Tryp Orly

We've just returned from a weekend in San Sebastian, where we spent a couple of nights at Tryp Orly. We got a really good rate through the Solmelia parent group website (80 Euros per night, inc. tax). Rooms are very clean and well-equipped, but after reading the other reviews, we feel we may have got an average room in comparison, perhaps because of the low rate we paid. Location is fantastic for the beach & shops. Also good views of the sea from the room we had. However the rooms are somewhat tatty for the prices charged for this hotel. Additionally the breakfast buffet was pretty basic & of a low quality. This can be said also of the attached dining area that looks like it has been built by a bunch of cowboys who did not finish the Job. However the Staff including the managers were all helpfull.

This was our first trip to San Sebastian as a couple and we were a bit unsure of what to expect. The Tryp Orly is ideal. Located right across from the beach, only minutes from the main shopping areas and the old city. A wonderful coffee shop/ bar included. We loved it. Very quiet and peaceful which is what we wanted! Would we go again? Can't wait. The staff were friendly and charming particularlythe accommodation assistants. A reading room next to the lobby is greart for watching the world go by.

We stayed 1 night in the typ orly. Fantastic room ( room 505 - amazing view of sea and city, nice balcony). The public rooms are a bit tatty but the service very friendly, rooms fanastic ( did I say the view is out of this world?!) very handy location right by the beach and easy walk to the old town. This is a great city, well worth a visit. We also stayed at the maria christina but we prefered this one as it was friendly-er and the view nicer.

This hotel was very nice and in a great location. The famous horseshoe bay is only a few paces away. It was a little bit pricey (depending on your budget) but is central to everything.

Just returned from six nights staying in this hotel and it was an excellent choice. Stayed in room 302 and it had wonderful views over the ocean.The room was large with excellent air con and for you news junkies the tv had Fox and CNN (lol)!!.The bathroom was quite small but had an excellent shower over the bath.The hotel location is excellent as it was a two minute walk to the brilliant beach and ten min walk to the old town.As mentioned in another review a nice touch was the coffee at night in the lobby.San Sebastian was a beatiful city to... more

June 2005 stayed for 2 nights. Excellent location, 1/2 block from a beautiful beach, could see it from our window although we didn't upgrade to a view room. Very nice room, very clean & modern hi-rise. Excellent night sleep, quiet. Breakfast buffet included in room rate, very nice selection. Great service, very nice front desk staff helped with all kinds of questions and there was always someone there who spoke some english. In the evenings, the lobby had free coffee and pastries, an unexpected treat. Would definitely stay there again.

My wife and were at the Tryp Orly for 10 nights and it was great!! Close to everything, very nice people, bank right across the street to cash in travelers checks and it just goes on and on. Great and would stay there any time!!!! The "Hollywood" bar right next to it is very fun and great owner!! Help with getting us to a soccor game. Offered his tickets! Only in Spain!!!

Good location. Ask for a room on top floor and you can se the Concha--beach. Nice rooms, great bathrooms, reception a let-down. Have tapas at Gandarias bar in Old Town, it´s the best.

Stopped there for a couple of days during our honeymoon in early November. What a deal -- only 52 euro per night (about $65 after conversion and 7% tax). Standard, modern rooms were quite decent. The staff was very cordial and helpful (though not exactly warm). They helped us plan our way around, and making a lunch reservation. Location was pretty close to the water, and not far from the old city. It was a great base to explore from, especially at the price.
