Exceptional!
Exceptional! Following the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor we spend 3 nights in Hotel Ira (6th – 8th July) in room 101 (fortunately nothing like the George Orwell one!) and we were not disappointed. The location, views and level of service are truly exceptional. Our room was a small apartment that was quiet, clean and cosy, out multi-levels with a private balcony and a stunning view of the sunset, caldera and Firostefani. The pool is small and more suited to ‘cooling off’ rather then swimming. The breakfasts are... more
Fantastic !!!!!!!!!
We arrived by ferry from Crete on Monday 29/05/06, we were 30 minutes late arriving and the lovely guy was still waiting to pick us up.. when we arrived at the Hotel, and we saw our room 101.. it was fantastic... one word , WOW!! the view was out of this world, it was really something that will stay with you forever. I loved the room, and the Hotel, the breakfast was lovely too, I really thought that this was very good value for money, I strongly recomment everyone to stay there at least for one night, a real treat, I highly recomment... more
Wonderful and Beautiful place to stay
We were lucky enough to stay in the suite. The room was gorgeous and the view was smashing. We ate a few of our meals on the balcony- nice relaxing way to spend our honeymoon! The bathroom was fairly typical (aka small) for greece, but there was a great kitchen like set-up with a large mini fridge, electric hot water , plates, teas/nescafe and utensils. The location was also wonderfully quiet, but close enough to the "city" so we could make a quick trip in for crepes, ouzo or gyro. The staff was also lovely and accomodating
A great place to stay
We stayed 2 nights at IRA Hotel during April 2006. It was excellent value and offered spectacular views. Hospitality was friendly, rooms were quiet and clean and the atmosphere very relaxing. A great way to finish our holiday. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent stay and value
Ira hotel offered a great view and location was great if you don't mind a 15 minute (but very scenic) walk into Fira. Good breakfast is included. We were traveling in the off season and some of the amenities like the pool weren't open. The value was the best we could find for a room with a view, paying 75 euro a night. Manos, the owner, will pick you up at the airport. Overall a great stay.
Wonderful place to stay
We stayed at this wonderful cliffside hotel for 3 days early Feb this year. The view is beyond all expectations. The staff is excellent, and yes the breakfasts were yummy. We were travelling with our 19 month old son, and Mannos was very kind to give us the option of a single level room. But we opted for the split level room. It was quite fun... and our baby just loved the different levels in the room, of course we had to be a little vigilant, but it was worth it. We hired a car and drove around the entire island, and viewed the... more
Fabulous place to stay
We stayed at the Ira Hotel for 3 nights in September 2005. We paid a little more than we wanted to for Santorini, $237 AUS per night including breakfast, but it was worth it. The breakfast is fabulous and the hospitality of the staff is beyond reproach. The rooms are a big size, lovely and new. The bathroom was small but functional. There is a little fridge and kettle in the room too. The view from our room over the caldera was worth every penny. Everyone raves about this view but you need to see it to believe it.<br... more
Enjoyable Stay
We arrived with our teenage son in Santorini in late November 2005 and were met at the airport by Manos the owner. Manos told us we had arrived on the windiest day of the year and that really appeared to be the case! The ride to Firastefani took about 15 minutes. Our room (76e per night)was a split level room with a toilet (with standing shower) and a small kitchenette counter at the entrance level. A short flight of 11 steps leads up to the living area and a further 3 steps to a small loft-like area where our bed was. Our son had a smaller... more
Wonderful place to stay
WE stayed at the wonderful Ira Hotel in Firostefani on Santorini. Our room was very nice and breakfasts were great, but the best thing was the fantastic welcome we received. Kiki and Manos were the most friendly and hospitable people, nothing was too much trouble for them. They were always ready to have a chat or give help and made our stay extremely enjoyable. The view of the Caldera was superb and the prices were much more reasonable than many of the neighbouring hotels. Stay there, you will love it!
great views, service, and value
Hotel Ira is perfectly located, on the rim of the caldera (of course), but also the lowest hotel on its section of cliffside (many hotels have views of the caldera but have other hotels above or below them), just on the northern edge of Fira, the main city. That provides respite from the hustle and bustle of town, but the town is still close enough to walk to the central square (10-15 minutes; longer coming back as it's uphill on the return) and all the shops and restaurants. There are plenty of good restaurants within a five minute walk.... more
A little gem
Our three night stay at the Ira Hotel in Sept. 2005 worked out to be a real delight. Our original reservation with the Pegasus Suites was cancelled one week before our visit, and the last minute change turned out to be a blessing. The two owners of the hotel, Manos and Kiki, couldn't be friendlier or more attentive. The hotel has a fabulous view of the Caldera and is within walking distance of Fira. It's easy to take a cab to Oia. (The Pegasus hotel is getting a reputation for overbooking and mismanagement.) Warning about online... more
