Not like an Ibis!
Much more comfortably appointed than Ibis hotels I have stayed in previously. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant - it's all good when you can get a decent meal and a pint for under £10. Rooms are standard Ibis size - with the famous 'pod' bathroom and fantastic power shower - and the bed is still a VERY firm mattress, but with a duvet rather than tradtional blankets. There was a flat screen tv, internet access.... Good location too. Will be my 1st choice if I find myself in Bristol again.
Quite impressed
I stayed at the Ibis mid February for a discounted rate of £50. The location is good but the hotel isn't that easy to spot if you are driving- it's next to "Explore" and opposite the Casino. You need to park in the public car park next to the hotel but be warned it is pay on exit and it wouldn't take any of my credit cards due to faulty machines and it does cost £12 for 24 hours. The hotel is clean and basic. I had a room on the 4th floor and my swipe card didn't work so I had to go back to reception to get another one- they then gave me... more
Basic
This hotel is very basic and functional. On the good side it is very clean. The bathroom however is a portacabin type thing that must've been dropped in by crane (mind the step into it!), although its clean and the water pressure is excellent. It was fine for me as I'm very petite, but it might be claustrophobic for some. The have an ironing room on some floors which was beneficial. The foyer is a reception area/bar/restaurant all in one. Breakfast is an extra £5-6 which I was surprised at, and it is very very basic. For the... more
Great location shame about the customer service
The hotel is your typical cheap & cheerful business/weekend stopover. Comfy bed, clean bathroom etc. The problem we had was that we couldn't get into our room, it is a swipe card mechanism, our card just would not register when swiped. My boyfriend had to go down to reception 3 times to change the card, after that the receptionist had to come up to the room with the master - it still didn't work. The receptionist had to then get the head of housekeeping who eventually gave us access to the room - this took 45mins. As we were then... more
Functional
Stayed one night after a business meeting at this brand new hotel on Bristols new harbourside development. Functional hotel with basic but comfy rooms. Bathroom is a sort of seperate "pod" inserted into the room. I was very comfortable and impressed especially at the price- just GPB 55 for the room. Breakfast was a basic buffet but again very adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful
Spot on!
This is a very new hotel situated very close to the refurbished docks. Handy for pubs, bars etc and about a 10 minute walk into Bristol centre. Very comfortable room, simplistic but fine. Car parking is on the public car park opposite but is a little expense at £12 per 24 hours! Ideal place for a 1 night stop-over or short break.
They put us in a disabled room!
We checked in which was fine with the promotional £50 rate, when we got to the room it seemed odd that the bathroom had disability fittings, shower with a seat, no bath, which seemed odd. The very narrow single beds did not have mattresses but rock hard foam. The room was very small. I called the front desk who confirmed we had been put in a disbled room, I asked to be moved but the desk stated this could not be accomodated as they were full. I could understand if we had booked that day but the reservation was made over a month... more
a budget hotel iby the Harbour side
For a short break in Bristol on a budget, choose the new Ibis Hotel on Anchor Road by the floating harbour. You could not be more central nor better situated for public transport The rooms are small but well furnished and the shower room is excellent. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast for £4.95 good value. We paid £49.95 per room per night. Suitable for singles and doubles although there was a family with children there when we visited in August 2006 Bristol is a beautiful city.
