Hotel Bristol

The Hotel Bristol is a fantastic family run hotel which is situated at the foot of the mountains with fast access to lifts and pistes. The room was very clean, tidy, well equipped and amazing views of the mountains. We booked bed and breakfast which was continental style self service. Although the town has lots of restaurants most of our evening meals were at the hotel, we were always warmly received with the food being excellent. I can recommend chateaubriand its delicious. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights (3rd to 8th Dec 2009). It is perfectly located for the ski lift Felskinn and I thoroughly recommend it. The owners are very friendly, the rooms are comfortable with great views from the balcony and the hotel dog is very cute. We walked Meggie (the dog) most nights and were rewarded with the thanks of the owners and a bottle of wine from their family vineyard which was a lovely gesture. We recently (August 2009) stayed at the Hotel Bristol, Saas Fee. We selected the hotel on the basis of Trip Advisor. In previous years we had stayed in similar moderately priced hotels in Interlaken, Zermatt and Davos. As with Saas Fee we used trip advisor to select the best (highest ranked) hotel that would meet our needs. Our standards and expectations are high. We had a great time here. The food is first class, freshly prepared by chef Benny, and well presented. A different meal every evening for the whole time we were there. Rooms are well equipped and have wonderful views to the mountains. The staff are all really friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Very hard to say what is good value for Brits in Switzerland at today's FX rates. But the late season skiiing in Saas Fee has been great this year and the Buhmann family-run Bristol is a terrific place to stay. Near the lifts. Good basic rooms. Good food - definitely take the half board option. Good mix of people staying there. Quiet at night. I think all the rooms have a view of the mountains with a balcony. We'd certainly stay at the Bristol again when returning to Saas Fee. The hotel is pleasant, clean and the staff welcoming. The location is right at the bottom of the slopes and you can ski right to the door. Food was 'European interesting' (i.e. a little different to what we're used to) and excellent quality - we particularly enjoyed the fondue night. Saas Fee is a fabulous 'chocolate box' village, with skiing for all abilities and a super revolving restaurant and ice cave at the top of the mountain. We stayed here in Jan... more

I went to Saas Fee with my parents on our annal ski trip in the first week of March. This is something we've done for 20 years so I've had my fair share of alps hotel experience but this was our first time staying in Switzerland. Our holiday was booked through Inghams. This always makes transfers easier but particularly in a car free town such as Sass Fee. An electric taxi (the only type of vehicle allowed in the town) was waiting to take us to our hotel from where the coach had to stop. Things might have been more tricky if we had... more
