Hotel Posada de Roger

I've stayed here several times and I love it. If you're fussy, move on--or make sure that you get a room away from the Basillo or Vallarta Avenidas(northeast corner) and in the back. The higher you are off the street the better too. I stayed on the Vallara side on the third floor and it was ok. The buses are busy in the morning and noisy and people do go there to get loud and party. Earplugs? I am a light sleeper and stayed in a front room and was able to sleep. (other reviews said it was noisy. I noticed some, but not alot) Our room had 3 beds, 2 ceiling fans, was clean and nice. I liked the convenience of being a few blocks from the beach, while finding reasonable prices. I thought the staff was helpful and friendly. I loved the rooftop pool, which was never crowded. Many times it was just the 2 of us swimming. I am planning on going back to this hotel. Not a single complaint.

I was very pleased with the Posada. The rooms were clean and I always had hot water. The location was very handy as it was in the heart of old town and a few blocks from everything. The staff was very friendly and I plan to stay there again in 2004 if they have rooms available.

I have stayed at Posada de Roger 12 times. It is clean, safe, well managed, with friendly desk staff and room maids. The restaurant is excellent for breakfast. The owner and family members are often on the premises to supervise. The small pool and rooftop sundeck are very pleasant, well kept, with lots of plants, and gets good sun most of the day. New lounges, patio tiles, umbrellas recently added make it even better. It's a great place to stay. I've been there twice in the last year. It's very clean but very plain. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room but to sleep. The rates are very reasonable and it's close to the beach and the bars etc. I have stayed out of down town on hotel row but would not recomment it as you have to take a bus down town and a taxi to get home at night unless you like the quiet life and don't like the down town area. The beds are a little hard but otherwise the hotel is great!!

I have stayed in low cost hotels much of my life. This however was a new low. I walked in the lobby and there was a chain smoker to greet everyone. The "look" of this Old Town hotel may appear ok on the web site but inside I was reminded of an old prison for the insane from a movie - really! The old crumbling brick walls and design disarray were the only quaint elements I noticed that would be considered Old Town architecture. Stayed here at Christmas 2001 on the recommendation of some friends and we were terribly disappointed: rude desk personnel (one girl in particular); an ice cold (unheated) small pool; and noise, noise, noise! ... from 10 pm when the neighbourhood disco cranks up until 4 am when the drunken tourists and locals stumble loudly out of the bars and the cars and pickup trucks drive by at all hours with their musica blaring for everyone to 'enjoy' - and all of this is complimented by a neighbourhood rooster that cockadoodles morning, noon and... more

I always feel at home at this hotel. All the people treat me like family, everything is just right and they have the best American breakfast in town. Believe me!! Ed

No complaints when I stayed at this hotel. I had guests over without a problem. The hotel staff were friendly. It's about two and a half blocks from the beach.
