Loved it
Having just spent a three day all inclusive break I must say that we have enjoyed every minute. Stunning sea views, friendly service, good food and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.
Beautiful hotel and decor
I stayed here for one night on business mid week. I was bowled over by the view (I had room 23) and it was beautiful, overlooking the sea. It was a shame I was there on business and would definitely go back, taking my partner with me as ideally it is for couples. The meal in the restaurant (they do dinner B&B deals) was wonderful, the only shame was that as it was off peak, there were no other guests eating and therefore little atmosphere. I can imagine in the peak of the summer, it gets very busy and therefore gives you everything you want.... more
Room for improvement
This was a last minute booking on april 22nd, when we called the hotel and booked in the morning, they said we could come over at any time which was better than booking in advance otherwise we'd never of known that we could check in early and take in the fantastic views. Upon entering the hotel we thought it was a bit "posh", reception staff were very polite and helpful, and took us directly to our room on the first floor, were we immediately went out to the shared balcony, the weather was beautiful, views were breathtaking, although... more
Brilliant view
Read the tripadvisor reviews and went for room 20, it has the most brilliant view and is away at the side of the hotel. Who in their right mind would chose a honey/cream carpet for the stairs in a hotel? Well they need to reivew their thinking, it is stained and beginning to wear, which is a shame as this lets down the otherwise brilliant modern, light decor. Great Staff, including a quirky Greek! Parking a problem but not impossible. Food was a bit of a let down, I chose wisely but my husband's rib eye was not impressive for the... more
Fill your Boots
Ignored the advice re proximity to Kitchen & went for Room 17- Plenty of space & great balcony & view- who cares it was zero degrees - just put a jumper on and sup the local ale (Ventnor brewery nearby) while watching the surfers freeze and the scenery roll by. Yes its a bit noisy during dinner time- but you should be out of your room then anyway. Room could do with more imaginitive layout, but good quality, no cracks on the ceiling according to my wife. Food top notch- not too pricy - waitors, reception & kitchen staff v friendly- breakfast... more
Spectacular views
Modern, minimalist hotel on IOW. Spectacular views, beautiful bedrooms and a lovely breakfast in a dining room overlooking the sea. Only negative comment I have is that we were allocated a room next to the kitchen and above the restaurant which made it extremely noisy until quite late. This would be no problem for a young couple who may not be in until the early hours, but proved difficult for a family trying to sleep at 11pm. This would not put me off coming back. Next time I'll just book a room on the top floor.
Don't book room 18
stayed here on Saturday October 22nd 2005. Upon arrival we were allocated room 18 which is in the super deluxe category at this hotel. The room had a number of problems: 1. Room 18 is located directly above the hotel's restaurant, which has it's music speakers inserted in the ceiling - i.e. room 18's floor - we could hear Phil Collins above the TV in our room from 6.30pm until the restaurant closed. 2. The room is tiny without tea or coffee making facilities 3. The radiator in the bathroom is constantly switched on... more
Excellent Hotel : Great Location a must Stay on the Isle of Wight
I travel world wide on Business and stayed for the 3rd time at the Wellington Hotel in Ventnor an acalade indeed as thoes who know that travel a lot, to return for the 3rd time this must be an expeptional Hotel. The Staff are very friendly and truly aim to please. The rooms are very modern light and airy NOT old fashioned and in need of refurbishment as are so many on the Isle of Wight. "Johansens recomended" If you are a family looking for a great location for beaches and a quaint town to wonder the Wellington will suit you well,... more
Really special!
Stayed at this hotel before in January on business and took my team to stay there in March for our team meeting. Everybody simply LOVED it. I cannot understand some other comments rating it 2, 3 or 4 star. I have travelled all my life and normally stay in 5 star "Leading Hotels of the World" and The Wellington is special and can compete! Please remember that this is a boutique type hotel so no, you dont get all the amenities of a larger chain hotel, but so what! There is always parking nearby so this is not a problem. The... more
Really lovely hotel.
We stayed at the Wellington Hotel for one night, we stayed there as I checked the reviews on here and it looked a good bet, I was not dissapointed. We had a lovely room (room 23) with french doors going onto a a giant balcony, on a cliff and the sound of the sea lapping down below. We kept the french doors open all night, it really was lovely. All the staff were very pleasant and friendly. The food was lovely, especially the breakfast, which we had in our room on our balcony, with the morning papers. It really was... more
