hotel from hell

We travelled to this Hotel for our friends Wedding they'd booked in the Hotel a Double room for 1 night was very pricy at 140 .00 pounds rooms were nothing special. After checking in we unpacked including a bottle of Vodka so we could havea drink before going downto the wedding & for a nightcap before bed.We went downstairs for a drink leaving the Vodka in our room & keeping our key with us.Later whilst passing reception we heard an argument between some guests & the receptionist ( Who turned out to be the Owners daughter) it was over a...

Best day of our lives
from howarthci
I have just returned from my wedding in Dalston Hall and feel i must update ' Trip Advisor ' on my thoughts. We decided to choose Dalston Hall to be our wedding venue after only being in the great hall for a matter of minutes. The venue was beautiful and our actual civil ceremony took place in the stone gazebo in the garden and it was simply breathtaking. The hotel is furnished to a high standard with everyroom filled with beautiful furniture and the food was outstanding. I have never eaten a piece of steak that was cooked to absolute...

Basil lives again!
from Tuftymc
I have to say two things first: 1: I have stayed here before, on my Honeymoon and it was one of the most special and wonderful places I have ever stayed. 2: things have changed... This manor house has amazing features, some of which I noted during my first visit. For example there is a tower with a "secret room" at the top of a spiral staircase. So it was that on the occasion of a special commemoration I took care to book this special room, on the phone, for what I expected to be a very memorable night. From the very...

absolutly fantastic hotel, service, food , atmosphere
from sarahdavey
on arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff who could not do enough for you, we were given personal service and the friendly member of staff showed us to our room and made sure we were happy and knew where everything was. The room was of a 5 star accommodation, within the settings of a castle, this was sooooooooo, romantic and ticked every box we expected in our heads prior to our arrival, the room was large and cosy at the same time, we found all of the staff attentive from the managers to the night staff. On...

A Gracious Lady
from RedFoxSaginaw_MI
Disclaimer: I did not stay overnight at Dalston Hall. I had first found the hall on a website (different than the one now), which talked more about the history of the building and the area. When I went to the UK in 2005, it didn't work out to seek lodgings at the Hall, but it was the first place I headed when I got my hands on a car. I didn't know that although Dalston Hall is in the country, the village of Dalston has a rail station. The Hall has some elegant cars at it's disposal to pick up scheduled guests. We saw them in the...

Bad, bad, bad...
from Wolfsbait
First off, may I start by saying that the reason for the trip to Dalston Hall, the wedding of my sister-in-law, went wonderfully well....great food, attentive younger staff and all in all a good do....however I'm not reviewing the wedding here, as this site isn't called weddingadvisor.com... On arriving at the Hall, I was initially impressed by the rather gothic granduer of the place....large oak door, sweeping staircase and minstrels gallery, everything highly polished with a professional ambience....an impression swiftly ruined by the...

Excellent hotel!

Dalston Hall Hotel is absollutely fantastic! The stay made my whole Christmas! I originally booked to stay at another local hotel (visiting family for Christmas), however we were telephoned the day before our arrival (23 December)to say that our reservation had been misplaced and they had no room for us!! What a good start to Christmas I thought! I rang Dalston Hall late on 22 December and made my reservation with Charlotte who was so helpful and even said herself she felt horrible with the way i was treated. Obviously sensing I...

Disappointing
from condaleeza
Stayed 2 nights on business - £80 per night B&B. Disappointing experience, and poor value for money. No lift and no offer of help with luggage. Large room (no. 4) which was warm, but the enormous bathroom was cold and had no shower. Pillow case not clean - looked as though it had been stored on dusty shelf - but should have been obvious to the person making up the bed. It was changed when I reported it. Later I discovered after a bath that one of the towels was not clean either but I didn't bother to report that. No toiletries...

Warm Wine !! ??
from Jayee
We never actually stayed at the hotel, but had booked to have a meal there. Our table was booked for 8pm; we arrived at about 7.50pm. As there was a wedding going on we were taken through to the restaurant by a waiter who called on some staff to serve my husband and me. My husband ordered a pint of 'smooth' bitter, and I ask to look at the wine list. I ordered a bottle of wine and as this was a non-smoking hotel and my husband smokes we told the waiter that we would be outside on the terrace. About 5 minutes later the...

Excellent Hotel and Service
from Teddies
We stayed at the hotel which is absolutely stunning for one night in September as a stop over. The Manager was lovely and his staff accommodating. The room, Room 7 was lovely and the dinner very impressive. If you want a relaxing break with all the feeling of a haunted mansion then you can't go far wrong with Dalston Hall. It was easy to find, very quiet and the service was spot on. An excellent place to stay.
