The truth from a fussy cow!!

My review simple
Bearing in mind im a fussy cow i was a bit worried aftee reading some of the reviews but this hotel wasnt as bad as some i had read so me my partner and daughter decided to give it ago;
-The decor needs updating proffesionally
-The carpets need recarpetting and updating
-Walls need filling in
-Our keycard didnt work the first time but after speaking to receptionist she replaced them was keen to help and very apologetic, although the keycards did fail on more than one occasion and always needed to be replaced
-The room I cannot fault i brought spare linin incase thats how fussy i am but it was not needed spotless and cleaned everyday
-Food in restuarant was lovely me and my daughter are fussy eaters but we ate well everynight theres a bar that serves pizza and pasta, one that serves fish and salad, one that serves chinese and the other seemed to be a bit of everything.Ice cream bar served different flavours even banana which i didnt even no you could do.It does get repetitve after a few days but it didnt seem to bother anyone
-The pools were empty and it was only when i got in i realised i was in the one thats "heated" and it was freezing you could fel the heat when standing aboe pump but otherwise it was cold but manage to get some other people in and you soon warm up
-Childrens pool wasnt heated but that didnt bother my four year old
-The animation team were amazing with my daughter and other children didnt ge to experience what they had on during the day as we went out nearl everyday
-The night entertainment was amusing a little cheesy and lame in some places but they did there best and i found it amusing
-There is a shop on site but only small and seemed expensive but even the spar at the bottome of the hill didnt seem much better
-The walk to the beach wasnt as bad as we thought it was going to be and on many occasion we walked to playe del ingles and even over to the maspalomas dunes although i wouldnt recommend that walk lol
-Our building tara building does have a nightclub in the basement not open to under18's drinks are extras not included in price but i dont no how much as we didnt get to go as my daughter is far to young we did on occasion here the thumping it wasnt loud enough for my daughter to wake p and didnt really bother us that much
-Palmitos park for me my partner and our 4 year old cost 63 euros she loved it I have been before and my partner was a bit grumpy about it lol they do seem to have a dolphin section that i assume is opening 2010
-Camel ride was 12 euros for adults and 8 for children
-We found buses very easy to use and not to bad on price either
If you would like to ask anything feel free to email mrandmrssmith75@live.co.uk I will reply honestly
We would go back here anytime nothing was that bad that it would put us of not even the cold pool lol
we flew out 23 november 2009 for one week would gladly have stayed longer the temps were easilt 26 everyday although slightly colder at the hotel then down at beach but again didnt really bother us was still hot enough

If you want to stay in ahotel up a long, steep hill, then go here, not! It is like staying in a creche with all the screaming babies and children running amok, some screamed constantly during the meal times. The food is appalling, it rarely changes and is cold. We had to pay 43 euros to upgrade to a half decent room where the non-English nationalities are accommodated. The English seem to be accommodated either over the busy "Bora Bora" disco or with a very busy road behind them.

The hotel is as a 3 star hotel should be. Your room is cleaning every day. Pools are ok but only one pool for children is heated. Great and fun animation team makes ur holiday more activ thanks to playing beach ball, tennis, aqua aerobic etc. Delicious cousine ,fresh friuts. Every Alcoholic drinks from 10.30 till 23. Lots of German, Polish and English people. The one thing i can complain about is that my room was located near main road so i was hearing every car, every bus and lorries approaching to the hotel. That was very noicy and annoying specialy in the morning after great party with alcoholic drinks;) The second thing is that u have to check out before 12 am. Anyway i rate this hotel at 8/10 . This is a paradise city belive me!!! im gonna back there as soon as possible ...
HAVE FUN!!!!

My Ruined honeymoon

We booked our honeymoon at IFA having been told it was a lovely quiet location, beautiful pools and view. How wrong that was.
We arrived after a longer than normal flight to a reception area that was nice and fresh and clean. We told them that we were on honeymoon of which they had been informed by Thomas Cook and they said they knew nothing of it. The girl was pleasant and said she would upgrade us. We thought that was fair enough and really quite nice of them. That was until we got to the room. On the second floor by reception, we opened the door to a stench. Entered and found no air con, mould, shower hanging off along with the shower curtain and 2 single beds pushed together one of which was broken. The only good thing was the view from the balcony. We went back and told them, of which the gentleman was pleasant but not happy about it. He gave us another room.
Again on the second floor by reception but a bit further along. We opened the door to be hit by the same but not as strong stench from the room. On viewing it apart from the smell and broken slats on the windows covered by cardboard and the shower holder was for a different shower it was better than the first. We went to find the rep to see if she could help but she was nowhere. We realised we would have to lump it for the night. Went to have dinner of which there is a dress code that no-one had mentioned and were pleasantly suprised at what we found.
After returning to our room around 9pm we had a disturbed nights sleep as the neighbours were loud until early hours and loved moving furniture and the road seems to be busier at night than in the day.
We found the rep the next day who said she would look into things. (She didnt get back to us.) We thought we would have a look around as we had not got the chance until now and then maybe have a swim. The temp was soring so we expected the pool to be busy. There was not a single person in the pool, nor many round it. There really was nothing to do. No shops locally all a walk away. The beach was either a walk down the hill and through a car park or a 400 step walk down then back up. We had had enough. Our honeymoon was a disaster.
We went for lunch it was the same as dinner the night before and for dinner exactly the same. We chose to go on a day trip on the wednesday just to get out of there. Our clothes were smelling from the room and we generally were unhappy. On that day trip, we decided to move hotels-at our own expense of spending our wedding money. The outcome... a honeymoon worth having.
I would not recommend IFA to anyone. It is very run down and needs to be brought up to date. The busy roads and many nationalities do not help the situation. If you have special dietry needs be careful as well as there was a lady there that they refused to cater for yet they had been told of this.
Had we not had wedding money we would've got early flights home but still would have cost.
Be very careful. This maybe a low cost all inclusive but i would pay the extra any day now that i have seen this place.

  • Advice: Dont go there unless you love steps, hills and busy roads
  • Activities: These are few and far between where the hotel is situated

Best holiday ever...Very Relaxing!

Me and My partner booked a last minute holiday to IFA Interclub Atlantic in San Augustin Gran Canaria which was very sponteneous for us!! but we couldnt have been more pleased!! Some of the reviews i do not understand as we had the best time!
We was nervous as arriving to the Hotel due to some negative reviews we had read. We were shown to our room which was in fact occupied by a work man whom we think was tiling in there, but when we told reception they apologised and sent us to the room a couple of doors away (134) which had a balcony, double bed, dressing room, and a excellent pool view. We couldnt have asked for a better room! I think this block is the best one to be in to be honest! The view was brilliant at night, the sun set and the pool lit up!! Beautiful!
Anyway an overall of the Hotel: its all very clean. The pool and Jacuzzi is lovely! I definatly recommend All Inclusive as we were, the service and food is brilliant. You can help yourselves to Water, Fruit Juice, Fizzy Drinks, Lager and House Wine all day long!! It works out so much cheaper. The food; you have so much choice for all tyes of people and you cant complain really. I can understand why people say it gets repetitive but atleast the food is good! Theres plenty of fresh fruit, cold meats, deserts, hot food and different hot meals every day. You certainly will not go hungry!! Even in between meals you can help your self to snacks such as cakes and ice creams! Its great! I didnt have ,many snacks but my partner did but that was my choice and i wont complain like others saying that there wasnt time or wasnt hungry...does it matter your on holiday!! Eat when you want to eat!!
Some of the reviews say theres alot of foreigners...well yes there is alot of people from different areas of the world but what do you expect...as hotel full of brits? well stay in England then!! It certainly didnt effect me or bother me!
The hotel is at the top of a hill/small mountain which might not be ideal if you have young children. The walk to the beach is quite near. You cross the road and near the hotel is some steps leading straight down to the beach (around 152 steps) which is ok on the way down but a bit lengthy on way back up but its worth it! Others say to take the road but i thought that was longer! The Beachs are beautiful! The sand is dark but i wouldnt say black or dirty!! They are normal beaches!!
If you like a walk as my partner does we walked maybe a mile along the paths next to the beaches, and you pas San Augustin Shopping Centre, and further on many Souvenier lovely shops which then leads to the Sand Loons/ Desert at the end which is well worth visiting. Also along that walk are some amazing beaches with excellent blue shores!! Ideal for childern!
For other longer travel instead of walking i recommend Taxi's which cost about 5 Euro which isnt alot and worth it. The taxi's sit outside hotel. If you prefer bus the Hotel staff help with that.
The only thing i can complain about which wasnt the hotel it was more the Holiday Rep...didnt see them when they were supposed to be there and they wernt much help when we asked something.
there is so much to do there or you can do nothing like us!! NEXT TIME we go we will go on the Submarine trip, aqualand and all the other excursions! I definatly recommend San Augustonin IFA hotel!! Wish we had stayed longer...we didnt want to leave and i would return anytime and im sure we will!! NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT HOTEL!!

  • Advice: Lovely Place absolutely Beatiful! Well recommended by us!!
  • Activities: Beachs and Desert. But could spend whole holiday at pool side in Hotel!

ideal for winter sun

Me, my husband and our 2 children (aged 12 and 10) have just come back from a weeks stay at the IFA Interclub Atlantic, all inclusive. The hotel had been recommended by a work colleague and looked the ideal hotel for some Winter sun ! ! ! On arriving at the hotel at 8.00pm (after a very long day travelling) we were very pleased with our room (family room overlooking the swimming pool)and were equally pleased when we awoke in the morning. There were 3 pools (1 being a childrens shallow pool)surrounded by lush green grass and palm trees. The food was brillant with plenty of choice, although it did get slightly repeatative by the end of the week. The rooms were basic but clean. The only complaint that I had was that the hotel was quite a walk or taxi ride into San Augustin town and there was nothing in the immediate area outside of the hotel, which was quite run down. There were plenty of taxis waiting outside of the hotel, which we used on a couple of occasions. We took the children camel riding and also went to the aqua park, which was also slightly run down but loads of fun for both kids and adults alike !!!!! On the whole we all enjoyed our holiday but considering the location of the hotel it is very unlikely that we would use it again.

  • Advice: A few bars and tat and crap shops and not a lot else
  • Activities: We all enjoyed the camel rides and the aqua park

Great place for all ages

This is a very nice hotel!!! I went there with my boyfriend we are aged 27 and 31. We had a great time! The food was very nice, plenty of selection: chineese, spanish and european. We came at night, and we got a room which wasn't very nice- in the morning the truck was loading stuff in, and the noise was not as nice, specialy after a night flight, but in the morning I went to the reception, and they gladly changed the room. It cost £800/all inclusive for both of us. For this money I was very happy with the conditions. The hotel park is very nice, and not boring like other ones. It has a lot of nice details, 2 swimming pools, 3 jacuzzy, brisge, palms, plenty of variety.
If you are fussy, then go spend thousands of pounds somewhere else. This is a place for people to relax and have fun. What else do u need for an all inlusive basis? People complain for nothing. If there are things that disturb you, if you are nice with reception, of course they will help you.
Don't stay in one place. You can travel around with the taxi (to get to the Maspalomas dunes: £15), to get the bus to Anfi beach (white sand brought from Caraibeas (bus 1 from Clinica Roca £5 for 2 adults), we went diving with Davis Jones we paid £80/person. Lovely. It worthed the money. We went 10m deep into the Atlantic Ocean. Coool!!!!
A lot of variety. Great Hotel, Lovely place.
By the way, comparing to other islands I've been to, this place was full of Polish and Germans, Spanish, very few Brittons (few, but noisy)... so you can have an ideea of what languages you may hear.

As we arrived at the hotel all is well, it was a very nice place the receptionist was very jolly and helpfull. We go to our rooms and they are fine, 2 (slightly bigger than single beds pushed together), bathroom clean, and balcony was a good size. The next day we go for breakfast there is a different range of food, dinner was the same kind of food for tea as the days past the food was very repetative and got boring. The drinks were fab soft and alcoholic and the local larger was on tap. I never actually had a "snack" as they were served from 10.30 - 11.30am and as breakfast didnt finish until 10.30 i never felt like i wanted any. there are 2 decent sized swimming pools and 3 jacuzzi's, there was also entertainment around the pool for a couple of hours on the morning and on the afternoon. night entertainment for the children didnt start till late everynight so around 9.30 you had children running around after a person dressed up as a fish. The hotel is at a top of a hill so it was a long tiring walk to the beach (Black sand) down a hill or there was steps but there were around 200 so would not be suitable for a family with small children or an older couple. it was a short taxi ride (5 euros) into playa de ingles which is where the nightlife and shopping centres are. You have to catch a taxi though as walking would take for hours down dual carrage ways etc. the on-site night club is NOT in with the all-inclusive neither is the tennis courts. Me, My partner and our 2 friends couldnt really fault the hotel until the last day when i realised my braclet was missing out of the room, i went down to reception and they said they wouldnt do anything about it to my great disapointment the problem was never solved as i feel they didnt want to no me as they was fully aware it was my last day all they said was that i would have to phone the police! the reception did a electronic test on the room door for who had entered and it was only myself, partner and the house keeper, i know i wouldnt take my own braclet neither would my partner who else is there other than the house keeper to blame. if you are looking to spend a holiday with Germans/Polish/Swis i would recommend but there were very few english at this hotel! I will not return to this hotel.

After reading the brochures and the internet thought we would go on a general basis that this sounds like a good place to honeymoon.
Couples and families, perfect! The problem is upon check-in we found that all British holidaymakers was given a back of beyond not adequate room, where the windows would not keep shut with horrid cold winds. After a moan to the reception we got moved to a nice room, known as a Junior suite.
On the first night we got asked by hotel what are comments were, which was a little premature, but after a night in the bar and to find that the animation team only work an adult show from 10-11 then everything closes. There is a disco onsite which is free entrance, but heavily expensive to buy drinks from.
The Reps for our holiday were so busy pushing us to visit a new little island time-share facility that it was pointless looking at excursions etc. The leaflets at reception was suffice so took travel in a taxi.
San Augustin and the beaches were great, but if you have problem walking this is a no no!
The food was good and and hot, some dishes cooked before you, but it does have a repeatitive stance every couple of days.
Unfortunately for us having experienced better all-inclusive hotels this one has been visited, and not one we would be looking as returning too!

We went here for my 21st with my fiance and another couple as a budget holiday. When we arrived it was early hours of the morning we were the first drop off wich took around 20mins, we checked in straight away this process took around 5mins wich was great because we all just wanted to go to bed. the food was brilliant there was loads of choice even at breakfast (not a full english though!!) all the chicken and pork etc was cooked fresh infront of you. The food is repetitive and there is alot of choice but at least you can have the same thing if you want. All the staff were so friendly everywhere, it was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in, everything is washed down every day all the sunbeds, steps, toilets etc. the night shows are very much for children but we didnt mind considering the beer was free. One of the best parts of the holiday was the fact beer and wines were on a tap so you can go get your own alchol. we decided to go to playa de ingles on the first night but we only did it once because we got ripped off and it was anoying because you just got jumped on by people wanting to get you in there bars. after this we just went to a bar called element in the san agustin shopping centre this was owned by a canadian bloke called steve who was very friendly and it was 3 euro a pint. we did a couple of trips wich were aqua land this was good but a bit too much for what it was but was still a laugh. We also went to sioux city this was fantastic we did the all inclusive bbq for 53 euro each but it is a must do for all ages, but watch out for the tequillers they fill half a cup with the stuff. back to the hotel our only fault was that our room was next to the delivery point and this happened really early hours of the morning and this effected our sleep as well as no air conditioning in the room. There is a mini night club open at the hotel after hours but this is not all inclusive and quite expensive. But we had a fantastic holiday best all inclusive i have ever been to and would definetly stay here again. Its not that cheap here just abit like home really so going all inclusive helps. The taxis are very easy to get, there is always one about an quite cheap it is 2.50 euro to get to san agustin shopping centre and about 4 euro to get to playa de ingles. the playa beach is lovely and great for havin a go at fishing off the rocks an plenty of crabs there for crabing. oh and you need to put your towels out either night before or early morning other wise you cant find a decent spot after breakfast. this hotel consists mainly of spanish actually from gran canaria (bit like our butlins) but all are friendly. You will get your moneys worth. Hope this helps!!! xx
