Coral Bay Resort

The place where you wish to stay! For sure. We've just got back from Thailand where we've spent 2 weeks in Koh Samui and a big part of this time was at the Coral Bay Resort - Natural Luxury. Big and very comfortable bungalows, all in tipical thai style, with waterfall shower and an incredible SPA. The beach is so quite and farway from all the noise you can find in Chaweng, even if it is located on the north of it, only few minutes walking. WOW and WOW again! I am the husband the previous reviewer and I completely agree with everything my new wife has said. This place is amazing; you can feel like you are the only person on the island at times. The staff are so friendly; helping us out to speak Thai and learn the important phrases. The menu choice in the restaurant is fantastic and very reasonable for a luxury resort. My husband and I recently stayed at Coral Bay for 11 nights for part of our honeymoon and we loved it. We could not fault the place. The bungalows were amazing, very spacious and so authentic, they were also cleaned and restocked daily. The waterfall shower was a delight. Lovely resort with beautiful huge bungalows. We had a delux family suite with a lovely ocean view. It is in a fantastic location, lovely jungle like gardens and a quiet sandy beach with none of the noise & hustle that you get on Chewang Beach. We went to Chewang beach each evening to eat , it was an easy 5 min taxi ride. (or a 20 minute walk along the beach).

My husband and I spent 5 amazing days at Coral Bay. Our bungalow was fantastic. It was huge and decorated lovely. We also loved the large bathroom and waterfall shower. This is an ecological resort so it's for those wanting an escape without needing the ammenities of a luxury resort. We booked a week long stay here and ended up leaving after 1 night. The room was dirty, shower mouldy, the sheets stained, pillowcases ripped, towels were well past their sell by date and were beyond rag status, we even had ants in the bed all night long. The staff were rude and arrogant, when we asked for soap we were told it was a resort not a hotel and to use shower gel. We stayed at Coral Bay for 14 days, and we enjoyed it so much! I often look at my pictures taken there and long to go back. Rooms were nice decorated, really lovely bathroom with waterfallshower. The bed was a little bit hard though. Very nice garden to talk a walk in, many flowers and plants. Nice little beach, although we spent most of our time at the beautiful pool. I stayed with my girlfriend for 5 days in April. The hotel is well maintained, positioned away from the OTT chaweng beach area (although 5 mins in a 60bt tuk-tuk), and enjoys great beach/ocean views and a decent pool. On the plus side: 1) it is reasonably priced; quiet; with fairly good restaurant (looking over the pool and beach). 2) Nice ambience; lovely surrounding gardens and ponds etc. On the downside: 1) The service needs to be fresher, be more upbeat and enthusiastic about what they are doing day to... more

After a LOT of research on the internet for wedding locations, we eventually decided to tie the knot at Coral Bay. There were two reasons for this: firstly the resort looked first rate, secondly they organised all the legal paperwork for us (all we had to do was turn up at the British Embassy where we were met by Coral Bay's contact). The resort is superb - you couldn't imagine a more beautiful setting. The rooms are all gorgeous - every one is slightly different in some small way. We recently stayed at Coral Bay Resort in one of the Deluxe Family villas, right on the beach. It was an absolutely idyllic setting, fringed by palm trees and lush tropical gardens. Every evening you'd hear waves crashing on the sand only 50 feet away. The villas look stunning too, like rustic log cabins, beautifully decorated inside with four poster beds. However, you do pay a fairly high price for this, around 11,900 baht a night (about 175 GBP). The real shame though, is that the resort is let down by poor and indifferent service.... more
