Lagos Mare

Not as represented on the web. The designer of this web site deserves a pat on the back. Very misleading. Very far from the beach and our "superior room" faced a garage work area and dumpster! We checked in and never unpacked, called a cab and with the driver's help found the Naxos Royal. Much MUCH better at the same price too.

We pre booked Lagos Mare Hotel after researching hotels in Naxos after decising we wanted a little bit of luxury. The hotel website seemed to fit this requisite and seemed a little different from the standard greek island style hotel. The hotel itself is new, and it is different , its design is more along an international chain hotel style but not quite getting it correct. We expected a lot more from this hotel after reviewing their web site but felt rather dissapointed with it during our stay. So much so that we tried to find other accomodations while there. It is definitely not worth the rates they charge. - The rooms are bare and the furnishings give them no character. The room's lighting didn't help, especially in the bathroom. - A third of the hotel is still under construction. - They have very small balconies making it impossible to move the chairs or really sit and enjoy ... the lack... more

We have just returned from 10 days at Lagos Mare Hotel. The hotel is really fantastic and the service magnificent. We stayed in a standard room with quite luxurious facilities for a hotel in Naxos (LCD TV, hydromassage jet, really anatomic matress). The hotel is about 5 min walking from the best beach all over naxos- called Agios Prokopios. We loved the professional and personal style of its personnel who made us feel like our homes. This hotel did not live up to the web pages advertising it. Worse still, we had booked rooms with a sea view, yet were given rooms with a view of a building site. The management claimed it was a mistake on the internet, yet I had a clear e-mail from them stating that the rooms booked had a sea view. The beach is a good 300 metres from the hotel, down a dusty track, and is not private to the hotel and is crowded. All in all very disappointing.

Living in Lagos Mare was a terrible experience. Naxos is wonderful but I wouldn't really recommend staying in this hotel. We paid too much money for nothing. The hotel is located next to the central road making our night sleep impossible. It is far from the sea and we had to take the car. Walking such a distance was impossible. Moreover, there was not enough space to park our cars! Can you imagine? Living in hotel with not enough parking place????? We stayed at Lagos Mare for several weeks this spring and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was brand new in 2006 and offered clean rooms with enthusiastic service by the young managers of the hotel. Hotel Lagos Mara is less than a ten minute drive from the airport (but we never heard a plane), and a ten-minute walk to Prokopios village and the beach. we just come home from an wonderful week at lagos mare hotel at naxos- greece- new , clean , silent rooms with sea view, nice and very helpful stuff.its a new, hotel open end of may- and is very different from others we have been in greek islands-zants, rhodus, corfu, etc... we recommend it

Great five night stay in Lagos Mare, it's a lovely hotel, very young and trying very hard to get everyting right. The rooms are not as luxurous as they seem on the website, but then again when are they! Two wonderful pools with good facilities. The staff are helpful and attentive and can really help to make your time in Naxos a dream! The best hotel i've stayed in in Greece.

We stayed at the Lagos Mare late May 2006. The hotel had only opened 2 weeks before our arrival. There are two pools and one childrens pool. The bright green lawn is a highlight on the landscape and is punctuated by both a life size chess board and a small gazebo.
