Citea Nice Magnan

My Wife and I stayed at the Magnan for 7 nights between 18 and 25 April - and the "be aware" tag only applies to stays anywhere in the Citea chain for stays of 7 nights or longer. For stays of 7 nights or longer, Citea have different tariffs. We found that we had been booked in on a "self-catering" basis. This is totally different to "room only" in that the room is not serviced daily. The room was of a reasonable size with good facilities and bathroom. The staff were helpful and friendly ,however it was very dirty and did not look like the room had been cleaned properly for some time.

This hotel was one of the better ones we stayed at on our trip. It was fairly clean, and modern, the rooms were a fair size and had a small kitchenette. The location was one block from the beach. There is a grocery store around the corner and a couple of good resturants close by. To get to old Nice you will want to take the Bus or walk but it will take you 30 - 40 minutes but it is a great view. This hotel had free Wi-fi access if needed. We stayed here from 22-27th October in a Superior Suite and found it absolutely ideal. Quite nice and roomy, with a dining/breakfast table, and a plastic table and chairs on the balcony. There was a double bed (a little firm but OK after the first night) in the bedroom, a sofa-bed and extra pull-out type bed in the lounge. The apartment would have comfortably slept four and was absolutely spotless. I would agree with earlier reviewers except that I found that the apartments were not the cleanest that we have stayed at - mostly dust and dirt that had gathered into corners over the years and since the apartments are white it was quite noticeable. It is true that the citea is on a busy road and if you keep your doors closed it is no problem as the windows are double glazed. However - the citea is close to both a hospital and a police station and the sirens were constant and extremely loud (double glazing did not help). Obviously they... more

We picked the Citea Nice Magnan specifically because we wanted a low-cost hotel in Nice with parking facilities within walking distance of old Nice. It is situated just a street away from Promenade des Anglais so although the walk to the old town takes approx 40 mins, it is a very pleasant one along the sea front and feels very safe because the prom is always so busy. The hotel does not look like much on the outside and although the public areas could do with a refurb, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We were given a room on the 3rd floor , with a balcony overlooking the garden and pool area - excellent location. Bed linen and towels are changed daily , which was a deffinate plus. Good basic hotel and excellent location for the Premondade De Anglais. The hotel is situated on one of the main roads but you don't hear anything unless you have your balcony doors opened. Hotel also had air conditioning which is a bonus. Old town, port and main train station was a good 20 min walk but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you directly there. Citea Nice Magnan was a basic but good value for money hotel, location was very good for the promenade and beach clubs, the Old Town was about 1 mile away, took us 20min stroll along the promenade to get there. Hotel staff were friendly, rooms were basic but had a small kitchen. Rooms were clean on arrival but unless requested rooms to be 'made up' then no clean bed linen or towels. Pool was clean, but no sunloungers and used by alot of residences as well. Overall good budget hotel.

This hotel is great. it was just around the corner from the beach. It is also is very short walk to a large grocery store, which is great b/c you can stock up on cheap food. The restaurant across the street on the corner is also great. The hotel had air conditions which is a must in Nice in the summer. It has good cleaning staff and the pool was very nice. Internet and bus service and across the street. It is also very easy to catch the bus to the train station.
