Forty Winks Inn

Forty Winks is a lovely small inn, and it's a good value for what you're getting - a basic, clean room and breakfast in the morning in a convenient area of Trinidad. Don't mistake it for a typical business hotel chain or luxury suite (particularly if you haven't traveled extensively in the Caribbean), but if you need a safe inexpensive place to stay with friendly, helpful staff, this fits the bill. We spent 7 nights at Forty Winks from 5th June - 12th June 2008. What a cosy little place, the rooms are bright and comfortable, and there is an airy veranda for eating breakfast. The terrace upstairs was perfect for sunbathing in the mornings. Great place to explore the island of Trinidad from. Only minutes from the Savannah, and in the other direction the main streets have lots of restaurants, Sweet Lime etc... I saw the hotel online and what caught my attention first was the name, then the colours, i just loved them, so i made reservations.My home from home i call it, becuz, i was comfy,well relaxed, wonderful atmosphere, clean room,nice staff,very readily to to help you with directions, taxi, places to eat etc.Thanks to Pam, Dana,Jodie and everyone else who names i cant remember for making my stay a GREAT one.The next time i visit Trinidad,bet ur sweet life, ill be get my winks, at Forty Winks!

We stayed at Forty Winks Inn for two nights on a business trip to Trinidad & Torbago. A friend recommended the place. It was such a lovely place! Pam and her staff provided great service and help, which made our trip convenient and sweet. The rooms were extremely clean, cosy, and the nice balcony was a surprise. The breakfast was amazing! Look forward to going back again.

With a colleague we arrived from Holland in Port of Spain for work purposes. We booked to stay for several nights in Forty Winks, but upon arrival, late in the night, there was a misunderstanding. Our driver took us to another hotel and we started our work the next morning. No time too look back! Later the owner, Pam, found us via e-mail and she solved our non-show up very professionally. We really enjoyed our week's stay in this hotel and in Trinidad. Pam and her staff were all very friendly, and helped to plan our stay in Trinidad, giving us tips on where to go, great places to eat and sorting our car rental. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable, good shower, wireless internet. Breakfast was good and we didn't hear any dogs barking (unlike in another review!) The location was great, 10-15 minutes walk into the centre, and 5 minutes walk from Queen's park savannah and a road with good bars and restaurants.... more

From the moment we stepped in the door we were delighted. From the friendly staff (hi to Pam, Dale, and Lenon), to the bright colorful walls, to the rooftop deck, to the included breakfast...we felt very cozy at Forty Winks. The staff helped us to choose a hotel in Tobago and went above and beyond to get us a taxi at 1:00am. Wonderful huge shower in bathroom. You are a 10 minute walk to Ariapita Ave bars and restaurants and around the corner from several hot nightclubs. This was such a find and I would highly recommend it to anyone!<br... more

After checking 8 or 9 of the better known properties in the Port of Spain area and finding them all to be either booked or too expensive, I found the Forty Winks Inn to have good reviews at Trip Advisor. I took the chance and booked a room for one night. The location is in Newtown which did not appear to be the best of places upon my arrival after 10 pm, but I was surprised at the friendly greeting from the staff, especially at that late hour. PROS: location (center of Port of Spain); parking available; Pam, the owner, is very helpful; decor is great; clean and new CONS: rooms are very small; noisy, from the neghbors dog barking alot to the hub-bub of the kitchen in the morning (our room was on the first floor); breakfast was rather meager OVERALL: we loved the location and the friendly staff, however the room was terribly tiny!
