Stay away from this hotel!!!!!!
The hotel is a classic "bait and swirch" and should not be trusted. What you book is NOT what the hotel delivers. They are all about making money and could not care about service or meeting your needs. Stay away from this hotel if you want am enjoyable trip to the Turnberry/Troon area!--this based upon ten annual trips here and this hotel is the worst
great value
wa lked in off street and booked a room for £60 per night. lounge and bar looked lovely we asked for a sea view with bath but could only have either bath or sea view not both so we chose sea view. room was excellent as was breakfast there was a member of staff on reception very helpful and seemed to be doing lots of other roles as well very efficient. would definitely reccommend this hotel .
Welcoming, but........
Stayed for one night in July. Receptionist very friendly. Room was compact, but clean and quiet, not cheap at 80 pounds for the night. The breakfast was small, and the absence of prices on the menu was a warning.......we were charged 19 pounds for two wee breakfasts, that could be had for less than half that, five minutes walk away !! So, take a walk for your morning eats, if you don't want a sting in the tail of your stay here !
Abit overpriced
Well this hotel is not bad. It sells itself ...'The only thing we overlook is the view' As it overlooks Arran. The only view we had from our room was of someone elses car and a wall, which was a real dissapointment!! The room itself was clean with a comfy bed and clean bathroom etc. However it was really small and we were kind of expecting better for £80 per night!! The hotel has a lifeless bar and overpriced restraunt! However the staff were really friendly. This hotel is really nice, no major problems, just a... more
Friendly staff and lovely clean rooms
Stayed at the Horizon in a family room for two nights. £30 per adult and £10 per child on bed and breakfast basis. Recently renovated room was HUGE. Hairdryer, kettle, iron and board, usual toiletries. Fantastic breakfast with cereals, fruit juices, yogurts and a full Scottish breakfast of your choice. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Right on the seafront with playparks and mini golf 2mins walk. 10mins stroll to main shopping area. Ample parking. Will certainly return if in the area again.
Magnicient Hotel in Ayr
On business in Ayr I recently stayed at the Horizon Hotel which is overlooks the sea and made my stay feel for like a holiday than a business trip. The hotel is obviously managed well, as I arrived at 3am in the morning and was even greeted with a smile by the night porter. My room was exceptionally clean, modern and quite contemporary instead of an old portable TV on the wall there was a Samsung HD LCD screen tastefully wall mounted with a full seclection of channels (TV is always high on a priority list when working away).<br... more
Wonderful staff and brill location
My family and I stayed at this hotel after Christmas to attend a wedding in Ayr. On arrival the two rooms allocated were fine and had sea views, unfortunately the toilet was broken in our family room, so we all had to move rooms - we were very happy that they moved us all as we wanted our 17 year old within close proximity. The rooms they moved us to had obviously had a revamp - rooms 10 and 11. They were beautifully and tastefully decorated. The family room was extremely spacious and both rooms very clean. My daughter's room... more
Horizon was brilliant
We we touring Scotland and just stumbled across this gem The sign said prices from £35 and for two of us in a double we were charged £75 which was pretty close. The lady on reception was so friendly and helpful, as were all the staff we spoke to. We went up to our room and discovered our "double" was a double with an additional large single. It was an attic room but was really large and the view from the dorma window was a fantastic sea view. The hotel was literally moments from the sea. Parking was a little limited (we got... more
Loved the Horizon!
Stayed in the horizon for 2 nights with my husband and must say it is an excellent hotel, rooms very well equipped and comfortable. Had dinner in the glass house restaurant and the food was excellent and big portions! Definitely stay here again
Average
average hotel which is a little expensive at £80 for b&b. the rooms are a little dated as this is an old property with a new section added where the public areas are
Best 3 star hotel ever!
This hotel is definitely a 3 star hotel, but that being said, it is probably the best 3 star hotel I have ever stayed in. We booked 2 single rooms for 3 nights in October, and ended up getting 1 double and 1 triple room. We found the beds very comfortable, and the decor of the rooms was well-done and fairly new. We also found them quite roomy, with plenty of storage space. Best of all, the rooms and public areas are kept meticulously clean. And the high quality fluffy white towels were nice too! Tea, coffee, and shortbread... more
