Grand Hotel Residencia

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Residencia in September of last year. I felt compelled to write a review about this hotel, as it is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Luxury is a word that best describes this hotel. The staff were very attentive, including the two managers, very hands on. Much of what has been said in previous reviews is true and need not be repeated here: the rooms are well furnished, the hotel itself is well maintained and the general level of service is high. What marks it down in my estimation is: - restaurant service inattentive. On each of the three nights we ate there, an error was made in our order. everything a hotel should be , A very relaxing area around the poool wirth plwenty of space . A good service for towels, mattresses an d drinks etc.. the foodl was wonderfully variied and the servbice ewa s excellend , the staff were so friendly THE. eating on the verandah was amazing wit viewd of the hills and the sunsewt. We realised we had found something special when several people told us this was their fifth and sixth visit - and the hotel has only been open six years! Located a 10 minute walk away from the dunes of Maspalomas on the almost perennially sunny isle of Gran Canaria, the hotel is a moderate size (80+ rooms), small enough to guarantee personal service, but large enough to have facilities to keep you amused. My partner and I spent a week at this wonderful hotel at the end of July 2006 and I can't say enough about this fantastic property. The public rooms were well appointed, the guest rooms were comfortable & clean, and the meals were of gourmet quality. The staff went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met, they knew us by name after the first day and always seemed interested in our well being. My husband and I have visited the Residencia on 2 successive years, which, in itself is a feat, given that there are so many places to visit and so little ( relatively speaking, in terms of available holidays, not life expectancy !! ) time to do this in . We absolutely love this place, no getting up at the crack of dawn to get a towel on a sunbed, ( not that we have ever subscribed to this practice) but get up when you like,breakfast available 'til 11am, with a veritable feast there to suit even the most jaded palate. This Hotel truly deserves its 5 star rating, which sadly is all too rare these days. The position of the Hotel is ideal for local amenities, the staff are genuinely friendly and the cleanliness unparalleled. This is not a Hotel however for those seeking activity beyond swimming and a few exercise machines, it is a haven for rest and relaxation and the absence of children is especially welcome to the peace and quiet seeker.
