Just got back on the 5th November. A superb hotel situated close to the Kasbah/Irish centre/Yambo centre. The rooms are cleaned every day, with air conditioning in every room. The hotel staff are very helpful and are always happy to answer any question you throw at them.... more

We booked direct with RIU and got a reasonable price for a late booking. We booked a 1 bed apartment which was overlooking the RIU Waikiki next door. The room was basic 2 hobs a fridge and all the cutlery you could wish for.....This is supposed to be a 4 * rated place, but there was no kettle, toaster, microwave Ive stayed in better 2 key places. They supply an iron from reception but there only seems to be 2 irons for the whole hotel, and no ironing board either...so its the towel on the coffee table time again. UKTV is a no-no its... more

Stayed at the Riu Flamingo 1-8 Sept and had a great time. Booked a 1 bed apartment which was good with plenty of drawers and wardrobe space! The kitchenette was adequate if you only wanted to snack (remember to pack a travel kettle if you fancy the odd tea or coffee) The bathroom was a good size and had both a shower and bath. I stayed at Riu Flamingo 8-15 Sept with a group of 6 ladies age range 25-29 We had a room for 3 adults which had twin beds and a sofa bed - with the sofa bed setup the room in pretty small. Large balcony though, with view to Riu Waikiki pool area. Room is ok, with kitchenette and decent sized bathroom. Its not 4* by UK standards, all very basic furnitire. Pool area was nice, the hotel does appear to cater to more German travellers and also over 40's age group. We felt a little out of place as a group of youngsters!! Riu... more

I have just returned from the Riu Flamingo where I stayed for two weeks with my boyfriend. I had never been to Gran Canaria before and had an amazing time there! We stayed in the Riu Flamingo self catering apartments, the rooms were very clean and a good size, the cleaners came everyday and did a fantastic job. The staff were very friendly, professional and helpful and spoke very good English/German. The hotel is in an ideal location in the centre of the resort, the Kasbah and Yumbo commercial centres are just around the corner and the beach... more

Stayed here with the in-laws in October, 2005. Very nice hotel with good & varied selection of food. Great pool - very easily accessible via a ramp for the disabled. Friendly staff. A little distant from the sea-front (a problem generally in this resort). Hotel very clean with few children in evidence. Pretty cosmoplitan - don't go if you only want to be surrounded by English compatriots. Would stay at this hotel again but would need to be persuaded to spend a third holiday in Playa del Ingles. more

Had a very relaxing week at the Riu Flamingo, even with our 2 lively children in tow. The rooms were fairly basic, but spotless and ideal in size. You won't get a kettle though, but can hire one for 12 euros per week. The pool area is great with free towels to use on a daily basis. Be careful however if your idea of fun is diving and jumping into the pool. Its only about a metre deep in most places. The reception staff were fantastic. Stayed at this hotel in April 2006 and had a fab time. the staff are wonderful-very helpful with any enquiries that we through at them. they were more helpful that our tour reps! the hotel is very clean,maid service every day, clean towels every day and clean beds every other day. take a travel kettle with you as there arn`t any in the room. loads of sunbeds and brollies, complimentry pool towels from reception each day. evening entertainment was ok needed a bit more live acts, not just records playing. eating out... more

Visited Gran Canaria and stayed at Riu Flamingo on three separate occasions. Best rooms are the ones with garden/pool view. Everytime we have stayed, we have had this type of room which is clean, comfortable and great to sit out and have a chill-out drink before hitting the various Bars in the Yumbo Centre. Rooms come equipped with fridge, kettle and safety deposit boxes. Staff at the Hotel are curteous and helpful and sometimes more help than the Travel Reps!!
