New Inn Hotel reviews
Jun 2007, Mrs L Grant
Accommodation was booked after looking at the hotel's website. Room we were given ore no resemblance. The hotel consists of the main building and then an extension built off the back consisting of two rows of extra accommodation. This is where we were placed. It was damp... more

from don32uk
the hotel is situated in the middle of a pedestrian zone our group of 9 eventually found a car park on arrival to the new inn with all our luggage in tow, the receptionist told us there was no parking at the hotel but they do pay the cost of parking with a ncp car park about a quarter of a mile behind the hotel (great ) but could she explain how to get there from where we had parked NO!!. so an hour later we are checked in, the building looks great very old and dated i actually like that character untill i opened the window to view a...

Lovely Stay
from melsbelle
Stayed 2 nights as family. Rooms very clean and comfortable, staff very welcoming. Ate in restaurant, lovely food, good value for money. Would definitely stay again.
Avoid!!!
from dogtordolittle
My wife and children became stranded in Gloucester during the recent floods and ended up staying at the New Inn. They were charged £105 for the privilege. The windows didn't shut, the room was dirty, my wife had to make up the bed herself and they were kept awake by drunks in the courtyard outside. I wrote to complain about their experience but the hotel didn't even reply.
Whats the fuss about!

Never, ever again
from meandus60
The hotel was recommended because of it's proximity to the Guildhall Arts Center. That is the only thing that it has going for it! On arrival, no-one was to be found in reception. The 'bar manager' eventually and reluctantly emerged to perform this duty. I should have realised then that this is definitely not a place that welcomed a guest. Surprising really, as it's supposed to be a hotel. The room was warm and clean and the bed comfortable. Thank goodness it was near the front of the hotel and nowhere near the Owtback bar where...

A lot of promise, disappointing results
from TheSonic
The New Inn had been recommended as a place of historic interest, and potentially an interesting place to stay. We were booked into the Oak Suite, with a four poster bed for our wedding night. The Oak Panelling, and the size of the room were good. However, the carpets were a little threadbare, and the bathroom had a feel of having once been lavishly decorated and then fallen into disrepair a little. However, the thing that really killed it was that we were not at all warned that there would be partying into the night with a club...

Oh Dear! AVOID AVOID AVOID

Travelling in a party of four we were staying for one night only - Christmas Day. We had booked direct by telephone and were assured that the evening would be quiet as the bar would not be open to the public. We wanted a quiet break and were happy to accept this. We arrived at 11:00 am on Christmas Day and the omens were not good. The place appeared to be deserted. Reception was closed and after a hunt around a man appeared out of the bar. After sometime we eventually booked in. We had booked the "best" rooms - namely the Oak room and the...

What a dreadful experience
from onourtravels
The hotel was booked for a large party of people (30+). On booking it was stated to the hotel staff that the group included children of varying ages and the staff were asked if the hotel's provision would be suitable for families due to the fact that the New Year celebrations were to take place in a bar area with a buffet supper. The person undertaking this booking stressed that it was and that "the more the merrier " were encouraged. The night turned out to be a catastrophe when we were asked to send the young teenagers from the bar...

Grubby and expensive
from Static1812
The room was in bad condition, rubbish old furniture and stained carpets. The atmosphere was grim (the note saying that it was forbidden to consume food and drink not purchased on the premises seemed somewhat over the top and unfriendly). There were no towels or soap. The bedclothes were stained. We checked straight out again and found somewhere nicer.
Friendly, historic inn
from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I stayed at the historic New Inn for three nights in July 2006. The first night we stayed in a larger room that faced Northgate Street. The summer heat caused us to have to keep the window open and the street noise coupled with bright lights from the Marks and Spencer store directly across the street kept us from resting well. The next day we moved to a smaller room on the back side of the inn. Both rooms and the en suite bathrooms were very clean and well-furnished and appeared to have been recently refurbished. (While the inn...
