Unique Design - that works!
A unique, interesting and fantastic design & concept - that really works! Comfortable and relaxing with all the fine touches that tend to make a difference. I was hesitant to stay here after reading all the negative reviews ... but so glad we did. The rooms are well appointed. The beach is great. The staff were friendly enough (I agree many needed some training on being friendly, welcoming and maybe a few more smiles all round, but it was not as bad as all the reviews here have painted it - and 90% of all staff we came across... more
Deplorable Costa Lanta
I totally agree with those saying that Costa Lanta experience is not so idyllic as one may expect from a design hotel like this. Resort is really nice itself and rooms cubic design is actually one the best we have experienced so far. However, maintenance and cleaning are two aspects that do not apply for Costa Lanta resort. There are quite a lot of materials that need urgent repairs (broken woods, metal stuff full of corrosion…), pool is dirty and no-one from the staff seems to care about any service given to customers, ie. we had to... more
Management response from KellyLanta

I have been employed by Costa Lanta to improve address the issues raised in the above review. I have 8 years experience in Thailand and will work closely with staff to improve their service and English skills. Costa Lanta remains open throughout the whole year and uses this time to train and support the staff in their personal development. I will be on hand to assist the guests and ensure that they have a relaxed and pleasant staff with us. Feedback so far from guests this year has been positive, with many guests commenting on the effort made by staff to interact and assist them where possible. I would like to thank you for your comments, as it allows us to develop and move forward. Some of the staff (especially the house keeping and gardeners) are simply too shy to say hello and are concerned to ‘lose face’ by making a mistake. I’m working with them to make English fun and relaxed to alleviate their fears. Kelly May Assistant Manager, Costa Lanta Resort

Incredible design, but somewhat dilapidated
Yes, the design of this hotel is stunning and the rooms are unique. The whole resort is one of the most excellent design hotels I have ever been at. However, quite a few things have to be renewed here and – given the climate – need much more attention. The wood used throughout the resort is looking old and dirty (which is a bit of an issue when the faucet is made from wood….), the rooms in general look somewhat tired, the lawn is not green etc etc. Service is a disappointment, nobody seems to care too much about anything –... more

not been maintained since the opening
Costa Lanta hotel concept is great, pictures on the net are nice but when my wife and I got there, how bad was the surprise. This hotel has not been maintained since the opening. It was not only the garden that was abandoned or the pool but everything was dirty, not maintained, chairs at the bar were dusty…., we had the feeling that this resort is close to go bankrupt, that the hotel has not either enough people to maintain it or a very poor management. We paid €100 per night (low season) for something that even doesn't worth... more
stylish / hip escape
stayed here 4 days 3 nights over Easter, food here is EXCELLENT! was here with 4 friends, we tried other places on the beach as well as in town but the food here was very good service is slow coz there's only 1 person cooking in the kitchen and only 1-2 staff manning the bar/restaurant/pool but if you're on vacation, it shouldn't be a big deal the rooms were small but interesting/unique, some would consider the design strange, decide for yourself on this one the semi opened bathroom = lots of bugs so if you can't stand bugs,... more
relaxing and unique
Totally agree with the traveller from Australia . Costa Lanta is a very unique and relaxing place to begin your holiday in Thailand (it was my first stop as a honeymooner). My main complaint is that in our sea-view standard room, the space for the bedroom wasn’t much so we couldn’t really spent a lot of time in the room (there is no tv also). On the other hand, when you go to Thailand, you don’t really want to spent your hours in a room, do you? I would recommend this resort for a 3-4 day stay.
One of the top Design Hotels in the world
Well we also had an amazing time at this hotel. I have stayed at some top places in the world but honestly this hotel was the most amazing. We were in a superior beachfront room which was absolutely amazing. The bed is just so inviting that you could spend all day there (especially with the mostquito net) and the bathroom is amazing. Polished concrete and cool wood. The layout of the resort is such that you never feel close to others. The pool and restaurant is also amazing. This is not your 'typical' thai style place though so go... more
Chill out heaven
Having just got home raving about Costa Lanta to all our mates we're quite shocked by the above review. We are four friends who spent just under 2 weeks at Costa Lanta and ate in the restaurant regularly for either lunch or dinner. The food is AMAZING and we struggled to find the same subtlety of flavour anywhere nearby, which were all much more touristy cuisine. As for the service, the restaurant staff were charming and, okay, they may not be quite as efficient as a top hotel in the UK but they were always happy to help. As a place to wind... more
Triumph of style over service
The Costa Lanta is a beautifully designed chic hotel. Lots of polished concrete and wood and an oasis of calm right on the beach front on Koh Lanta island. However, there are major problems with service at the hotel. Having travelled in Thailand you get used to(even in the cheapest hotels) warm, gentle and top class service. Service at this hotel in the bar and restaurant can at best be described as unfriendly, bordering on rude at times. Considering how expensive this hotel is compared to others on the island and in Thailand this comes as... more
