Hotel Sirmione

Visited September 2005. Firstly this Hotel sets itself out to be a top of the range hotel and this is reflected in the prices. Euro 208 per night for a "Premium Harbour View Without Balcony" (room 120). These are the rooms dow the side of the hotel. As you will see from the picture - we could just see the harbour through the trees - the room was Premium but the view was not. First of all here are the hotel’s good points; superb location in the middle of town next to the boat landing stage, very clean, excellent chambermaid service, alfresco dining beside the lake, good buffet breakfast. However the hotel has a few problems: As stated in earlier reviews the hotel is also a health spa – focusing on Sulphur treatments. Concur with the writers below, it is a very good hotel in a great setting. No problems at all during our stay in May 2005. The hotel is also has a proper thermal spa, with that water used in the outside pool. There are sophisticated treatments available, but just using the pool and jacuzzis gave a [very warm] idea of sulphurous style spa therapy.

The Hotel Sirmione has a prime position in beautiful Sirmione. It is made up of 2 buildings on the edge of the enclosed part of the town directly on the lake. We decided to get married in Sirmione and stay at the hotel for our wedding night and one night after. My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. It was a most enjoyable experience though we had the advantage of being in a room with a balcony overlooking the harbour. If you had a basic room you might find that a bit disappointing - the windows of some rooms appeared rather small. However this is a minor criticism of what to us was a great hotel with friendly staff everywhere, especially in the splendid restaurant which served varied and well cooked and presented meals, including lunch. We stayed at the hotel for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was comfortable and the dining room very pleasant. We were too late in the season to dine outside but during the day the temperatures were really warm. One point which I really liked was that there was always lots of fresh fruit for dessert as well as the normal sugary confections! Just returned ( Sept 04) form a wonderful holiday spent staying at the Sirmione Hotel. Accommodation of very high standard, food and wine excellent. Bar, restaurant and room staff very helpful and friendly. Reception staff impatient if you are not Italian speaking. Would return to this hotel again.

We visited this hotel in August 2004 for our wedding/honeymoon, which exceeded all of our expectations! Firstly, the Restaurant is excellent - serving a four course meal each evening on the banks of the lake. The 'Matre', Bruno, is very welcoming and very helpful on deciding which of the many wonderful dishes from the menu to choose, along with a good wine list - try the Bardolino, it's great! We rarely return to the same place but 2004 makes four years in a row to this splendid hotel. Excellent staff in a setting second to none. The lounge areas are never crowded and the staff are unobtrusive but always there when needed. The restaurant offers a varied choice of quality food and the staff are patient with guests who give as much food to the swans by the terrace as they eat themselves. Having spent our summer break at the excellent Savoy Palace Hotel in Gardone on Lake Garda we decided to return for an autumn break. Sadly the hotel closed early and unfortunately we chose the Hotel Sirmione. Bad points unfriendly, overpriced restaurant, continual pungent smell of sulphur (used for spa treatments). Didn't enjoy breakfasts although food was ok sitting amongst guests receiving treatments in their bath robes. The spa pool resembled a sheep dip although it was very pleasant, also had a nice sauna.
