Just stayed in TRH Torrenova for a week half board and the only good thing we can say about it is the views from most rooms are stunning! Our balcony looked out on the pools and sea and was really gorgeous but that's where the good points end. This hotel is advertised on... more

Myself & my 2 daughters have just returned from the TRH Torrenova, Palma Nova 270809 and would say that the rooms are rubbish but the actual hotel is good. We went self catering and on arrival all looked good. Once we got to our room it was a different story. The fridge... more

noisy and a battle ground
We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of October, when we arrived at 2.30p.m. the rooms were not ready and we had to wait until 4.30 p.m. The room was very basic but we were given a one bedroom apartment for just the two of us. Half way through the holiday there was a lot of shouting going on outside about 2.30 a.m. It then seemed to be coming from the corridors of the hotel, on opening the door, we found a lot of drunken adults and teenagers in the most horrendous fight going. People being bottled, things being smashed, and the police knocking the hell out of everyone. This went on for about 2 hours. When we got up in the morning, the staff had not even cleared up the glass, broken doors and to top it all there was blood everywhere. That was not cleaned up until about 10.30 a.m. Not very good when you have young children rounding around. Not a hotel I will ever go back to.
maids are thieves beware?????
went to this hotel for my 40th birthday just got back, went with friends and there was 7 people altogether,as a birthday gift they gave me a burburry polo golf shirt as a present in a burburry bag, this was placed in my wardrobe on the top shelf ready to pack when i left to my suprise it had been taken?????also my wife had one of her tops taken, there was no forced entry into our room i kept the key on my self all the time it was never handed in,so in my opinion the only other people with keys are the hotel staff??????,not very helpfull investigating this problem no rep for nearly 2 weeks only the last day, rooms are bland and the beds must be 20 years old, very noisy with people screaming when going past your rooms at night,i would try the hotel tabago or hotel waikiki, wouldnt got back to this one you have been warned??????
Bombastic Barcelo
Background We already had flights to Palma arranged from the local airport so we were looking for something not too far away from St Joan and decided on (preferably) Palma Nova. Following an internet search of accommodation in the area, a list was made based on the price, the write-ups in the tour operators brochures and other folks comments, a list was made. The Barceló was the 1st hotel on the list with the dates available – about 8th on our list of preferences. Environment The Barceló is located in the grey area between manic Magaluf and ‘posher’ Palma Nova – on the cliff top of Torrenova. So pushchairs etc are OK going into the town but quite a climb returning. Magaluf is approx 400 ms, P Nova approx 600 ms from the hotel. The hotel is more a series of self-catering apartments that most people seem to be doing during our stay. Our room was OK for size – 2 single beds plus sofa bed plus furniture that left ample room for the bits and pieces and pushchair we had. The bathroom was also ample in size and well lit. However the fixtures and fittings had seen a season or two and weren’t the most comfortable. The maids did visit the room. I would write more, but apart from one occasion when we terminated out bed linen by dumping it outside, I couldn’t definitely say it was changed. External bed covers were pulled up over the bed so it looked ‘made’, but the sheets were crumpled underneath. The maid did no cleaning what so ever. Facilities We were ½ board so sampled the cuisine on almost every night. The food was average and was soon ‘boring’. It was a menu similar (but smaller scale) to what would be seen in a larger hotel restaurant facility. Except the bread in the evenings was the morning’s bread – just harder. The staff in the restaurant were extremely efficient. In fact if THEY thought you had finished (or should have finished) your plate, dish or coffee was hijacked. The facility was small, without ‘aircon’ and in the evenings the glass windows mad sure that food and guests were …… toasted. I believe the staff saw the restaurant as a chore and just wanted to get it over with. By the by - the gym was non existent. Comment Up until midday-ish it was families around the pool. Then the singles groups arrived (mostly Brits) down from their ‘pits’. The rest you can guess. Their ages didn’t explain their immaturity including throwing glass bottles around the pool area and other rather stupid acts. Despite complaints to the ‘management’, very little was done to curb the over exuberant behaviour. That said the stupidity wasn’t a daily event although the loud music etc was. (By loud I mean you could not hear the hotel PA system unless you were within 3 metres of it) Conclusion We got a good deal – internet booked hotel and pre-booked fights (at sale time) so money wise, no complaints. Some there were paying top brochure prices, and even those that had ‘negotiated’ a deal were ripped off – once they started talking prices with each other. But when you go away and it states families then you expect a bit more calm and a little less yobishness. Our holiday was OK, we didn’t feel rested and relaxed but overall I would say 6/10 for the accommodation, its position and the youth content. I wouldn’t return but it would be a good base if you were 18 to 20-ish.
Nice Hotel but Noisy
I have just returned from the Barcelo Torrenova with my partnet and my 8 year old daughter. On arrival, we were given our key and given directions to our room which was on the other side of the hotel, and the lift is on the other side of the hotel. On entering the room the first thing to do was open the balcony door only to find that this did not lock. Back to reception to let them know, and was told that someone would beround tat afternoon to fix it. About 6 hours later and after another trip to reception, someone finally turned up to secure the balcony door. The apartment was very basic, and we had air conditioning inthe lounge, which couldn't be switched on, as there was a terrible smell from it. Another complaint was the noise by people coming in at night and in at all hours from the airport. The noise echoes down the corridors and the walls aren't the thickest. The kids club always kept my daughter entertained and there was always some entertainment on in the evenings.
maids are theives
i stopped at the hotel on the 13th august 2005, i had an amazing time on the night time, but in the day there was no activities on! i would recommend this hotel for families, the night life over there was just unbelieveable. the boys will love it! loads of fit girls. : ) be careful with your belongings, i had my phone robbed out of my room. has to be with the maids.
No sleep here!
Overall a pretty basic hotel with some stunning views of the med. Air-con is in the lounge area so the bedroom suffers from stifling heat. If you leave the window open you cannot sleep from the non-stop racket of people returning to the hotel at all hours of the night or arriving from the airport. The bedroom amplifies every sound! A pretty resort ruined by the constant harranging from "PR" people insisting you visit their bar. They simply dont know when to stop!........you pays yer money.....
What an Amazing Holiday!!
Hi my name is Sarah (24),and along with Louise (26) and Leeza (27) we Stayed at the Hotel Barcelo Torrenova and had the best girlie holiday ever!!. The hotel was about 15mins in the taxi from the Airport, only it wasn't our hotel we were dropped at! He dropped us at a similar named hotel situated at the bottom of the 'Killer Hill'. So we had to drag ourselves and our suitcases up the hill and round the corner to the correct hotel, which i thought was classic as i was the only one with wheels on my siutcase. Ha Ha!!. When we checked in, our room was ready for us and it was clean and tidy. There was a terrific view of the sea, but we wasted no time noseing around and hit the beach straight away. Having read other reviews on this site we were wiery of leaving money in the room so we made sure we took it with us at all times. (Having said that throughout the holiday, nothing was taken from our room and we found the cleaners were very good). The beach was great, but bieng lazy and hung over most of the time we spent our days sleeping by the pool side which was clean and had a nice atmosphere. But the main thing we came for was the night life!! The 'Strip' was a five minute walk and that took us right into Magaluf, and oh my god what a laugh we had. If your young and crazy i definately recommend this holiday to you as we had a fab time!! Over all i have to say that the hotel and facilities were great, the pool was great, the beach was great, the staff were helpfull in calling us a taxi whenever we needed one and the nightlife was amazing. Advise wise: - always carry your cash, camera etc. with you at all times to be safe and take plenty of Anadin Extra for your hang overs.
nice hotel but the maids are thieves
recntly got back from torrenova, upon first impressions the hotel was very nice and we were pleased with the room and the hotel, when we arrived it was in the early hours, we checked into the hotel and i also asked for the keys to the safe as i had been on this web page before we travelled and read many of the reviews as regards money and possessions being stolen from rooms, the manager said you will have to wait until the morning for the safe key, this was a little strange to me but anyway we put our bags in the room and went for a drink, the next day we woke and got ready for a day at the beach, as we went into the case to get our money what a --- surprise all our money had gone except our passports, well you can imagine what was said to the hotel staff and the response was go to the police station and get a report to claim from your insuarnce, it was definatly an inside job. it is a very nice hotel and i would go again but its a very insecure hotel, the management are a waste of time and the rep's are totally useless, as we started talking to people around the pool they all had something to say as regards security and the attitudes of the staff!!!!!!!!
very nice hotel
I stayed at the barcelo for a few days after reading mixed reviews. the hotel is on a steep hill which may cause difficulty to some, but the hotel is very nice. the rooms are fairly basic, but not in a bad way, it has everything you need & is clean with a nice bathroom. Try and get a sea view as it is on a cliff edge with a fantastic view from the balcony. I am normally a very fussy person but i enjoyed my stay here & thought the meals were also very nice.
ok but some problems
Well, we arrived at the airport managing to leave a bag behind, whilst me and my daughter went to find the lost bag my other daughter, nephew and husband were on the coach. My husband asked the bus driver if he could wait for me and my daughter he answered yes so my husband sat back down only to find the coach was driving off without us. He was worried and so were we, the airport arranged for us to get on another bus however we still hadnt found the bag. We eventually got to the apts and told the reception we had lost it they said they would ring the airport up and ask them to bring it to the apts a.s.a.p. We waited for days and still no sign off the bag. Me my Husband, daughter and nephew went to our apt, they were clean but basic. The entertainment here was excellent and my two daughters aged 14 and 19 came out for tea with us and then got a taxi back at 9 to watch the entertainment(nora,Christian and tania) there was a broadway show on which was excellent. The pool was big and clean and through out the day there was activiteis going on. I would recomend going to marine land and green planet as a day out it is fantastic!! And monrose bar if you want a drink and a laugh! There was a park for the little ones. We did have to complain about the cleaners quite a few times because they didnt change the towels very often or bedlinen when they 'cleaned' the floors they swept it under the sette and we also had to complain about them because when we was out they came in and my daughter had left her suitcase open which had all her clothes in it some of which still had labels on because they were brand new, but when we got back 2 skirts had gone missing out of it and unfortunatly never returned. The noise from people arriving early in the moring was a nightmare cause the corridoors echoed so u could here the noise of suitcases being dragged along the floor even when they were half way up the corridoor. Overall i must say even after all of that the holiday was fab!! and i probably would go again to them apts, we have booked a holiday for the 6 sep 2005 to majorca for 2 weeks this will be the third time we have being here it is such a beautiful island and the beaches are very clean, I would not suggest people with walking difficulties go to these apartment as it is on top of a KILLER hill the hill is not like any normall hill it is like a mountain and very slippery!! i WOULD recomend these apartments to any 1 because they are really very nice it was just we had a few mishapps along the way and the bag was returned the second week into the holiday.
