Excellent location! Great Sunset
Great view from the terraces. We stayed for 1 night during our honeymoon and was quite lucky as far as the location was concerned. Many hotels are in Thira/Fira with caldera view along the hillside. Kavalari is only 2 minute walk from the road (inside pedestrian zone), so you dont have to roll/carry your luggage down the hill or across the pedestrian zone. Everything is within walking distance -- restaurants, shops, bars, etc. And best of all, we could relax in our rooms and watch the amazing sunset! The staff were really friendly and... more
Nice hotel
I was in last May in this nice hotel. I wont to thank you for our nice vacations that we make and I will be happy if we will find the time to come back this year too !
Fantastic Hotel!
Absolutely incredible views! We stayed at Kavalari Hotel in mid-September 2005. Reception is at the top (street level) and the rooms and terraces cascade down the mountainside from the reception area. A one of a kind experience! Truly a photographer's paradise! The staff was very helpful and really made us feel welcome. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely and relaxing there with a glass of wine in the evening was a perfect way to end the day. The rooms were clean, safe and reasonably priced. My group of 7 took a ferry from Naxos to... more
Excellent Hotel
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August. We had 10 people with us. I got the apartment which was very nice and the bathroom had very nice toiletries. The room was awesome. my aunt got the cave room and my other aunt and parents both in separate rooms got just an ordinary room but with a great view. The breakfast was so good and the staff was helpful with all of our planning for the trip. My room was # 12. This was the nicest hotel we stayed in for our whole trip it was more expensive but well worth it. We were very pleased with Hotel... more
Can't beat the views or the breakfast!
This hotel is adorable and I've never seen anything like it. I can't compare it to the other hotels on the cliff because I've never stayed at any but I loved our room and our view. I have to say I can see how certain rooms have better views than others so my advice would be to book early and request a room with a great view. I can not remember the room number I had but my view was amazing - it was a room with a king bed. The rooms are cave-like so if you are claustraphobic maybe stay somewhere else (bathroom is also very small and the... more
Loved it!
Great, helpful staff (James is awesome!), great rooms, great view of the caldera and of the sunset (which saves you from traveling with the throngs to Oia). Breakfast is very nice too. There is no bar and no swimming pool, so don't expect that. And getting up and down the stairs of the hotel can be quite a hike (especially with luggage). But all in all, I thought it was a great experience.
Would not Advise
Hotel Kavalari is in a great location but the rooms look nothing like the website. We were so disappointed with the room upon arrival that we refused to stay and checked into the Hotel Atlantis. Hotel Kavalari kindly did not charge us for our reservation after I highlighted all the problems with the hotel and the fact that I felt deceived by the website. The hotel is built into the cliff on many levels. There is no elevator so you have to carry your luggage down several flights of stairs. The rooms are dark, smell like cats, and... more
Enjoy the view
We spent 2 nights in Santorini (April 18-20) at the Hotel Kavalari. This is off-season, so we didn't have to fight the crowds. Great location and views! The staff were very accomodating and helpful. Rooms are average / adequate for sleeping, but we didn't spend much time there. This is not a luxury hotel, and you will have to wait 15 minutes for the hot water after flipping the fuse. Breakfast was included. Enjoyed our stay!
Beautiful views, friendly staff, muggy rooms
My girlfriend and I went there in June 2004. We first have to say that Santorini is the most beautiful place we have ever been to and we will certainly go back! The hotel offered wonderful views of the caldera and we ate breakfast on our balcony. However, the breakfast was nothing to write home about. Our room was small and the shower had some drainage problems, but overall it served its purpose. The staff, including Maria and James, were very helpful and extremely friendly. -Tara & Anthony
Friendly beautiful Kavalari
The Kavalari was such a wonderful hotel. We had a beautiful room overlooking the caldera with a cute balcony. The room and the bathroom was a nice size, with a refrigerator and a complimentary bottle of wine. The breakfast each morning was delicious: Hot croissants, greek yogurt with honey, fruit....just delicious! The staff, especially Maria was so helpful in choosing restaurants and the sites. Very friendly! Go to Oia to view the sunset...it is amazing! Enjoy!
