Hotel Gardesana

The hotel Gardesana is a very basic boarding house,ther are three floors,, no help with cases,, the rooms are small,, there is no air con` and you have to pay for a fan, " it was very hot in the room " we tried leaving the door to the balcony open but it was too noisy from the road they boast about "Our thai/ Italian chef can make anything" so if you like chips you wou be well suited, we also tried to" hire" a hairdrier,, ther wasn`t a one in the place, `I personally would be loath to reccommend it` but it may suit some..But MALCESINE... more

We visited the hotel Gardesana, Malcesine at the beginging of June 2006. The hotel was family run, and was very clean athough basic. Rooms are small but functionable., with small private facilities. Ours had a balcony which was great in the evening and overlooked the gardens and mountains. We were also lucky to have a fan in our room as the weather was very hot. Not all rooms have them .There are no lifts. Breakfast was typically roles, jam, coffee and tea, although other things were available at a smal price. Other food was available... more

The Hotel Gardesana was excellent value for money and very friendly, the rooms though small were spotlessly clean (cleaners come everyday!) Breakfast was continental but you pay extra for a full english at 6 euro. Evening meals were available (we only stayed B+B) very reasonable, I would recommend the steak and chips, (lovely! cos you do tend to get a bit fed up with pizza and pasta) definately recommended if on a budget!!

Just retuned from a lovely holiday at the Hotel Gardesana in Malcesine on Lake Garda. Whilst I can appreciate some of the criticisms in the forum we had an excellent time both in Malcesine and in the area. The hotel was basic but there was a friendly atmosphere. Breakfast was sufficient, ok two rolls and a coffee may not be enough for some people but why waste time on a cooked breakfast when there is so much to see and do in the area? Even for 2 star very basic Twin bedded room extremely small - ensuite was size of single wardrobe with a fold back concertina door. Difficult to shower in comfort. No air cond. so had to hire fan 5 euros/day, needed through the night as too noisy to have window open. Situated on main road - noisy motorbikes and two church clocks chime the hour through the night as well, but one slightly after the other! Very basic breakfast 2 rolls + jam + tea/coffee. Indeed the hotel is friendly but basic, however it is on a very noisy main road, and on many occasions had our sleep disturbed due to refuse collection at 4 am and motor bikes through the night. It is also not suitable for the disabled or elderly as we stayed on the third floor without a lift! There is no air con and the rooms are unbearable in high temperatures, found it very surprising that to hire a fan costs 5Euros a night. we were so thrilled with malcesine it was so lovely. the hotel was very clean and well run. we just loved it all .

What a great place! The family that owns and operates the hotel made us feel welcome. They are very nice people! We travelled there from our family's house in Germany for a few days....this year we are going to go for a week! We recommend this area and hotel highly!!!

This is a lovely friendly hotel, we are going back for our second visit of the year in a couple of weeks time. All together we have visited over 15 times. Carolina, Peter and John (along with mum and dad) make you feel like part of the family. Rooms are clean and the hotel is very central. We have already booked for 4 weeks next summer.

We stayed here late in the season in mid september & it was lovely. The sister and 2 brothers who ran it were really helpful and friendly. Peter even collected us from Verona Brescia airport and droped us off very early in the morning, depsite his wife being heavily pregnant and due any day! The accomodation itself is basic but clean and fine for what we wanted, certainly no complaints there. It was ideally located, very central which gave easy access to everything.
