Terrible- no heating, rude staff!
from stoneageukltd
We booked this hotel for a valentines break, we booked it mainly because we liked the fact we could bring our dog (little bischon) and the lady was very friendly on the phone. when we got to the hotel, the room was big HOWEVER it was freezing!!!! my partner asked for the heating to be put on and the lady said they couldnt afford it more than 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening. when i say the room was cold i mean COLD!!! we attempted to sleep for a bit (as we were very tired after journey) but it was ridiculous. we ended up going...

great family run hotel
from daisy083
Stayed here with friends. The hotel was spotlessly clean. it is run by three generations all of whom are very friendly and helpful, they give us plenty of information about the island and various places to eat. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is visiting the Isle of Wight.
Love this place!
from TravellingBob_8
I don't normally do this, but Mary and Kim (the owners) were such friendly and helpful hosts when we stayed at this lovely little hotel in August. We were actually due to go camping in Wales, but completely chickened out because of the awful weather. Instead, we managed to secure one of the family rooms at the Heatherleigh for four nights. The room itself was a good size and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were wonderful for the whole family, and always served with courtesy and smiles. What will bring us back to this hotel most of all was...

Loved the family atmosphere
from DipsyAberdeen
Spent a long fantastic weekend staying at the Heatherleigh Hotel in the Isle of Wight and would like to pass on my recommendation to any person out there looking for a place to stay in the area. The location of this hotel was excellent for exploring the island and the accommodation provided was both clean and comfortable. During my stay I found this family run establishment a pleasant place to rest at the end of a hectic day sightseeing and shopping. The real plus to this hotel is the friendly, helpful family that run it. They could...

What a Gem !

Just had to post a wee note of thanks to all at the Heatherleigh Hotel for the Fantastic week's holiday we have just had. On arrival the beautiful gardens were first to bring a smile to our face and the warm welcome we received inside kept it there :). This Guest House is clean and nicely decorated...essential in my opinion... with nicely presented rooms and a cosy bar ! The Location could not have been better and we idled our days walking into the nearby beautiful village for lazy lunches, brisk walks along the cliffs..(yes...

A Wonderful Stay!
from Bumpsaway
A lovely friendly family run Hotel. Had the warmest welcome, breakfast was excellent - nothing was too much trouble. Lots of information about things to do and places to visit. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this Hotel. An extremely convivial atmosphere. Would like to thank the hosts and assure them of a return visit!
Beautiful Location.

This was my second visit to the Heatherleigh this year. the hotel is suited in a beautiful part of the isle of wight. A short walk and your at the beach, the shops and attractions. Kim and Mary made me feel extremely welcome, nothing was to much trouble.I have problems with various food intolerance, this was not an issue for them, and they ensured i was able to have a wonderful breakfast, huge choice, both cooked and cereals, as well as lovely fresh fruit. All of which you could eat aboundance. (and i did :-) ) The room was very comfortable...

Good service
from 454657416
We arrived in Shanklin with no-where booked, the local tourist information office found us a room in the Heatherleigh. I'm not sure if it is a hotel or a bed and breakfast, somewhere in-between probably. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a huge room on the the ground floor, with a big bed but small shower room (no bath). Everything seemed to work and was clean, good English breakfast. The hotel is only a few minutes from the beach, village and coast path.
Worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune to stay in.
from TRCLondon
This is, without a doubt the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The owners are extremely rude and I would even go so far as to say hostile. I don't know why they're in the 'hospitality' industry AT ALL. My room was dirty and I found hairs on my supposedly clean bedding. As for the breakfast, find a cafe is all I can say. You can probably gather that I would NEVER return to this guest house and would urge anyone going to the Isle of Wight to stay elsewhere.
Management response from poppy044
We were surprised with this revue. We can only suppose itwas from the family we asked to leave because their badly behaved children who were intent on distruction and ruining all our other guests stay at the Heatherleigh As for cleanliness and poor food, in July we were awarded 4**** silver by Visit Britain so we know this is out of spite and should be ignored Mary G Heatherleigh
Super Hospitality
from pascha
I had the priviledge of staying at the Heatherleigh last week. The hotel is owned by absolutely delightful people Mary and Kim (mother and daughter). The accommodation is extremely comfortable and immaculate. The food delicious and the hospitality second to none. I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful hotel.
