Myself and my partner had two weeks in this hotel, and felt we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.First week was lovely and quiet, but second week coincided with half term,so the place was very full and lots of kids,naturally..If we were to go again,we would book outside of school holidays. We made the decision to Not pay for transfers to/from airport, but to take taxis each way.It cost us E25.00 from the airport, and E32.00 from hotel to airport.Expensive, but we felt this was preferable to the coach, just a nice and chilled way to travel.
Once arrived,we got a free upgrade to a junior suite..! Overall, although the hotel clearly is a little older, which reflected on parts of the exterior, and interior(eg:crack in washbasin, bathtub would eventually need replacing)we were impressed by the overall cleanliness and simple but solid fixtures/fittings.Foodquality was always very good,if a little bland at times. However, even the bland stuff could be spiced up by being creative with the sauces(spicy salsa at the chinese counter, check out the garlic in the green mojo sauce!)..It was noticeable that during busy times it could get manic in the restaurant hall~with every table taken, and the hardworking staff struggling to clear tables quickly enough.Be aware also that staff will clear tables if all of you get up to get more food/drink etc,so it pays for one of you to stay at table. We found that if you arrive either early or late, you miss the stampede, and your meal is more enjoyable.
'entertainment'....Lol..at times laughable, but remember there are only six 'animation'staff to keep guests entertained. They were so hardworking, but the audience participation stuff was just cringeworthy~they made a real effort with the shows(eg:saturday night fever~on a Friday night?!...)wich we enjoyed, but also realized that it was all mimed..
San antonio itself was a bit down at heel, certainly in the immediate area of the hotel, however once on one of the fantastic beaches that didnt matter. If you head towards playa des ingles, you have lovely sandy beaches~it pays to bring a windbreak or something,as the everpresent winds certainly wip up the sands and cover you as you are lying down. Also be aware that as you get towards playa des ingles, there will be ticket/timeshare touts etc on the promenade..If you decide to check beaches going towards the airport~these are all more rugged and pebbly~still nice tho!
Unless you are happy to spend the money, and can make head or tail of the confusing excursion offers, consider using taxi or even the local bus service to get to places of interest....
We walked to the fantastic dunes of Maspolamas,in a little over an hour~but if it is hotter, use taxi/bus.Or you may just choose to enjoy the pools/grounds area of the hotel~nicely maintained and pleasant, but again~ during busy times...packed.
We heard one or two complaints about the check-out procedure..once checked out at midday, you could remain on the grounds, but you were not allowed to enter the restaurant...we got round this by(discreetly!!)taking out some rolls and fruit at breakfast,lol..You could also still sit at the snack bar,and as there were usually no staff about, you could have a drink and a light snack.
Overall we would recommend this hotel,it is clean, generally very well run, very friendly, and value for money.

what a surprise

I have just returned from a February half-term week, What a surprise!!
After reading some of the reviews, i was a little worried, but please dont take any
notice of them. We had a lovely week with no complaints at all. Me and my friend
booked last minute for this hotel and thought that because of the half-term week it would be full of children.. but no... not many kids really...
We arrived the early hours of the morning, and was greeted by a very pleasent reception staff. We found our rooms, which were a lovely size, very spacious and clean. Bathroom was clean and clean towels were left daily. The restaurant was really nice, plenty of food and choice although was a little repetative. The chinese food bar was very nice!!
The pool area was spotless and their was plenty of sunbeds to go around, although the germans are up at the crack of dawn and do 'the towel thing!!. why do they do that???
The drinks are on tap all day.. sangria, wines, beer coffee etc.. which was really nice.
My only critisicm what that the evening entertainment was very amateur and not that great for adults, but dont let that put you off it was o.k.
The walk to the local shop is about 15 mins which is mostly uphill!! but its got most things you need.
I would definately return to the hotel. It was a lovely holiday and luckily for us the
weather was good. Good for all ages.
Oh yes.. a small critiscm.. there are no parasols around the pool areas.
Enjoy yourselves if you go to this hotel. I thoroughly recommend it.

Interclub Atlantic

Just got back from the Interclub Atlantic and i must say it's the best hotel i've ever been to!!!
Went for a week in feb and the weather was ok...some hot days and others were so so but better than the uk in feb so can't complain!!!
The hotel is very clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious and clean. Never saw any cockroaches etc in the whole complex. Room was cleaned every day and maids were friendly. Staff were also very friendly and always spoke to my little boy.
The entertainment team work so hard from early in the morning until about eleven at night!!! The are multi-lingual and are so helpful and friendly to everyone. There are sports and other activities throughout the day and a kids club for 4 years and over. They really are great with the kids. They then do a mini disco for them in the evening, followed by adult entertainment which is at times cheesy, but it's ok. Drinks are obviously free so there's no point in leaving the complex at night anyway!!! There's the Bora Bora nightclub to go to after all inclusive ends at 11 which is on the hotel site but you have to then pay for the drinks.
The food is fantastic!!! So much choice and delicious!!! Beer, wine and soft drinks are on tap for you to help yourself...and you can help yourself to ice-cream throughout the day. You can get spirits, cocktails and liquors from behind the bar. Banana liquor is lovely!!!
San Agustin is very quiet and you would have to go to Playa del ingles for bars/restaurants etc but it's only about 5 euros in a taxi anyway. Maspolomas is also close by and you can see the sand dunes from the hotel...the view is lovely. It didn't really matter that San Augustin was so quiet anyway because as it's All inclusive you don't need bars/restaurants.
I would definetely go again. The pools are great...two big ones and a baby pool...also there are jacuzzis but they are cold!!! I think this would be refreshing in the summer anyway.
Definetely go and don't be put off by bad reviews. The hotel was so much better than i anticipated!!!

Relaxing Break

Stayed for a week and it was a joy! So quiet and relaxing. Food was very good and lots of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times even our room maid who spoke very little english spoke to us and we had some very funny conversations with the use of sign language!! Our rep Sam was one of the best reps we have had for a long time from any company-thanks Sam.
We were even suprised with the hotel's entertainment which wasn't bad. The entertainment staff worked very hard throughout the day and were always happy and friendly. Its less than 5 euros to Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas. Theres a lovely walk along the promanade/sea front into Playa but would take over an hour. The beach near the hotel isnt too bad either. We would certainly go again and recommend to others.

We have just got back from our stay here, i was worried after reading some of the reviews but was really happy with the hotel, it was very clean, our room was cleaned daily as were all the paths, around the pool etc. the staff were very friendly and the food was great. There is only one thing that really annoyed me and it was the amount of germans! i really dont have a problem with people from different countries but the germans at the hotel were very stuck up and seemed to think they had more of a right to be there than we did! they were constantly looking down on us and pushing past us and in front of us for the food. Not all were like this but a good few were! however despite this the hotel was fantastic

First time all inclusive
6 / 10
Nov 2008, mchale

This was my and my partners first go at all -inclusive, we fancied a winter break and to be honest we could not have faulted the weather. It was beautiful.
The comments I would like to make are that the service from the Thomas Cook rep we met at Las Palmas airport was rubbish.
First we were EVENTUALLY shown to the connecting bus and then had to wait on the bus for over half an hour for the rep to locate to lost passengers who had not been shown to the connection. Certain passengers on the transfer (elderly) complained that the air-con. was'nt on and that they were getting a bit faint with the heat.
Eventually the rep came back to the bus to draw her finger under her chin accross her throat to signal to the driver that it was "game over" for the lost passengers.
We then proceeded to the resort and along the way I rapidly discovered that the rep could not speak one word of spanish and that it was going to be touch and go (with her communications to the driver) that the order of drop-off was agreed.
As it happened my partner and I were the first to dropped off at the Interclub Atlantic. I say drop off...more like booted off.
There was no introduction at reception and no way of telling us what to do. We were left on the pavement to find our own way.
However, after a long flight...feeling hungry and thirsty we thought "well..it's all inclusive and we should (once we get in be able to get a snack and a drink!"
We got checked in and then found out that food (including snacks) was not served. We tried to enter the Jardin Restaurant...LOCKED..However you were able to get a drink and then at 4pm there was coffee and cake and Bingo...EH!!!
This practice appeared to cater for the mainly German clientele of this establishment (and throughout the island).
The first meal we were able to get was at 6.00pm a good 2 hours after our arrival at the hotel and a good 8 hours after our departure from the UK.
It appears that in this instance that All inclusive as described in the brochure does not exactly mean that.
There are certain time restrictions which I and my partner painfully learned over a day.
It's a complete lie to say that you can get snacks whenever you want. The snacks are served at the Cuerte Bar between 10.30am to 11.30am and after that there was lunch 1pm till 3pm between these times there was nothing until 6pm till 9pm dinner service.
However, once you find your feet..the room was pleasant and the maid service (every day was great). the food at the (buffet restaurant/transport cafe) was excellent lots of variety and very clean. (we thought though that one week is enough of this)
The entertainment (Animacion) was absolutely rubbish. Shows which (gawd bless them) they conducted initially in German,English and Polish it was a bit much.
The Hotel is clean and a bit like Hi-de-hi with sunshine and as I said before for a week it's great but don't expect any help at all from the reps. they just try to sell you stuff (don't they all!!).
Just remember ..it's All Inclusive WITH LOTS OF RESTRICTIONS!

Great holiday
9 / 10
Nov 2008, steph_wright85

Firstly i would like to say, please, please do not believe some of the reviews on this site! I was quite worried about this holiday after reading the reviews some people had put on here but we were pleasantly suprised upon arrival to out hotel.
My partner and i both stayed at this hotel as we did not want to go on a lively holiday (Playa Del Ingles for example) and we made the right choice. We are both mid-twenties and thought it was great.
We arrived on the Monday at about 15:00, lunch time was between 12:00 - 15:00 but upon arrival we were told to go and put our cases in the luggage room and check in later and go to the dining room and get some lunch and a drink then to return to reception which was great as it was very hot and food and drink was just what we needed after travelling. We checked in later, and found the staff very helpful. Purchase of the safe is charged at 2 euros per day, so 14 euros in total for the week.
The room was lovely, very spacious, we were situated on the ground floor with patio doors which opened out on onto a grass area with sun loungers.
The pool area is very nice, and clean, we could not fault it. There are two bars by the pool area serving soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. You could serve yourself beer or wine but had to ask staff for spirits. There is also a snack bar by the pool which serves hotdogs and toasties between 10:00 - 11:00 then tea and cakes between 15:00 - 16:00. Ice cream is available all day.
The food was lovely, the dining room consists of a chinese area, an italian area and a english area. Each lunch time and dinner time there was a choice of meats and fish such as sirloin steak, pork steaks, chicken breasts, salmon, hake, plaice where just a few. There was also a choice of noodles, rice, pizza, salad and vegetables.
After dinner there is a show each evening in the bar, some nights these were good, some nights these where a bit cheesy but there was always something going on, whether it was to your taste or not! The Bora Bora (disco) is on each night from 11:00 - 01:30 if you fancy a few more drinks after the show has finished. You have to pay for the drinks in there as the all-inclusive finishes at 11:00, but drinks are cheap. We paid 7 euros for two vidka and cokes which isnt bad.
The animation staff are fantastic, so friendly and really work hard. Each day there are activities going on throughout the day which can be found on the board in reception. These included football, tennis, volleyball, water polo, darts, riffle shooting, water aerobics to name a few.
We only went on two excursions as we where only staying for a week. We went to Aqualand - the waterpark in Maspalomas and we did the Spirit of the Sea excursion which is dolphin searching in Puerto Rico. We booked both of these with the staff in reception. If you are going on a day trip, the hotel will arrange for a packed lunch to be made up for you to take with you as you will miss lunch.
Taxi's are pretty cheap. You can either jump on one outside the hotel or if there is not one available the reception staff will call one for you. We paid 6 euros to the waterpark.
Overall, we thought it was a really nice hotel. What more could you want from a 3 star hotel, it was clean, food was good, drinks weren't watered down, entertainment throughout the day and night and friendly staff.
I would definately recommend it to people of any age and will maybe look into going back myself for a bit of winter sun!

I went to the hotel with a group of friends. San Agustin is in a really quiet location and it is very isolate. There are no pubs, restaurants, cafes or bars within the local area. You must venture out by taxi if you want to explore the island. Maspalomas is worth a visit and Anfi or puerto rico. These are really nice places, where there are loads of nice beaches, cafes and restaurants. The local beach is a five minute walk from the hotel but we did not go as it was black sand and looked like dirty mud. It is not as busy as other beaches on the island which have white sand and are cleaner. If you do walk out of the complex there is a steep climb back up. going down is not as bed.
The outside jacuzzis look lovely as does the pool, but beware they are freezing cold!! i have never been in a jacuzzi which is freezing!!
The accomodation at the hotel is good. I stayed in october and the weather was gorgeus. The maid changes our room regulary. All communal areas are very clean.
The food in the hotel is very bland and salty. i would not consider myself a fussy eater but was disappointed with the food. On a couple of occasions it left me with a bad stomach. Also be aware of the amount of cats staying at the hotel. A couple of residents feed them which is quite unhygienic.
The hotel has a lot of foreigners so the reps translate the language into about five different languages which is hard to follow sometimes.
The type of alcholic drinks are limited to house wine, vodka, whisky (which were not very nice).
The entertainment is appauling, an absolute joke. i could do better myself. i enjoyed the weather there.
You can only watch cnn on the t.v.
I would go to this hotel if i had no taste for food or food quality and did not have a social life.

Fantastic Holiday
9 / 10
Oct 2008, MandiJ

I spent a week at Interclub Atlantic with my Fiancee, his sister, and a friend last year. We went away for my Fiancee's 21st birthday. We arrived at the hotel just after midnight, there were lots of staff at reception, all were very friendly and helpful. We got upgraded to a bungalow at check-in. We were expecting a small one floor building, but when we found our bungalow we were surprised at how big it was. We had a terrace and balcony, both with amazing views over the beach. The bungalow was very clean. We went straight down to the disco for a drink after dropping our luggage off in the bungalow. The disco was very hot, and the drinks weren't included in the all-inclusive, but the staff very again very friendly.
The holiday rep met us the next morning and told us about the day trips, but unfrotuantly she was not there again for us to book any of the trips we wanted. However the hotel staff were fantastic, and booked a couple of day outings for us.
The food was brilliant. Lots to choose from, and really yummy! The bars were also very good, and you don't have to wait long to get served. They do go a bit overboard on the spirits though, but it's all free and your on holiday, so why not!
We went to Aqualand by taxi, which was only about 4 or 5 euros. The taxi rank is outside and we never had to wait for a taxi to turn up. Aqualand was a great day out and we would def recommend it!
We also went on the jeep safari, which we all agreed was the best day of the holiday. The tour guide - Gary David - was excellent, very funny. All of the other drivers were good too although they didn't speak much english. They also record footage throughout the day, and you can order a DVD at the end of the day which they deliver to your hotel. Well worth the extra money!
The hotel gardens are very well kept, and everywhere in the hotel is clean and tidy. The pools are also very good. We spent alot of time in the pools as it was so hot - about 40 degrees during the day!
The beach is only about a 5 minute walk, down some very steep steps. The sand is dark and very soft, but it does burn your feet a bit! There is a very good restaurant on the beach, which serves large jugs of Sangria! The food there is very nice and very reasonably priced!
On our last night, my Fiancee's sister had a serious asthma attack. There wasn't a doctor in the hotel, but the reception staff helped us get her in a taxi and down to the hospital, which was a couple of minutes away. They also arranged for a room to be avaliable to her when she was discharged from the hospital the next day, after we had checked out of our bungalow. The hospital is a private hospital, as we found out after we arrived home. Travel insurance doesn't cover any treatment you receive there, so if you need medical assistance, you might want to find a different hospital.
We kept our wristbands after we had checked out of our bungalow (at midday) at no extra charge. We had also used the telephone in our room a couple of times to call our parents back at home. The staff didn't charge us for the use of the phone. There is a secure room to keep your belongings until you actually leave, so you can relax and enjoy the last few hours without worrying about your suitcase!
Amazing holiday. Only bad thing was the rep, who we didn't see at all after the first day! But everything else was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!!!

We stayed at the Interclub as a party...
10 / 10
Oct 2008, Mr P Scrivens

We stayed at the Interclub as a party of 15 aged between 2 and 67 and not one us had a bad time.
The whole complex, staff, pool, entertainment, activities etc were superb.
Complex: Massive, lovely gardens, three pools, three 'bubble pools', playground, two outside bars, plenty of sunbeds (but get one before 9am to be close to the pool), helpful reception, outside entertainment area, tennis courts, activities area, 5 a side pitch, volley ball pitch, etc.
Rooms: Clean, well kept, maid service every day, no air con though so we bought a fan for 30 euros (cheaper than hiring air con!) crap views from some but we didnt go on holiday to stay in our rooms. Superb views from the bungalows.
Food: So much selection, three or four dishes on each of the themed serving areas as well as soups, salads, breads, fruit, sweets, etc etc. Well cooked and presented and tasted lovely!
Cooked snacks in morning - cakes in afternoon - ice cream all day.
Entertainment and activities: The highlight of our holiday. The team, especially Adam, Ana, Daniel and Thomas, were fantastic. Excellent with the kids of all ages, really good fun with the adults. Loads of activities to do for all during the day, to many to list and take part in, but no pressure to join in.
Kids disco every night, usual songs. Different shows every night. Well thought out and presented. The whole animation team were so hard working they are a credit to their employers.
Location: On a Cliff with steps to the beach (plenty of them, but Grandad (at 67 and a triple heart op) managed it with a couple of breaks!) Lovely cliff path, steps, beach walk to San Augustin. Always a taxi or two outside the hotel, 3 euros to San Augustin - quiet resort. 5 euros to Playa Del Inglis - busier resort. 7 euros to the Dunes and camels.
General: Bar shuts at 11 and doesn't serve at all after, go to Disco Bora Bora (on the complex) for drinks til 1am but no kids. If you dont fancy the disco get a few drinks in at 10:45 and take your time, we did and were always the last to leave!
Out of all 15 of us none of us had any major negatives from the whole holiday.
All of us would thouroughly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.

We have just returned from a Holiday...
1 / 10
Sep 2008, Mr JR Hibberd

We have just returned from a Holiday from hell at this Hotel wih our friends Mark and Lou. Where do I start with our disgust. We arrived in the early hours on Tusday 9th Sept and where given rooms above the Disco which we straight away complained, we were told to come back to reception later that morning. Then on return they said they could not give alternative rooms straight away but come back later when we did go back we were given a so called upgrade to a two bedroom bungalow. Well it was right out the back and obviously not used for a long time anf full of broken sunbeds abd stock. We were supposed to sleep amonst all this, we again refused but were told ther was nothing else. Eventually on the four day they found us rooms both above the disco which we had to accept.
The Food was appalling we went fo R&R (rest and refreshment) yes we got R&R in the food REPETATIVE AND RUBBISH.
The hotel obviously has a cockroach problem as they are rife.
Night Entertainemnet was embarrasingly bad
Bars shut at 23.00 hours whne the disco stared that shut at 1.00 o'clock
Hotel is on a steep hill isolated from anything around so Taxis are needed for any journey
On booking at midday we then found out that immediately your inclusive armband was cut off if you wanted to keep it until you got picked up it was 12 euros each but this inclusive started at midday on the 8th sept so we had missed a mid day meal and a evening meal as we did not arrive till early hours of the next day.The Managemant said tough and did not care.
Thompson Rep was useless and didnnot solve anything it ws all done by ourselves.
We would possibly return to Gran Canaria but no way to thie Hotel
