Hotel Punta Sur

We stayed at the Hotel Punta Sur for a 3 day break whilst travelling around spain. The hotel is about 10 minutes drive outside Tarifa town centre. As it is outside of the town centre there is more space here and the room was very nice - huge room with huge bathroom with stand alone shower. The grounds are well maintained and there is a pool area for those with children. The rooms are arranged in bungalow style chalets with the main hotel area housing the bar and restaurant. Visited this amazing hotel shortly before it closed for the winter season. The friends we were travelling with had visited Tarifa some years before, so we really wanted to be in town. A quick recce though convinced us that the town had changed. It was very crowded, even in early November, and grubby, but not in a charming, bohemian sort of way. Excellent value for money. This hotel has a motel type feel with 30+ rooms spread throughout the beautiful grounds. The pool area is outstanding. Lots of space for everyone. Lots of nice quirky little touches that make this hotel stand out from the crowd. It's certainly not bland. Each of the rooms is named and has little design ideas that fit in with the theme. We booked ourselves into the Punta Sur for our 10th wedding anniversary and took the bridal suite which consisted of a salon, bedroom with romantically draped bed -- two bathrooms-- one with open air shower-- the room was worthy of a five star hotel althought the hotel claims to have three... the staff were charming and the food excellent-- there is a secluded beach opposite where we could sunbathe nude behind some rocks and not only sunbathe! Now maybe our marriage will last another ten years...

We, my husband and our two 16 children booked into here for 2 nights on the off chance we could get a room as the Hurricane Hotel we wanted to book in was full (it was high season). We stayed in a family suite which was huge clean and done in a simple but chic style, had TV, mini bar fridge, no air conditioning but each room had a fan. It is sometimes difficult to find a hotel which is good for our 3 small kids but the Punta Sur had family suites consisting of two bedrooms (the kids room had three beds) and two bathrooms. We stayed three days as we were touring Andalusia and had a great time in the Tarifa area -- the beaches are fabulous-- I went riding while my husband looked after the chidlren, and he went surfing when I came back. The Hotel Punta Sur, situated a few kilometres from the historic town of Tarifa, was the perfect place for a honeymoon. When we stayed at The Hurricane, we tried to extend out booking but the hotel was full. We transferred to their sister hotel just across the way from the Hurricane. We were so surprised to find this stylish and welcoming hotel right across from the beach. The rooms and family rooms are extraordinary - light, spacious and beautifully decorated. They have an enormous swimming pool, beautiful gardens, and the food is out of this world. The bar is fantastic. Spent a few nights in the newly refurbished hotel Punta Sur. Loved its retro style, friendly staff, great food, huge pool -- not to mention the amazing duck pond and wonderful views of the sierra. The bedrooms have huge beds, great bathrooms -- some are really sexy with bathtubs for two!

The Hurricane hotel is often full so we tried their sister hotel which is called Hotel Punta Sur; huge rooms; great for families and great food...
