More like a b & b than a hotel
Rooms nicely done but tiny. We stayed in a superior room which was tiny and daughter and her husband in a standard which was an attic room with no space at all. The bar was the reception and the breakfast room and after hours the night porter lady didn't really speak English. The superior room was very noisy as there is a nightclub underneath the hotel.
Value, comfort and a cracking full English
I arrived back from Bath today after spending a long weekend at the Halcyon hotel. I found the hotel to be clean and tidy upon entry and a lovely little bar come reception area where we were greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome. The rooms were quirky and perhaps designed really just for using as a launching pad for visiting Bath due to their size. But isnt that why we travel? Not to stay in side your hotel room. With no evening dining available at present, we went to mezza luna restaurant in Kingsmead square-A lovely... more
Nice Clean And Comfortable
The Halcyon Hotel Bath. Finding the hotel was as easy as finding the change in your pocket, the large imposing town house is set on a row of terraced buildings with other hotels and restaurants. On entering the hotel we noted the bar come reception in my opinion quaint and indeed homely, the member of staff that was checking us in was very polite and helpful, we were given our key card and told where to go to find our room. The room was on the second floor overlooking the street, the room was compact but very clean and... more
Disappointing
I was really disappointed with this hotel. I thought it was going to be a good find and was really excited about my weekend away in Bath but it was ruined by rude staff and an inadequate hotel. I must admit the hotel looks beautiful but there are a lot of things they need to change before it has the potential to be a successful hotel: 1. GET RID OF THE MANAGER, HECTOR. I have never met such a rude general manager who knows nothing about hospitality services. They were numerous problems with our room which we could have ignored if... more
Management response from thehalcyon

The team at The Halcyon are very disappointed to hear that the above reviewer was not satisfied with their stay at the hotel and we apologise completely for their distress. We take the service that we give to all our guests as a priority and we will look to rectify any of the failings that he has brought to our attention immediately. As Owner I must apologise and I am particularly disappointed that the guest felt that the service they received was not of the highest standards. I remember the issues that arose that weekend for the guest and am very disappointed that the they feel they were not dealt with correctly. I can assure you that we endeavour to deliver a first class service to all our guests. Hector is a first class General Manager and has had years of experience in 5 star hotels around the world. He is particularly disappointed that this reviewer feels the way she does and apologises for their distress entirely. We welcome feedback and will look to improve the service we give.

Fantastic Weekend
Have just come back from a wonderful 3 night stay in Bath at The Halcyon – it was exactly what we needed, a nice break from work and we are so glad we chose to stay here. We had looked around and there wasn’t much choice apart from old style chinz hotels that seemed to be charging the earth. We like more contemporary hotels, the rooms were beautifully decorated, with gorgeous fabrics, really comfy beds and great walk-in showers – the showers are large (virtually double showers) and loved the tiles! We arrived in to the bar and had a... more
Great style and wonderful staff that made our stay in Bath memorable.
Having stayed in a couple of hotels in Bath over the past few years we decided to book a room at The Halcyon - there had been no photos on the website when we booked so was a little apprehensive. We arrived late on a Friday night and it was quite busy in the bar and reception area which looked so inviting - stylishly designed and so cosy with tea lights on each table. We were show to our room by Lucy who helped us with the booking of our restaurant - which at late notice was pretty lucky. She managed to speak to the manager of The... more
wonderful time, pleasureable experience.
was in bath for valentines day, on the sunday night decided to stay at the halcyon fortunatly there was a space. we had a wonderful time, lovely big room at the front of the building with high ceiling and good shower, staff were great and hotel was decorated beautifully. glad we decided on the halcyon
Fantastic Staff
We had a great time at this lovely little boutique hotel. We were moved to a much smaller room than was anticipated but it was dealt with in such a way it would be hard to be cross about it - as well the room although small (we had a one person in the en-suite rule!) was well appointed. Everything that you would need was there. This place is only going to get better as they have the core - great staff, a beautiful building, a fab location and comfortable beds! Can't wait to stay again Jackie x
Contemporary Hotel in Bath
My partner and I stayed at the weekend at The Halcyon - we had booked for the valentines weekend even though the hotel had only opened the previous day and there weren't any photo's on the website. We weren't quite sure what to expect - the bar and reception desk is one and the same thing which creates a nice buzz as you arrive but possibly could get a little congested but the décor was really cool. The room we stayed in was at the back of the hotel which was quiet and really comfortable - the design of the hotel was fantastic -... more
Beautiful, clean, modern and friendly.
The Halcyon hotel is a contemporary hotel in a grade 1 listed beautiful Georgian townhouse situated in the heart of Bath. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the manager, Hector, couldn't do enough for us to make our stay more enjoyable. The price is excellent, from only £99 a night. Very happy and would definitely stay at The Halcyon, Bath again.
