Charterhouse Hotel

My husband and i have just returned from our stay at the Charterhouse Hotel. We could not have chosen a more perfect place to celebrate our 11th wedding annaversary. It was an ideal location and a short walk away from the beach/ town centre and other local attractions, but also far enough away to have the peace and quiet we were looking for. Lovely rooms, excellent breakfast, extremely clean, Marion was very welcoming and friendly. Would definately come again and would highly recommend. An excellent stay :)

We stayed in the newly refurbished family suite which was ideal for us. Marion & Les made us feel really welcome even to the point of trying to predict when we would return each day to ensure that the pool was open for the children. I can safely say that nothing was too much trouble! Approx 15 minute walk to Cockington and approx 20 minutes to the centre of Torquay, but a pleasant walk along the sea front with lots of things to see to keep the children occupied along the way.

this is the third time we have stayed at the Charterhouse, went with family this time and all enjoyed it. The hotel is in a fabulous location, and the hosts Marion and Les make everyone very welcome. The rooms are all well equiped with everything you could want. Would definitely recommend

We have just returned from a 4 night break, with our young son and pet dog. We stayed in the large garden room, which is ideal for dog owners as you can get straight into the lovely garden from your room. Marion the owner made us so welcome and made us a tray of tea on our arrival. The weather was very warm so my son was able to use the outdoor pool which was great. The breakfast that Marion prepared each day was superb, and so much choice. we would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone, a great choice.

Booked at very last minute (day before) and so glad we chose Charterhouse. Marion & Les are perfect hosts and obviously enjoy what they do. The accommodation was first class and it was great to find family accommodation that was in 2 rooms with interconnecting doors. Our 13 year old grandson (normally hard to please) was so thrilled with his own flat screen TV which had freeview and free Wi Fi Access. He would have preferred to stay in all weekend. We had a brilliant stay at the Charterhouse during the Easter Holidays. We come from Germany but are living since 3 years in London. We travelled a lot all around England but we never had such a delicious English breakfast before. Marion is a fantastic host and made us and our kids feel at home from the first day of our stay. The rooms were nice and clean, the extra bedroom for our kids (advice from Marion) gave us the chance to have a better an more quiet sleep. Upon arriving we were welcomed into the hotel by Marions daughter Georgina, who subsequently showed us to our rooms. Me and my girlfriend shared one room whilst my parents and younger sister shared a family room. Both rooms were clean and tidy upon arrival and were freshened up each day of our stay. I have to say I feel the hotel is under merited with a 3* rating, as a frequent traveller through business and leisure I would have no quarms in saying I enjoyed my stay in the Charterhouse more than any stay in a large hotel chain. We stayed with our dog for 2 nights in a garden room which provided access direct into the attractive grounds. The room was clean and comfortable and the welcome of an individually made tray of tea and biscuits was great. Breakfast was first class and service excellent throughout. Good location close to beach, country park and Torquay.
