The Antidote.
from AJBLONDON
At last the antidote to all those tired, faded glory, over pompous English country hotels. We stayed at The Grange from the 14th of November to the 16th for a "Hibernation Break" to recharge our batteries. The Hotel is in a small village about 1.5 miles outside Sherbourne and is wonderfully secluded and quiet. If you are after lovely large clean rooms, a relaxing time, country walks, superb food and wine ( pick any dish and it will be a good choice), fantastic friendly service and possibly the best relaxing weekend you could wish for...

Great Weekend
from RicandCaz
We stayed at The Grange as part of the bridal party for my best friend's wedding. Jon and Jenny gave them a fantastic wedding reception! The wedding breakfast was the best I have eaten, which is no easy thing when catering for almost 90 - everyone's food was served amazingly quickly and efficiently, all piping hot and each plate looking mouth watering. The rooms, gardens and staff were all lovely also, our weekend there felt very homely indeed and we were very well taken care of with friendly and genuine service. We were sad to...

Wonderful Hotel, Fantastic Staff, Beautiful Location
from kentyankee
Stayed here for 2 nights as friends had booked the property for their wedding. The setting was gorgeous, the food amazing, both in the evening and at breakfast and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were spacious, well appointed and spotless and the only noise was that of the local wildlife, nothing instrusive, just the quiet of the countryside. Overall, cannot recommend the place highly enough. Thanks for a fantastic stay
Excellent hotel in a truly rural setting
from Andy-Sue
This is a great hotel in truly rural setting - just a couple of miles from the spectacular town of Sherborne. Our room was very large with a patio onto the large and beautifully maintained garden. Mostly we were woken up by the sounds of the local ducks. The hospitality and food were absolutely superb. Yes - batrhroom arrangementsa re a bit odd - but do not hesitate to book this very nice hotel. We might go back when the sun's shining!
5 star comfort and service.

Attended a Ruby Wedding Party - a black tie job. Stayed overnight. The function was tremendous fun, and much of the credit for this goes to the Hotel, its location, it's splendid staff, the band, the meal....I could go on and on. Accommodation too was superb and good value for money. Again, the helpful and friendly staff gain top marks.
Management response from TheGrangeatOborne
A number of people have enquired about the position of the car park in relation to the hotel. To clarify this I have described it below:
The hotel is situated in a quiet village along a country lane. The hotel and car park are on the same land, however there isn’t a path between the car park and the main entrance, it is accessed via the lane, a distance of about 35 yards. Once guests have checked in, they are given a key to a door next to the car park which gives them access to the hotel bedrooms.
There are also two parking spaces for disabled badge holders next to the main entrance.
Please feel free to contact the hotel should you require any further information.
Tranquil location off the beaten track
from karate_boss
I stayed with my wife and 14 year old son for one night in this hotel. Luckily we had a Sat Nav, otherwise finding it would have been tricky! It's located in a very sleepy village which did not appear to have any shops or life - but admittedly we didn't look too hard. It does have a nice church. The room was quite nice, having patio doors overlooking a garden. The restaurant had quite a nice country atmosphere about it and was full up. The food was pretty reasonable and the service friendly and relaxed. I think there was a bar, but I...

Country Retreat
from Bion
As a busy couple from London, we looked for a peaceful and romantic retreat to spend the bank holiday weekend relaxing together. Friends recommended "The Grange" to us because of the lovely atmosphere they had enjoyed whilst attending a wedding there last year. In terms of price and location it was perfect, not too far from London but far enough! We were not disappointed. What struck us both the most was the warmth and professionalism of the staff. The managers Jenny and Jon felt like old friends by the end of our stay. The hotel was...

Dorset charm
from Salter
11 of us stayed here on 28th April for our annual walking weekend, occupying 6 rooms, all of which were very comfortable, though those with wet rooms found that once the shower had been used, they got their feet wet every time they went in there! That said, we all liked our accommodation very much. All the staff were very helpful and the dinner and breakfast were delicious. We were given a round table for our meals which makes a huge difference when with a group as everyone can talk and hear each other. The gardens are lovely and the...

Nice country hotel
from Maier
We stayed for three nights in August in a Superior room. First we were assigned a room above the kitchen which had all the smells in the evening coming from the ventilations. When we complained we were immediately transferred to another room with a balcony. My tip: Avoid room number 5! The hotel is situated in a very quiet village, five minutes from Sherborne. Don´t expect any action! It is a place to chill out and relax. The highlight is the beautiful garden. The restaurant was a big disappointment both for breakfast and dinner....
