Hotel Continental

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and were generally pleased with it. Once again Trip Advisor proved its' value. The hotel is very clean and tidy, although the lounge looks very 'tired' and in need of re-decoration. Our room was basic but again very clean and with good air conditioning. Breakfast was the usual continental stuff whereas the evening meal was waiter served 4 course dinner - italian style. THis is a lovely hotel perched above the town of Taormina. IT is a 3-5 minute walk to Corso Umberto, the main shopping street. There is a patio that one can enjoy that overlooks the coast and Mt. Vesuvius. It is a a breath-taking sight and most enjoyable. The hotel personnel were extremely helpful and resourceful helping us with all of our questions. They speak fluent English. The rooms are large with individual patios to enjoy.

We stayed at this hotel for one week at the end of May 2007. The hotel is situated right at the top of the town, which is built on a very steep hill/cliff. The reception area is on the top floor as this is where the road goes and the rest of the hotel is down the slope. also on this floor is a lounge, rooftop terrace, with really good views. I went with on a group tour to Sicily and stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The room was comfortable and adequate. You could eat off the floors, even in the bathroom. They have a dining room which opens to a garden area and serve all three meals. The chef is excellent and the food superb. You can leave through the garden area on the ground floor, which has a security gate for your safety, cross a street, go down a flight of stairs, and arrive at the main drag (Corso Umberto I) very quickly. I would definately recommend this hotel! It's 3 star, cosy, and has a great atmosphere. It's not new, but definatley worthwhile if you don't want a posh hotel. Staff is very very friendly and helped us in every way possible. Rooms aren't very new, but cosy and comfortable. The highlight of the hotel is the terrace with a BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL view. Spent two weeks at the hotel. most of the staff were very friendly and the meals were sometimes imaginative but became very repetitive. The hotel is in a good location, assuming you don't have any problems with 70+ steps to the centre of the town. The views from the rooftop terrace are beautiful. However, the old metal chairs and wooden deckchairs are not at all comfortable. The decor and furniture in the lounge and rooms are very dated, still from the 70's. We stayed here for 3 nights in July as part of an extended trip through Italy. The hotel is quite central to the main Corso Umberto that winds through the township whilst still being in a quiet location. The main reception is on street level with a fantastic open terrace that has magnificent views over the coast. The rooms are on the next 2 levels down. What a nice visit we had to Taormina. The hotel is very plain but very clean and the staff was exceptional. Very friendly and very efficient. my husband and I have just returned from a two week break staying at the Continental hotel in Taormina. We have not been disappointed infact it surpassed my expectations. The Hotel staff were extremely pleasant and most helpful maid service was excellent and even the hotel porter Michele was very kind. Beautiful views. Nice, Cozy hotel. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Hotel is a 15 min. walk to the beach on the main strip. Hotel is very close to the main corso umberto.

We were there the end of April, 2004. A small, but quite excellent hotel in Taormina. Great views from their lagre patio, from which you can see Etna above and the Bay below. The rooms are bright and comfortable. Private patios for each room. The staff were most friendly and helpfull. The meals were excellent. What more can I say, except for: Try it you will not be dissapointed.
