We have just returned from a week at the IFA Continental and feel that it is an excellent hotel for ***.
There is a good range of facilities including the sheltered swimming pools and a varied entertainment programme. Everywhere is really clean and the staff are friendly. The food really was exceptional with themed buffets in the evening offering a wide range to suit all tastes.
The hotel is situated very close to the promenade/beach and also some of the local shopping centres. Buses leave from just along the road and taxis are plentiful and inexpensive.
Our only negative comment would be about the continual noise from the two main roads which the hotel faces on two sides. We had a lovely sunny balcony but the road noise was horrendous day and night. You DEFINITELY need ear plugs if you want any sleep.

Myself and a mate went recently and stayed in the IFA Continental, and what an amazing time I had. The hotel is huge, with 3 swimming pools, and a great selection of foods.
I’m surprised its a 3* and not 4* the service is great, friendly, and a really relaxed atmosphere.
All the main centers were within walking distance, the Irish centre just round the corner, Kasbar just up the road, not 10mins walk. Great deals in most of the shops, and the beach is also just round the corner.
The IFA Continental is probably one of the best 3* hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and would stay there again, its just soo local to everything!

The hotel was fantastic and we could not have asked for more. There were lots of choice with the food and the cleanliness of the hotel rooms and reception etc was excellent. The over all hotel was great and i think it should be a 4* not a 3*. We had a few problems in our room like light bulbs not working etc and the staff were up to our room within 5 minutes to fix it and the maids were round every day cleaning the rooms.

Our 2nd time in this hotel was just as enjoyable as the first. Although I have heard that it caters for children in the peak seasons, it is definitely more geared towards adults.
The food is absolutely fantastic, with themed nights such as Italian, Spanish & Mexican. There is such a selection, it makes it difficult to choose what to have. Like most guests, we had a bit of everything!
The rooms are very clean and well maintained as is the whole complex. Requesting a sea view or pool view is recommended as the front of the hotel overlooks the main thoroughfare for taxis and coaches.
If you like being beside the pool, you have a choice of three!
The main one caters for those who want some poolside action in the form of activities with the animation team and cocktail games. Another pool is for those who want peace, quiet, and a dip.
The last one is designed for the younger set but many of us adults had some fun on the flume!
Don’t miss out on the 4 Jacuzzis in/around the picturesque pools areas.
Both day and nightime entertainment is provided. The animation team organise daytime sports/leisure activities (for which you can win certificates/medals & bottles of champagne). There are also fashion shows day & night, which we grew tired with but others really liked. Nightime shows were varied with the animation team performing short versions of West End musicals,(Grease and Phantom Of The Opera, to mention two), and quality Spanish & imported acts; we saw 'The Drifters' who were terrific. We avoided early evening entertainment as the resident duo repeated the same set of songs every night.
Another downside is the drinks waiter service. Unless you are a good tipper, you will be waiting forever and a day to get served. Go to the bar and get the drinks yourself, it is 100 times quicker and you will see how much alcohol actually goes in!
Best places to go outside the hotel: For fun & games, laughter and Karaoke go to 'Shakers', just around the corner from the hotel. For drag shows, more fun & clubbing, visit the Yumbo Centre. It is also good shopping! Keane's in the Irish Centre is walking distance and can be fun for all ages.
You can get some bargains at the Kasbah but be prepared for the hassle from those trying to ply for your custom and watch out for the fake designer gear! At nightime the Kasbah comes alive, especially for the younger set but we found it a bit too rough & ready.
The hotel clients on both occasions have been predominantly German, Swedish & Dutch but we made some very good friends and can highly recommend the IFA to those looking for excellent accommodation with the opportunity to relax or have some fun.

Our party of 6 are not exactly youngsters (28- 40) but we like a bit of liveliness when on holiday.
Many of the guests were pensioners and although we did not mind a relaxed atmosphere, we wanted a bit of fun & games. But the entertainment team, consisting of a boy and his girlfriend couldn't be bothered and what they did sort of organise was pretty poor.
This was not a place for kids. Other than a nice pool with a flume, there was not much for them to do. Having said that, I only saw 5 children (3 of which were babies) in the 2 weeks we were there.
It is a clean and pleasant hotel with nice surroundings, 3 pools and good food but as it is a German chain it does tend to cater for the German & Dutch, who made up for about 99% of the guests.
