble times of our holiday. We walked in the early evening and returned for a drink and lovely meal in the hotel resurant. There were lots of good places to visit nearby and we thought the Redesdale was an ideal base in the Cotswolds and very... more
Olde England joy!
We stayed at the Redesdale Arms for three nights in June. This place is full of character and was a joy to have visited the Cotswold. Staff: The staff wonderfully polite and helpful. They seemed extremely hardworking as they were there first thing in the morning until late into the evening. Food: The food served in the restaurant and bar area was magnificent. My only complaint about their food was that I couldn't decide what to have each night as it was all so nice. The Beef Medallions was to die for, and the daily fish menu... more
A Lovely Hotel in the Cotswolds
I stayed at the Redesdale Arms in June of 2004 for three nights. This is a lovely and quaint hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds with about 20 rooms. The rooms are somewhat small but very clean and attractive and appointed with everything you need (hairdryer, etc.). The bathrooms are also nice and clean. The hotel is on the main street of Moreton-in-Marsh, a lovely town in the Cotswolds. The hotel has a pub in it and two areas that are small restaurants. We ate breakfast each morning in the small casual dining room. It was... more
