Fantastic stay/staff
Had a really great stay at the Chester House. Rooms were comfortable, staff were impeccable and breakfast in the morning was very tasty - the food was far better than a very expensive "boutique" hotel we recently visited - all cooked to order, and you could tell. Staff really went out their way to help us out and make our stay very enjoyable. Beautiful village as well, although can get busy. Recommend a nice stroll between the Slaughters to get away from the crowds.
The place to stay in England
This is an amazing hotel, a truly stunning place to stay in a village where much of the other accommodation is stuck in some time warp. The rooms have to be the best in size, layout and comfort that I have stayed in for some time. The hotel is spacious, has great character, and is ideally situated 50 yards from the main village centre with parking as well. However what has to be said is that what makes the hotel is the attentiveness of the friendly staff, who will do anything to make your trip a special occasion. As I think someone... more
Wonderful
Leaving it till two weeks before travelling to book a minibreak on the weekend of both Valentine's and half-term was a bit of an error, and left me reeling at both occupancy rates and prices of some Cotswold hotels. However, we struck absolute gold with Chester House. I filled in the comment card as we left this morning, and the absolute only thing that detracted from its otherwise perfect-ten scores in every area was the fact that the breakfast tables are a teeny bit small for the generously-sized plates. Go, stay there,... more
Excellent Stay at the Chester House Hotel
Stayed here in December 2006 for a birthday get-together with the parents. Rooms were large, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were what made it though. although i dont know names, there were two younger gents, one working in the bar and another working in the Croft restaurant who went that extra mile to ensure our happiness, so thank you to both of you! For example, the waiter in the Croft kept running over to the main hotel to get my dad another (and another) pint of his favourite bitter because he... more
Weekend of relaxing and eating cake.
My Boyfriend and I spent a wonderfull weekend at The Chester House Hotel in Oct 06. It was our 1st weekend away in a long while and we needed a well deserved break. From the moment we stepped into the Hotel we received a warm and friendly welcome, which carried on throughout our stay. Although there are plenty of things to do in Bourton on the Water we found ourselves relaxing on the lovely Leather sofas in the bar area for the majority of the stay, with food available from the hotel's restaurant across the street and plenty... more
Great Short break
I stayed a the Chester House Hotel for a weekend break at the end of October. I was with my two daughters, their respective partners and one grandchild. This hotel had been recommend to me by a friend and I found the accommodation and food excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Children were most welcome. The owners and all the staff were very helpful and polite. I will certainly stay there again when I am next in the area and will not hesitate to recommend them to all my friends.
Best Ever Cotswold Experience
From the moment of our arrival to our departure three days later, we were looked after superbly. Nothing was too much trouble for the keen and helpful staff, from the lovely lady on reception who gave us every help with our queries about what to do and where to go, to the polite greetings from the charming housekeeping team every time we came across them. Our room was spotless, comfortably furnished with lots of "extras" to welcome us. Breakfast was terrific, even with the rain lashing down outside the conservatory, and the waiting staff... more
Very relaxed and pleasant stay
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in August and were very impressed with the helpfullness of staff and the relaxed feeling of the place. The reception areas are stylish and comfortable and the double room we had was clean, bright and simple. We would stay here again.
A pleasant place to stay
My husband and I stayed at the Chester House Hotel for 4 nights last week. Our room (No 7) was huge (at a guess, perhaps 20ft x 15ft), with its own staircase from the reception area. It had a double bed (a bit uncomfortable as it was cheap quality), a single bed and two armchairs and coffee table, positioned nicely for the TV. Nice dormer windows to two sides of the room. The bathroom was clean and comfortable, but just a bath, no shower. I understand from the receptionist when I booked that the bathrooms will be refurbished in the near... more
Ok
The village itself was very scenic and traditional - great for a weekend break! The Hotel - located well, right in the heart of the village. The room we stayed in was of a good size and decor very contemporary and cool, however, the customer service was really, really poor!!! When we arrived at around 7pm on the Friday evening we waited a good while at reception before being seen to by an American chap who did not have a clue about what he was doing, we never completed any forms or anything on arrival he just gave us a key and took us to our... more
Management response from dhmanagement

At our hotel we are always open to constructive criticism. Since taking the hotel on in March this year we endeavour to look after all our guests as if they were staying in our home. The useless “American chap” no longer works for us and was an unfortunate and short lived addition to our otherwise enthusiastic and hard working team. Having checked the customer log and booking system for that weekend, we were indeed fully booked that night, and would have been unable to move the guests, after the leak happened. Maintenance looked at the leak on the Sunday, as soon as was possible, and it has been rectified with a new pitch and tar roof. I would also like to assure any future guests that the blasé type attitude of the manager described in this review was not as the conversation happened with the guests. The manager apologised profusely about the leak, and continued to show her mortification that they had not received enough service to the problem, that the guests and the manager did laugh together about the leak in the end due to torrential rain and that the guests left smiling. I would like to point out that "looking elsewhere" in the village and using us as a "last resort" are both very damaging quotes as we run a very clean, friendly and well maintained hotel. We strive to become better as all new businesses do, and hope that future guests will take this review with a very large pinch of salt.
