Great experience that shows Hotels so near to Airports are not all dreary
Stayed at the Langshott Manor with my girlfriend via a reasonable £140 deal from lastminute.com and as the hotel was rather quiet we were upgraded to a larger suite which made it all the better. Finding the hotel even with a good sat-nav wasn't too easy and on arrival we did feel that the atmosphere was lacking - some music in the reception area wouldn't go amiss but when you start to take in the fantastic period architecture and features and experience the attentive and friendly staff you soon feel comfortable. Our suite was... more
Wonderful Manor but VERY expensive
We had a layover at Gatwick to start a 14 day European vacation. We wanted to start our vacation off positively and wanted an authentic English Manor. We arranged with the Manor for a car to pick us up at the airport and we had a great driver. The Manor is beautiful and the grounds are spectacular. We had a wonderful room with huge fireplace and 4 poster bed and french doors to a small garden. It's everything we could have asked for...but at a price. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were very impressed.... more
Living on past glories
We stayed here for one night in June when the South was mid-heatwave. It is a traditional country house hotel with all the aesethic charm of a Tudor building but as it does not have A/C the small over stuffed room was unbearably hot & no fans were supplied. The lack of facilities is reflected in its AA star rating; however we failed to understand why it had been awarded 'Best Hotel' for 2005-2006 as in our opinion the building is is in need of serious refurbishment to accommodate the requirements of modern travellers. The bed was a tight... more
Nice but over priced
I stayed here with my g/f on a Saturday night in April. We agreed a price of £250 for both of us which included breakfast, dinner, cream tea, pre-dinner drink, newspaper etc. They updgraded us to a Junior Suite (the room we originally wanted was called Leeds - we wanted to see th 4 poster bath. They called to say because they were not busy that evening they would upgrade us - in fact they were packed, so it's more likely someone else demanded that room). The suite was lovely with a seperate bathroom, containing a giant bath which... more
Shame about the service
Stayed here for one night over teh May Bank Holiday weekend and was very disappointed. Deal had included afternoon tea with Kir Royal (which was never delivered) and dinner. Dinner choice was very limited as 'they'd had a busy Saturday night' - not sure that's a good enough reason really. The room was pretty (Goodwood) but the bed was overly soft and you tended to roll in to teh middle easily. The worst thing was the fact that by running a bath for my boyfriend, there then was not enough water for me to have a shower without... more
amazing place
Langshot Manor is an amazing find, tucked away in the countryside but only 10 minutes from Gatwick Airport, from the moment you enter the gravel drive and see the fantastic manor house to the time you leave everyone makes you feel special. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in for service and quality of accomodation, we have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world and this deserves to be in that catagory,it may not have a spar or pool but the food is superb, staff excellant and the rooms tastfully furnished with antiques.This... more
Lovely place but expensive
We stayed here en route to Gatwick airport just for one night. The place itself is lovely. I think we ended up with an up-graded room, possibly larger than we would have got, as we booked via Holiday Extras. As the hotel was quiet, we were offered a room in the main house, which was lovely - very old with small mullioned windows looking out on to beautiful gardens. The bathroom was great, with lovely robes and toiletries. We had an extra fold up bed for my daughter, and there was plenty of space for it. This however had certainly seen... more
Very nice indeed!
We stayed in this hotel the night before our flight on holiday. We had a beautiful room called 'Anne of Cleves' which was spacious, with a big comfy bed, small sitting area and a lovely bathroom, with a fabulous shower. There was very little aircraft noise as it is not on the flight path. We also had dinner in the hotel. The food was well presented, served by charming waitresses and waiters and was pretty tasty! However, I did think it was expensive for what we had. There are a few small lounges that you can have coffee in, but... more
nice hotel, small room
Stayed here for one night but was disappointed with our room which was small and the bed very uncomfortable-it is a long time since I've had such a poor night's sleep. The hotel itself is a lovely Elizabethan manor house with pleasant gardens where you can enjoy a drink. We had a meal in the restaurant but found the food very average for the highly inflated prices. The staff are very helpful and pleasant.
Lovely Afternoon
I enjoyed a lovely, leisurely afternoon in the dining room, garden, and fireside room. We started with lunch in the dining room. THe food was excellent and the service impeccible. We moved to the garden to enjoy the spring day and fresh air. We were well taken care of by the staff as we relaxed on the patio. When it got chilly, we moved inside and sat in one of the lounges. It was the perfect afternoon.
Excellent food and accommodation close to Gatwick!
This hotel is a must if you are looking for a place close to Gatwick that is not your run of the mill hotel. I stayed here on the last two nights of a 10 day visit to the UK. I had a flight in the morning and wanted to be close to the airport, but will not stay in "airport" hotels. The antique atmosphere is compelling and the room was wonderful although it was a bit small for the HUGE draperied bed that was in it. The size of the bath made up for the lack of size in the bedroom, though! My traveling companion and I had our... more
