CS Vintage House Hotel

We stayed here on a detour to Pinhao, on the recommendations of a friend. Absolutely loved it. We arrived by train from Lisbon (via Porto) and could see the hotel from the train station. We tried to lug our suitcases, but eventually decided to send one person to the hotel to get help. The porters were very helpful and carried all of our stuff to the reception. Check in was very easy. Nice hotel, great scenic view of the river and the iron bridge. Restaurant food is ok but not spectacular, make sure you avoid the dining room and always eat out on the terrace, where there is a cool summer night breeze and a great view of the river.

My wife and I had one night here while touring Portugal by car. The upper Douro is very scenic and this hotel has an excellent location. Our room was fine with a balcony overlooking the river; the food was good; there are attractive gardens and a pool. This could be a very good hotel, if properly managed. The Vintage House is a peaceful retreat in a beautiful setting. Wonderful food, inviting common areas, excellent service. Quiet, romantic, classic. Highly recommended as a part of any Portugal intinerary.

The Vintage House is a beautiful property set on the banks of the Douro River. We were so pleased with the beauty and serenity of the place that we chose to stay an extra night. Since we had been staying in smaller residencials, we opted to splurge on the junior suite. It was a great choice. The large two-room suite had a generous balcony with table and chairs looking over the pool and Douro. The king-size bed had satin sheets and the bathroom was exquisitely tiled. We stayed here one night on our honeymoon. First, the bridge to Pinhao is down and won't be functional again for a couple more months, maybe three say the locals. This meant we had to wait one hour in a long line of cars returning from Quinta tasting to cross the river by ferry boat. Signs to the Vintage House Hotel are not prevalent but the town is small and we were able to follow the cars there. This place is a great deal possibly because it is so remote in N. Yeah, I would love to give this hotel an "excellent" rating.. but the overpriced wine store, the terrible restaurant (for the price) and the swarm of flies in my room don't allow me to... otherwise, my room was nice and big, old skool europa for sure, but what the hell, your in Douro!... they had a great pool but unfortunately no service, they tried to give me a hard time cause I wanted to bring my drinks with me... imagine, drinks by the pool?.. hello 1/2 the staff was very congenial and helpful, the other half really couldn't... more

After 2 days of exploring the Port houses in Oporto, we took the scenic 2 hour drive along the Duoro to the Hotel Vintage House. What an incredible surprise!! My husband and I were traveling with our three, very young children, and the staff could not have been more accomodating. While this is far from a "family place", we felt very welcome. We travel quite frequently, and this will always be one of our more memorable experiences. We stumble with this hotel while driving through the Douro Valley. An elegant 4 star hotel with excellent service and accommodations. The landscape and location is beautiful and thi definitely is a very romantic place to relax with a love one. The restaurant of the Hotel was also excellent.
