Nomikos Villas

This hotel is great - small, elegant, beautifully positioned, well run and it has character. The young friendly team running the hotel are helpful, the rooms are pleasant, well equipped, clean and fresh. Firostefani is, in our view, THE place to stay on Santorini. In fact, to be blunt, a lot of the rest of the island isn't worth bothering with and is vastly over-rated. While we were in Santorini, my husband and I stayed at the Golden Star and couldn't have been more happy with the accomodations, staff, and location! The hotel is situated right along the caldera, which gives you great views of the volcano, and on a clear day, Oia. I found the room to be very intimate and lovely. The bathroom is made almost entirely of stone, but be careful with leaving your clothes in the bathrroom while you shower. Just stayed there for 3 nights in May. Property was located right on the Caldera so was an amazing view. Watched the Sunsets & overall had an enjoyable stay. Room was a studio which was different (cave style architecture) but overall cozy. Staff & view however are what make this place. We were leaving early AM from Santorini & staff had a small breakfast made even though was earlier than breakfast start. The view is breathtaking and the staff is absolutely wonderful. We arrived after spending 6 hrs in the Athens airport (the connecting flight was late),the desk person "Demetri" was so gracious and charming as was the bellman, Kyril who had to carry our 2 huge suitcases up the many, many steps to our room, and "Despina" who came in at 7AM each day and was the sweetest young lady. We just returned from our 10 day excursion from Greece which included 3 nights at Nomikos Villages. The hotel is located near the end of the multitude of hotel chains (actually located in Fira Stefani). The view is absolutely spectacular - there is no true way to capture the beauty with photos (and we sure tried). The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. My husband and I spent 3 lovely nights at Nomikos Villas. It is a small, fairly homely hotel with what seems to be quite different rooms/layout of rooms. One of the young (and very friendly) receptionists thought that I seemed very friendly and nice on the phone, so she put us in the Honeymoon suite, their "best room"! (It pays to be nice to people!) If you want one of the most spectacular views on this planet and a quiet nuturing environment, this is the hotel for you. Great location! It is a short walk into Fira, the main town, on old paths. It takes about ten to fifteen minutes to get to where all the action is and it keeps the noise and tourists at a comfortable distance. Breakfast is served on your terrace as you are mezmerized by the beauty of the view. A fantastic way to treat yourself to something special.

We ended up at Nomikos Villas after having a bit of a run-in with the owner of a hotel in Akrotiri on the other side of the island. What a blessing in disguise! First of all, they gave us the Honeymoon Suite for 120 euros (regularly 200 euros), which was great since it was actually our honeymoon. The view from our terrace was breathtaking. We were originally to stay at Dana Villas but were bumped (notorious in Greece). Nomikos was just a few metres away but just as nice. The staff are friendly and the bar and pool are great. Breakfast brought to your room which overlooks the caldera makes it fabulous. Lounges outside the rooms allow you to work on that tan with privacy. The rooms were clean and nice, we had a loft bed, and a lounge downstairs. It is close to everything and easy to find with very few steps. This was my first trip to Santorini. I had a reservation at another hotel that I stayed at for one night and did not like, so I looked around and found this hotel. They quoted me a very good price for the room, so I decided to switch hotels. The hotel is very small. It has a small pool and a small bar, but the staff is friendly. They delivered breakfast to our room each morning (for free) and we sat out on the balcony and enjoyed breakfast and the breathtaking view over the ocean.
